Small City vs. Big Business on Illegal Aliens: Hazleton Needs Your Help

Today’s the start of an important battle between small city Hazleton, Pennsylvania versus the giant U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
As you saw on a Hazleton, led by Mayor Lou Barletta, is fighting to defend its laws that penalize business that hire or rent to illegal aliens. If big business is really against illegal aliens, they wouldn’t have a problem with the Hazleton laws. If big business was really “checking” prospective workers’ IDs and not hiring those they know to be illegal, the Chamber wouldn’t take on this fight.
But as we all know, big business is all for hiring illegal aliens. They’re not just for amnesty. They’re for their own personally imposed amnesty right now, in violation of the law.

(Illegal Alien Freeway by Fred Taub/Boycott Watch)

So, the Chamber of Commerce has joined the ACLU in fighting Hazleton, using the absurd claim that the Hazleton ordinance is pre-empted by Federal law. Because we all know how effective The ICE Princess a/k/a Immigration and Customs Enforcement Chieftess Julie L. Myers has been in enforcing federal immigration law.

“We need to bring some stability into the system until we come up with a federal answer,” says Angelo Amador, Chamber director of immigration policy.
“If not, we’re going to end up with 50 state laws and a thousand local ordinances,” Amador adds. “A lot of people are copying what we think is a bad law.”

Huh? So long to local control and local sovereignty, a reason we fought the British to become more than just colonists. I guess the Chamber forgot that “All politics is local.”
And then, the Chamber and the ACLU are claiming the Hazleton ordinance violates due process of businesses. Huh? They have a right to challenge the allegations in court. And they will. They just don’t want to identify themselves in court as illegal alien employers and landlords in order to do so.

Hazleton Mayor Louis Barletta, a former small-business owner, says he never expected to be on the opposite side from the Chamber.
“There’s nowhere in our ordinance that we regulate immigration. We punish businesses that hire illegal workers,” Barletta says. “I would rather stand on the side of the American workers than (with) businesses that break the law.”
Hazleton has been raising money for its legal bills in part by seeking donations on a special website.
As immigration legislation has languished in Congress, dozens of states have passed measures aimed at an estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants. Barletta says more than 100 localities are considering imitating Hazleton’s law.
The Hazleton ordinance lets individuals lodge complaints if they suspect a business has an illegal worker. Firms that can’t verify an employee’s status have three days to fix the situation. If they don’t, the city can suspend the operating license. Workers who lose jobs at a business that had illegal immigrants on the payroll, under certain circumstances, can seek damages.

And that, my friends, is why the Chamber doesn’t like this. It will finally hurt them in their pocketbooks.
And Hazleton needs a lot of money to pay legal bills to defend itself and its laws in federal court. The city is raising funds and donations on a special website. I hope you’ll help proud, former small business owner and Mayor Barletta fight the well-funded U.S. Chamber of Commerce and ACLU.

ACLU = America’s Communist Liars Union
The ACLU was founded in the 1920s by Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastman, described as a “progressive” and “the perfect feminist.”
Earl Browder was general secretary of the Communist Party of the United States from 1930 through its dissolution in 1944. When the party was reconstituted as the Communist Political Association later that year, Browder was chosen as its president. Browder proudly proclaimed that the ACLU functioned as “a transmission belt” for the party. To deny the ACLU’s founding was attached at the hip to communist organizations is to deny what can easily be proven as truth.
For the past few decades, the ACLU has been on a major crusade to destroy Christianity in America, promote filth under “freedom of speech and expression,” and of course, vigorously defend the homosexual culture of death. On Jan. 10, 1963, Congressman Albert S. Herlong Jr., D-Fla., read a list of 45 communist goals into the Congressional Record. Below are the communist goals being implemented by the ACLU in their quest to destroy America’s culture and traditions:
1. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
2. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
3. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings,” substituting shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.
4. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”
5. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
6. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and television.
7. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural and healthy.”
8. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a “religious crutch.”
9. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”
10. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of “the big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the communists took over. Obliterating the American past, with its antecedents in principles of freedom, liberty and private ownership is a major goal of the communists then and now.
11. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture ñ education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
12. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
Anyone who has been following the destructive path of the ACLU can easily see how effective these communist goals have been implemented to “promote democracy” and protect your “civil rights.” Lenin stated: “Communism alone is capable of providing really complete democracy.”

