A LEFT-WING SPANISH POLITICIAN: WHY AM I NOT ANTI-ISRAEL LIKE MY COLLEAGUES?

Why don’t we see demonstrations against Islamic dictatorships in London, Paris, Barcelona ?

Or demonstrations against the Burmese dictatorship?

Why aren’t there demonstrations against the enslavement of millions of women who live without any legal protection?

Why aren’t there demonstrations against the use of children as human bombs where there is conflict with Islam?

Why has there been no leadership in support of the victims of Islamic dictatorship in Sudan?

Why is there never any outrage against the acts of terrorism committed against Israel?

Why is there no outcry by the European left against Islamic fanaticism?

Why don’t they defend Israel ‘s right to exist?

Why confuse support of the Palestinian cause with the defense of Palestinian terrorism?

And finally, the million dollar question: Why is the left in Europe and around the world obsessed with the two most solid democracies, the United States and Israel, and not with the worst dictatorships on the planet? The two most solid democracies, which have suffered the bloodiest attacks of terrorism, and the left doesn’t care.
And then, to the concept of freedom. In every pro Palestinian European forum I hear the left yelling with fervor: “We want freedom for the people!”

Not true. They are never concerned with freedom for the people of Syria or Yemen or Iran or Sudan , or other such nations. And they are never preoccupied when Hamas destroys freedom for the Palestinians. They are only concerned with using the concept of Palestinian freedom as a weapon against Israeli freedom. The resulting consequence of these ideological pathologies is the manipulation of the press.

The international press does major damage when reporting on the question of the Israeli-Palestinian issue. On this topic they don’t inform, they propagandize.

When reporting about Israel the majority of journalists forget the reporter code of ethics. And so, any Israeli act of self-defense becomes a massacre, and any confrontation, genocide. So many stupid things have been written about Israel , that there aren’t any accusations left to level against her.

At the same time, this press never discusses Syrian and Iranian interference in propagating violence against Israel ; the indoctrination of children and the corruption of the Palestinians. And when reporting about victims, every Palestinian casualty is reported as tragedy and every Israeli victim is camouflaged, hidden or reported about with disdain.

And let me add on the topic of the Spanish left. Many are the examples that illustrate the anti-Americanism and anti-Israeli sentiments that define the Spanish left. For example, one of the leftist parties in-Spain has just expelled one of its members for creating a pro-Israel website. I quote from the expulsion document: “Our friends are the people of Iran , Libya and Venezuela , oppressed by imperialism, and not a Nazi state like Israel.”

In another example, the socialist mayor of Campozuelos changed Shoah Day, commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, with Palestinian Nabka Day, which mourns the establishment of the State of Israel, thus showing contempt for the six million European Jews murdered in the Holocaust.

Or in my native city of Barcelona , the city council decided to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel, by having a week of solidarity with the Palestinian people. Thus, they invited Leila Khaled, a noted terrorist from the 70’s and current leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a terrorist organization so described by the European Union, which promotes the use of bombs against Israel.

This politically correct way of thinking has even polluted the speeches of president Zapatero. His foreign policy falls within the lunatic left, and on issues of the Middle East he is unequivocally pro Arab. I can assure you that in private, Zapatero places on Israel the blame for the conflict in the Middle East , and the policies of foreign minister Moratinos reflect this.

The fact that Zapatero chose to wear a kafiah in the midst of the Lebanon conflict is no coincidence; it’s a symbol.

Spain has suffered the worst terrorist attack in Europe and it is in the crosshairs of every Islamic terrorist organization. As I wrote before, they kill us with cell phones hooked to satellites connected to the Middle Ages.

And yet the Spanish left is the most anti Israeli in the world.

And then it says it is anti Israeli because of solidarity. This is the madness I want to denounce in this conference.

Conclusion:

I am not Jewish. Ideologically I am left and by profession a journalist.

Why am I not anti Israeli like my colleagues? Because as a non-Jew I have the historical responsibility to fight against Jewish hatred and currently against the hatred for their historic homeland, Israel . To fight against anti-Semitism is not the duty of the Jews, it is the duty of the non-Jews.

As a journalist it is my duty to search for the truth beyond prejudice, lies and manipulations. The truth about Israel is not told. As a person from the left who loves progress, I am obligated to defend liberty, culture, civic education for children, coexistence and the laws that the Tablets of the Covenant made into universal principles.

Principles that Islamic fundamentalism systematically destroys. That is to say that as a non-Jew, journalist and lefty I have a triple moral duty with Israel , because if Israel is destroyed, liberty, modernity and culture will be destroyed too.

The struggle of Israel, even if the world doesn’t want to accept it, is the struggle of the world.

Buses are very difficult to protect…. as Israel found out at the height of the Second Intifada.

Its impossible to predict where a homocide bomber will strike.

Tragic today that three Israelis were killed. It could have been much, much worse!

And Islamic terrorists will almost certainly try again.

