Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis: Muslim Tried to Blow Up Federal Reserve Bank NY

By Debbie Schlussel

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis was arrested in New York for trying to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The story is breaking as I write this and a federal criminal complaint has been filed against him. This appears to be another one of the FBI operations in which an Islamic extremist is recruited and set up to participate in a terrorist attack by FBI agents and informants posing as terrorists. While I have no problem arresting people who think they are actually blowing up these buildings (with fake detonators), as I’ve noted before I believe these deliberate FBI entrapment operations are a way for Famous But Incompetent to stay away from actually infiltrating the general Islamic communities (who mostly support terrorism and won’t condemn HAMAS, Hezbollah, etc.), while pretending to keep us safe (when they are not).

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, 21, was arrested for allegedly attempting to detonate what he thought was a 1,000-pound bomb at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in Manhattan, the Department of Justice and a U.S. attorney’s office said in a press release.

He will be charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to al-Qaeda, the press release said.

The Bangladeshi national allegedly came to the United States in January to carry out a terror attack on U.S. soil and said he had overseas connections to al-Qaeda. As he attempted to recruiter others to join his cell, he tried to recruit someone who turned out to be an FBI source, the criminal complaint says.

There were a few targets for Nafis, according to the complaint, including “a high-ranking U.S. official and the New York Stock Exchange.” In the end, Nafis settled on the New York Federal Reserve Bank, federal officials said.

“In a written statement intended to claim responsibility for the terrorist bombing of the Federal Reserve Bank on behalf of al-Qaeda, Nafis wrote that he wanted to ‘destroy America’ and that he believed the most efficient way to accomplish this goal was to target America’s economy,” the Justice Department press release said. “In this statement, Nafis also included quotations from ‘our beloved Sheikh Osama bin Laden’ to justify the fact that Nafis expected that the attack would involve the killing of women and children.”

A lot of questions are raised by this, including: why was this guy allowed to come to the U.S. in the first place? Was he discovered by the FBI before or after he was given a visa golden ticket into America?

The difference between Nafis and many of the Muslims on U.S. soil is that he was willing to detonate, while they morally support his activities. And that’s the only difference.

*** UPDATE: Looks like he came here on a student visa. Yup, that’s the ticket.

Good point about the FBI’s reluctance to infiltrate the general Muslim community.

It is like some guy going across town to do grocery shopping, even though a supermarket is practically on top of him. In this case, he is simply wasting gasoline, wear and tear on his car, and time. In the FBI’s case, it is willfully Muslim communities that in many cases sympathize and support terrorism, Why set up expensive international sting operations, rather than going after what is figuratively in your backyard?

Gee…where was ice in all this? Oh yeah….nowhere to be found. Give it time; the US Appeals Court will eventually decide the fate of this POS in the same manner as Bin Laden’s boy toy.

It appears to be another case of the FBI enabling someone who would not otherwise have even able to come to the United States. If this man was actually brought into the United States by the FBI for the purpose of being the fall guy in a sting, that would be problematic. This man, if he broke his tether , could have been extremely dangerous. Debbie is quite right in questioning this operation. This seems to be nothing more than an effort by the FBI to seem busy, while leaving the real work undone.

This guy is clearly a peace-loving bhuddist.

FrenchKiss on October 17, 2012 at 5:27 pm

I’m not sure the FBI would be able to infiltrate the muslim community even if they wanted to. After all, this isn’t like infiltrating a biker gang where an agent can just grow a beard, put on a bandana and greasy jeans and develop an identity.

The only thing they can do is set up a lone patsy via elaborate entrapment-like devices and make it look like they’re doing something.

The next big terrorist jihad against us will is inevitable and will catch our p.c.-hobbled LEAs flat-footed just like 9/11 did.

This is just another attempt by BO to show
uncommon leadership.Mark Bowden and Vanity Fair
have gone so far over to influence this election
with the hype over the Seal6 Operation,
that this operation is just a Bin Laden followup.

Commander Zero on October 17, 2012 at 6:31 pm

They are ALL extreme…. they pretend to like this country but they really hate it and would do us harm if they could. And we still haven’t learned our lesson about Islam.

A decade after 9/11, we’re still desperate but not serious in putting an end to the danger in our midst.

Islamaniacs. It’s what they do; it’s who they are.

One of these days, sadly, it won’t be a fake.

