Eichmann Kidnapping 55 Years Ago, the Vatican, the U.S. & the Jews – Some Things Never Change

By Debbie Schlussel

1389.9 Holocaust A

Last week marked the 55th anniversary of the Israeli kidnapping of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann. I meant to get to this on the actual 55th anniversary, but got so busy I wasn’t able to. Still it bears mentioning now because of some of the world’s absurd reaction to the kidnapping, in that some things never change, including the Catholic Church’s embrace of Jew-slaughterers. On May 11, 1960, Israeli Mossad agents captured Eichmann in Buenos Aires. Here’s what happened . . .

The Mossad agents drugged Eichmann and then dressed him as a member of the El Al flight crew to secret him out of Nazi-lovin’ Argentina. And the world’s reaction was swift. Swift condemnation. Swift condemnation from the United States, swift condemnation from American Jewish organizations. Swift condemnation from everywhere, including the Vatican, which by the way, helped Eichmann escape to Argentina in the first place.

The U.S. originally took Eichmann into custody in 1945, at the end of World War II. But in 1946, he escaped and hid in Northern Germany. In 1950, with the help of the Catholic Church, Eichmann fled to Argentina, where he lived for over a decade under several aliases. So, it’s no surprise that the same Catholic Church just recognized the PLO terrorist state as a country and called its Munich Olympic Massacre paymaster President, Mahmoud Abbas, an “Angel of Peace.” At one time, Nazi leader Eichmann was also the Vatican’s “Angel of Peace.”

This is why the Vatican supports the German government’s refusal to open secret government files regarding Eichmann’s escape from Germany. There can’t possibly be anything in it that is still reasonably classified 65 years later.

Under his new identity, Eichmann was aided in his efforts to acquire new documents by German Bishop Alois Hudal, who operated from Rome and was notorious for assisting Nazis in escaping justice.

Fifty years from now, the Vatican probably won’t oppose the German government’s release of confidential files on how it allowed ISIS terrorists to escape . . . because there may no longer be a Vatican and Germany will likely be a Muslim country full of secrecy and human rights abuses to keep it that way.

FYI, Eichmann was a good buddy of Yasser Arafat’s relative, Haj Amin El-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who begged Eichmann, a chief organizer of the Holocaust, to pick up the pace of the Final Solution and export it to the Jews of the Middle East.

Then, there is the U.S. government. Under President Eisenhower, the U.S. government joined Argentina in condemning the Eichmann kidnapping and demanding the mass murderer be repatriated to Argentina, which hid this Nazi and shielded him from justice. Hmmm . . . exactly what’s going on today with Argentina’s cover-up of the murder of prosecutor Alberto Nisman and its decades-long cover-up of the Iranian sponsorship of the massacres at the Israeli Embassy and AMIA Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires.

And don’t forget the prominent American Jewish (In Name Only) organizations who deign to speak for me but are dominated by uber-liberal self-haters who are even to the left of the mainstream liberal Jews in America. The American Jewish Committee (AJC) attacked Israel for the kidnapping and trial in Israel, demanding that Israel turn over the top Nazi to be tried in Germany or by an international tribunal. Today, the same AJC constantly has “outreach” to the most anti-Semitic, extremist leaders and elements of the Muslim community in America, continuing with its self-hatred theme.

Fifty-five years ago, and little has changed. Fashion, food, and technology have changed a great deal. But the same actors are practicing their same hatred–and self-hatred–of Israel and the Jews.

Sadly, no surprise there.

If you want to read an accurate book on the Eichmann kidnapping, I recommend, “The House On Garibaldi Street,” by Mossad founder and then-Director Isser Harel, and also the TV movie of the same name (on DVD or Amazon Instant Video). I doubt they’d ever produce or air such a pro-Israel TV movie today.

Get Yours . . .

One other thing: famed Jewish self-hater Hannah Arendt (who had an affair with her Nazi professor) authored “Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil,” in which she claimed that he was just like everyone else and that evil is not that remarkable. It’s just “banal.” She even made some excuses for him, like that he was just following orders.

But while everyone–even the most banal–has the capacity for evil, evildoers and their evil are not banal. ISIS, for instance, is not banal. Glad she and her ridiculous theories have finally been debunked in a relatively recent book, “Eichmann Before Jerusalem: The Unexamined Life of a Mass Murderer,” by Bettina Stangneth.

Get Yours . . .

Every single person involved or aiding including the pope should HANG FIRST.

I thank God Eichmann was apprehended. I would have preferred a nasty accident, however.

Eichmann said towards the end of the war that he would

“leap laughing into the grave because the feeling that he had five million people on his conscience would be for him a source of extraordinary satisfaction.”

    (Shirer 1960, Footnote, p. 978.)