The Bus Jihad is back!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured and my condolences to the families of those slain today. May their memories be for an eternal blessing!

Debbie the NYT article now online is skeptical of Israeli accusations against Iran. They put it in the context of endless finger pointing between the two countries. The NYT also implies Israel had it coming either way. Hopefully they will be just as philosophical when Israel lowers the boom, G-d willing.

To expound on NormanF’s comment, The Bulgarians are becomming more rabid by the day to the muslims in their midst, the muslims just gave the nationalist a great excuse to start burning mosques, which I will bet is going to happen shortly. On a side note, Israeli Intel folks have a good working relationship with the Bulgarians since the god forsaken Turks turned Islamist.

This is tragic. What is even more upsetting is that so many news reporters refuse to define this as an act of “terrorism”. It seems like an act of murder isn’t “terrorism” when Jews are the victim.

Changing the subject, I have no clue as to why Bulgaria is an attractive destination for Jewish tourists. Bulgaria has a mighty fine history of anti-Semitism. As an Iron Curtain country, they are known to have played a role in the attempted assassination of John Paul II. I know of no particular history of friendship and solidarity between Bulgaria and Israel. I await to be informed otherwise.

If Bulgarians protected Jews from the Holocaust, I do not care. What has Bulgaria done for me lately? Does someone want to answer that question? I’d be really curious to know.

Actually, during WWII, since Bulgaria was an ally of the Axis, they didn’t have to do anything to their Jews as long as they were supporting the Nazi war effort in attacking Greece and Yugoslavia.

Maybe all Europe is a bad tourist idea for Jews. Not sure about Serbia – the one country that shows Muslims their place.

I’m reading today that the bomber had a “fake” Michigan driver’s license. So my thoughts are that it could be a) a completely legitimate MI driver’s license of an Arab-American who sympathizes with Iran, or b) a valid MI license issued to an illegal immigrant which is easy to do because they never try to determine if the person should be there. Good thing we don’t have to worry about illegal immigration, right?

By way of comment on Sean’s post, The license used was probably issued by the secretary of state’s office of Michigan, rather than a phony I.D. This kind of thing is going to bite us in the ass, probably sooner than later.
To the terrorists: If you think someone is watching you, or coming up behind you, don’t bother turning around, that will be Mossad. If you look up in the sky when you hear or see a funny looking little airplane, smile, you’re on candid (drone) camera. The missiles arrive a few seconds later. Don’t try to run, you will only die tired.
On terrorism: We have the deadly threat of terrorism, and other problems to go with it. Sporting events, festivals, fast food places and malls, or just about everything involving large crowds of people, especially the “pop culture” types, seem to attract large numbers of assholes. Lately, this seems to include airline travel. Notice how someone hits the news weekly for doing something stupid on an airplane? In addition to being easy targets for terrorist attacks, large crowds and big parties are ridden with thugs, wiggers, flash mobs, drunks and druggies, and of course, assholes.
Consider the up coming summer Olympics in London. Instead of the focus being on who is going to bring home the gold, and on people having a good time, the focus is on a possible/probable terrorist attack and on massive security procedures including anti aircraft rocket launchers. Screw the Olympics. Cancel it. It isn’t worth it. Anything requiring anti aircraft artillery and other heavy military hardware is warfare, and unless you are a combatant you would be wise to stay away.

Well, Norman, just go on believing your little preconceived notions rather than the testimony of someone on the ground here. All you accomplish is the further demonization of Israel and what a terrible place it is. Are you sure you’re on OUR side?
When Grandmas in Georgia, USA have to protect themselves against shotgun wielding home invaders, then YES, I am a lot safer here in Israel. There is nothing that says a terrorist can’t/won’t hop on a bus in the US and blow it up. There’s nothing that says if I’m on a bus in the US it won’t be involved in a horrible crash and burn up all of the riders. These things are incidental but life goes on and here in Israel, it goes on a hell of a lot better than it does in the US.

Ms. Schlussel–you are correct enough in saying that Bulgaria acted to save all Jewish citizens during the Holocaust, which is something Bulgarians often mention. However, as you may know, there is a stain on that record in that Bulgaria actively rounded up and turned over to the Germans for destruction all Jewish non-citizens in their territory. PW

Though the suspected bomber has not been identified by authorities, reports in the Bulgarian press cited by Israeli media claim he is a Swedish citizen of Algerian and Finnish descent named Mehdi Ghezali, according to the Times of Israel.

There are a lot of Islamic terrorists who don’t look like swarthy Middle Eastern types. The point is you don’t know whom you meet – you can’t always profile them based on looks. You have to investigate their behavior and also look at their religious affiliation.

That’s politically incorrect these days. What we do know for sure today is security is Bulgaria is far laxer than in Israel. That’s why Ghezali could board a bus and perpetrate a massacre.

There is zero evidence discovered to date 7/25/12 that ties Iran to this bombing in any way. So you are lying just like NUTenyaho was when he announced an hour after the bombing that Iran did it.