It’s a safe bet that no Western nation will do anything sufficiently serious about the danger of Muslims until after several attacks — not just one — worse than 911. The only question is how many attacks will spike the irrational threshold set by PC MC.

Schlussel claims that “The difference between Nafis and many of the Muslims on U.S. soil is that he was willing to detonate, while they morally support his activities.”

However, FOX news reports:

“NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly noted that there have been 15 terrorist plots targeting the city since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.”

That’s 15 plots just in New York City alone — not counting the many plots elsewhere in the U.S. All of these can’t be adventitious Muslim immigrants, can they?

Hesperado on October 17, 2012 at 10:11 pm

Can’t agree with you, there, Hesper. If 3,000+ mass-murders plus the destruction of a landmark like the twin towers wasn’t enough and in fact spurred the opening of more muslim immigrants and entitelments (as well as foreign aid to muslims overseas), why would anyone think that more terror wouldn’t result in more pandering?

I love “media reports” …. he tried to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Pardon me, but unless this MF’r has advanced degrees in engineering and demolition and 3,200 pounds of C4 and 52 on site techs to strategically place that C4 on critical load bearing structural intersections he ain’t “blowing up” shiat.

“Blow up” my aching arse.

The Russians shelled Berlin relentlessly for two weeks with roughly 3,000 artillery field pieces and there were still buildings intact and standing at the end.

Blow up …

How about the media effing grow up.

Now as to Quasi-Mohammed?

Him we should blow up. Jam some Dupont blue stick up his rectum and light the fuse.

Jack on October 18, 2012 at 12:18 am

Jack, weren’t the twin tower skeptics saying basically the same thing? Artillery shelling and blowing something up from the inside out are two different scenarios.

As far as “Blow up”…to…”and light the fuse” well, I couldn’t agree more.

theShadow on October 18, 2012 at 1:06 am

You do not need an engineering degree or vast experience as a demolitions expert: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing#Building_the_bomb

Neither Timothy McVeigh or Terry Nichols were not exactly high achievers. But, consider the damage they did with such rudimentary materials. If it took a high level of education and additional advanced training t become a bomber, there would be very few of them indeed.

Seems our Holy Imam in the WH should remind his newfound allies and cohorts that they must wait a bit — he will
have more flexibility after the election.

Otto Schaden on October 18, 2012 at 8:09 am

What will it require for us to wake up? Who knows? Every time Islamists perpetrate their madness, we are told, immediately, to not believe our lying eyes, that Muslim Americans are really apple pie eatin’ MF’s, that we’re not at war with Islam, be nice to Muslims and go shopping. Sometimes we’re told that it didn’t even happen as in the case of Mr. Workplace “Beard Boy” Violence. It seems the first step, then, would be clarity of vision and an unsoiled mind. Therefore, see reality, no matter what you are told.
Secondly, it doesn’t matter whether a thousand pound bomb planted by a sissy-boy bed-wetter attention-whore Muslim punk would have brought down the building. The point is that it would have probably killed many people and it was, at least, a delusional attempted terrorist attack. The intent was there. And, even though the FBI guys are just bureaucrats with guns, they must be learning something as they go along … hopefully better than no FBI at all. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. But, yes, they must actually infiltrate someday.
Debbie, where did your YouTube videos go?

Pray Hard on October 18, 2012 at 9:41 am

Hi Deb.

I thought the same thing even before I read your column. I guess you have me trained.

IMHO, a terrorist looking to bomb a high profile target would be a professional trained saboteur who would not cart around something that will fail to explode. He would be supported by team-mates and infrastructure.

The Muslim Community Leaders the FBI likes to meet with are only happy to give up a lone patsy to give the FBI a high profile arrest. This helps them preserve their own network of pros. They get the FBI’s gratitude. The FBI gets a big story. Everybody’s happy; a win-win for everybody except for us “regular folks”.

I agree with your thesis 100%. If the FBI is going to intercept a lone terrorist, I’d be more impressed if they nabbed someone with a handgun (For example, the Ft. Hood terrorist.) than someone with a bomb that won’t work.

There is NO Santa Claus on October 18, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Infiltrate Muslim communities? The FBI patronizes them! This guy came in on a student visa, and was studying internet security. In other words, he was learning at an American university how to wage cyber warfare on the U.S. The Republic is doomed.