Here is something to boil your blood.
The Jane and John Does(Illegal Immigrants) donÔø?t have to testify in front of the jury! And better yet, They are claiming these laws by the town will Ôø?Finally, the Does argue that in the event that the ordinances become effective, they face losing their homes and livelihoods by revealing themselves through this attempt to assert their alleged constitutional rights,Ôø? Munley added.
Did you get that?
Anonymous plaintiffs wonÔø?t have to testify (Hazleton Standard-Speaker)

Three John Does and a Jane Doe will not have to take the witness stand when the trial involving HazletonÔø?s Illegal Immigration Relief Act starts Monday.
On Friday, Judge James M. Munley issued an order allowing the four to simply submit depositions, rather than offer testimony and face cross-examination.
Ôø?Deposition testimony is usually considered inadmissible hearsay,Ôø? Munley wrote.
However, he cited Federal Rule of Procedure 32, which allows depositions in Ôø?exceptional circumstances.Ôø?
Munley wrote that this case involved those circumstances because of claims from plaintiffsÔø? attorneys that they had been subject to threats.
Ôø?They assert that due to the intense media coverage this case has engendered, a significant risk is present that the identity of the Does will be revealed although we have ruled that they can proceed anonymously,Ôø? Munley wrote. Ôø?Counsel for the Doe plaintiffs have been inundated with Ôø?intensely hostile correspondenceÔø? and Ôø?hate mail threatening violenceÔø? from anti-immigrant groups regarding their representation of the plaintiffs. Thus, they are concerned that such groups may attend the trial and attempt to identify and/or harass the Does if they testify live.
Ôø?Finally, the Does argue that in the event that the ordinances become effective, they face losing their homes and livelihoods by revealing themselves through this attempt to assert their alleged constitutional rights,Ôø? Munley added.
The city argued that the depositions were taken only for the discovery phase and that the plaintiffsÔø? attorneys never said theyÔø?d use them in lieu of testimony.
But Munley sided with the plaintiffs.
Ôø?We find that situation that the Does find themselves in Ôø? is an exceptional circumstance and that makes the use of the depositions appropriate,Ôø? the judge wrote. Ôø?While we understand the defendantÔø?s concerns, we find that it will suffer no prejudice by the submission of depositions.Ôø?
Munley further wrote that the city had already cross-examined the Does Ôø?thoroughlyÔø? and that it has not Ôø?presented any specific areas relevant to the trial that they did not address at the depositions.Ôø?
Ôø?The testimony of the Does appears to be complete for the purposes of the case,Ôø? MunleyÔø?s order reads. Ôø?Bearing in mind that this case involves a non-jury trial, the court is confident that it will be able to make appropriate findings as to the DoesÔø? veracity and credibility by reviewing the depositions.
Ôø?Further, this case involves mainly legal issues as to the validity of the contested ordinances, and issues of fact will not be the predominant features of this case.Ôø?
The trial begins at 9 a.m. Monday.
Better step up to the plate before its toooo late! Do whatever you can to stop the ACLU and the U.S. chamber of (crooks) commerce

Thanks for attempting to educate us in the thoughts of V.I. Lenin thee-boy, but unfortunately that’s only half the actual quote.
Here’s the entire thing.
“Communism ALONE is capable of providing really COMPLETE DEMOCRACY, and the more complete it is, the sooner it will become unnecessary and wither away of its own accord”.
So what Lenin is saying here is that democracy is only possible in a truly classless society, because democracy in a Capitalist society is only available th those with the capital. And therefore once a condition of true democracy has been achieved the need for a state will wither away.

