What I’m Listening To

By Debbie Schlussel
My friends, the very talented Larry Chaney and Craig Shields, are, respectively, the guitarist and sax player for singer Edwin McCain. Edwin, a phenomenal singer (his voice is amazing) and also a friend (he and I met and became friends when we were on ABC’s “Politically Incorrect” together in 1999), had several hits played on teen shows on the WB in the late ’90s and early ’00s. His songs, “I’ll Be,” and “I Could Not Ask for More,” on which both Larry and Craig play were big hits and are wedding and supermarket playlist standards (and frequent audition songs on “American Idol”).
Now, Larry (a brilliant libertarian with some conservative leanings) and Craig, have a great new CD, “Dois Gemeos,” which is perfect for the warm weather and making you feel like you’re on an island paradise. Here’s the first song, “Voce e Minha Luz.” I love the fantastic “Visions,” which is sung by a mysterious, terrific singer. Check it out and listen to a sampling of all the songs on the album here.

Thanks for the tip, Debbie. I’m always looking for unique artists. Here’s one of my favorites:

Debbie,I share your love of Edwin McCain’s music. I’ve seen him perform several times in Greenville, SC which happens to be EM’s and my hometown. I’ll give his bandmates a listen.