The Purple Cow on March 13, 2007 at 12:54 pm

The Purple Sow vomited;
“So what Lenin is saying here is that democracy is only possible in a truly classless society, because democracy in a Capitalist society is only available th those with the capital. And therefore once a condition of true democracy has been achieved the need for a state will wither away.”
Spoken like a true Marxist. Tell me…do you teach Marxist theory at a community college somewhere, or do you give free classes in the state prison at which you are incarcerated?
You also puked up;
“Communism ALONE is capable of providing really COMPLETE DEMOCRACY, and the more complete it is, the sooner it will become unnecessary and wither away of its own accord”.
Like ALL Marxist theory, this one, too, has been proven an impossibility because Marxism is the antithesis of democracy. That’s like saying; The only way to freedom is to be a slave. To further illustrate my point, please list all the world democracies that adopted COMPLETE Marxist theory.
You must’ve studied under that other Marxist/Communist phony: Ron Kuby.
BTW, “antithesis” means: Etymology: Late Latin, from Greek, literally, opposition, from antitithenai to oppose, from anti- + tithenai to set. The direct opposite.

Thee_Bruno on March 13, 2007 at 4:06 pm

Wooohaaa, thee-boy
Let’s just count, shall we?
That’s 1…2…3…4 syllables!!
Way to go dude, I’m proud of ya!
You’ve been practicing this English language thing, haven’t you?
If only the other bat-shit insane right-wing nut-jobs on this site would demonstrate your level of commitment to education and personal development there might be just some sort of hope for the human race.
Well firstly as a point of information, I’m not a revolutionary Marxist, I’m a Democratic Socialist. Whilst I appreciate that you are too stoopid to know the difference, I thought I would just put my stake in the ground.
To answer your question, as far as I am aware there has never been a country anywhere – democratic or otherwise – that has ‘adopted Marxist theory’ as you put it. Some theorists point to aboriginal societies in Australia, and the South Pacific – but I don’t buy that as a model for the industrialized world. So it’s a bit of a moot point, we will never know if Marxism would have lead to true Democracy, though personally I doubt it. I think true and complete democracy is impossible in ANY form of society because the rich and the powerful will always impose their will on the not-rich and not-powerful.
So to summarize, Lenin said democracy is only possible in a classless society, and though I agree with that, I’m saying a classless society is impossible – despite what John Lennon seemed to think 😉
As far as your other questions are concerned, no I don’t teach I work in advertising, and I’ve never heard of this Kuby bloke you are going on about.
Keep up the studies, thee-boy – it’s going well.

The Purple Cow on March 14, 2007 at 3:53 am

Nice try, fucktard. Why don’t you crawl back into your cave and pleasure yourself while reading Marx’s book of fairy tales.
What a Commie fucktard!
Democratic socialist = PC term for Communist/Marxist.

Thee_Bruno on March 14, 2007 at 9:22 am

So thee-boy, let me ask you a question.
Have you ever once won a debate in your entire life?
Do you even know what debate is?
(That’s actually two questions, thee-boy.)
You seem incapable of debate to me. Typically, you post a borderline-insane rant with little or no actual content, followed by assorted invented ‘facts’ that usually have nothing to do with the debate (or frankly, to each other) based on some half-understood concept you’ve just read on Wikipedia. Then all finished off with the odd racist insult.
When someone actually challenges you on what you’ve said, you collapse like a deck of cards, jumping straight into insults, profanity and ad hominem attacks rather than attempting to defend your position.
You can’t even be consistent in your line of attack. Last week I was a Muslim fundamentalist apparently, and every attempt I made to deny that was met with derision. Now suddenly you’ve decided that I’m exactly the opposite – a Communist!
Well, whatever dude, I just wish you would make your mind up.
For all your macho posturing thee-boy, for all your use of ‘fucktard’-style macho-speak you are a very weak poster and a very weak human being. The fact that you don’t know anything is excusable, the fact that you are too lazy to learn anything, isn’t.

The Purple Cow on March 14, 2007 at 12:00 pm

BTW, Purple Sow,
Do you know who were also democratic socialists? That’s right…the NAZIS!
Gee, it just keeps getting worse, and worse for you…doesn’t it?!

Thee_Bruno on March 14, 2007 at 11:01 pm

Purple Sow…
Heil Allah…you NAZI bastard!
You democratic socialist Nazi bastard!