The Pope, like much of the catholic church leadership in Rome and elsewhere, is and has been for the most part (skipping all the PC terms and media ridiculous terms): idiots!

As far as I can tell, Catholicism exists soley to promote evil, pedophelia and homosexuality.

It’s doing a fine job, too.

Liberals are the great destroyers, lying, deceiving and hating all that is decent like their idealogical father, Satan. They will pay the price with their souls, ruling in Hell for eternity.

TOMMY THOMAS on May 18, 2015 at 8:56 pm

Re Arendt, the AJC etc.,

In past centuries Jewish self-haters and Jewish opportunists converted to Christianity in order to advance themselves and get more prestige and money.

Now, most of them seem to have concluded that they can get more prestige and money by remaining Jewish and attacking Israel from within, just as earlier in the last century they remained Jewish and attacked the formation of Israel and did everything in their power to prevent publicizing the Holocaust, not only while it was taking place, but, essentially, for 15 years afterwards, essentially until the Eichmann trial forced it into public awareness on a large scale.

Maybe those JINOs were afraid that publicizing the Holocaust would highlight them as being too different from the Christian World they idolized and so much wanted to be a part of. Perhaps they were afraid the whole Eichmann affair would have the same effect.

At any rate, I guess we are plagued with these people. Whether they write for the New Yorker and similar publications, lead the BDS movement or head the Jewish [in name only] organizations, they remain Jewish and attack Jews and Israel from within. We were better off when, in the past, they renounced Judaisim and made no secret of their anti-semitism.

Jew-Hatred is a very powerful passion. I’m glad I don’t feel it and I am glad I can notice it when I see it. It will mean something in the end.

What a shocker about the Catholic Church (not). If they were bold enough to exclaim that back in the day they should be bold enough to condemn Islam 100% TODAY!

And freaks like Hannah Arendt should be mocked and condemned as much as possible. You are a real dumb effer if you EVER fall for anyone trying to be blaise about evil. If you are to adopt such stupidity, I think the proper punishment is to experience the evil of the evil-doer you’re flaking off. Have a go, you deserve your just desserts!

I’ve always thought Argentina should have been drastically taken to task for their aid of the Nazi pigs they loved to help. They should be hated for what they did to this day. I have no love for that disgusting country!

A few years back, I saw the man who tracked and finally captured Eichmann speak. He is a true hero, although physically and in speaking, he’s just an average Joe (or Shlomo, if will will).
If I were in the Vatican, I’d be more worried of an Islamic bomb and the staggering number of Muslims currently arriving on Italian shores.

Not Ovenready on May 18, 2015 at 11:18 pm

In my opinion, the label self-hating Jew is way over used, so much so that it loses its meaning.

The leftist crackpot Jews who bash Israel are not necessarily self-hating, they’re following their leftist and often Marxist ideology which has been hostile to Israel for a long time. They view Israel as an extension of the evil US (who they probably hate the most),a bully picking on the poor downtrodden palestinians.

For many of these Jews, their leftist ideology is their sort of religion, and when asked they often refer to themselves as “culturally Jewish”.

Say what you will about Jews like that pompous, arrogant, self-righteous ass Thomas Friedman, it’s safe to say self-hatred is one issue he’s not suffering from.

If you’re looking for Jews who are possibly self-haters, Michael Savage (not a leftist) is a good place to start. Not only has he given listeners the impression that he’s not Jewish, he’s made some very anti-Semitic comments over the years.

During the 2000 election controversy, he said that heroic blue-eyed Floridians (Christians) were fighting evil “curly-haired” New York University invaders(Jews) to keep them from stealing the election from Bush. He sounded like he was reading pages from Mein Kampf.

When someone with a Jewish name does something he doesn’t like, he’ll keep saying the person’s name over and over again.

Scott on May 18, 2015 at 11:30 pm

It is hard to imagine Thomas Friedman not having a Jewish identity he is ashamed of. He did go to Brandeis, and it is hard to think of his not being aware of his Jewish birth and identity while a student at such an institution.

His writings, such as they are, are disproportionately about Israel, and attacking Jewish interests, and suggest a preoccupation with topics of Jewish interests that is both psychological and opportunistic.

The leftist Jews who bash Israel and are so prominent in anti-Jewish movements today remind me of the Young Communists in New York of the 30s, who, in order to show how free they were of Jewish influence, held dances and raucous parties on Yom Kippur Night. Such people almost never rise to the central leadership of anti-Jewish movements — the countries they look to for inspiration don’t like any kind of Jews very much –but they keep trying and trying and their most effective approach seems to them to be that of attacking Israel.

Savage seems to me to represent the Jew-hatred and opportunism of prior centuries. He hasn’t converted, but, by his name change and anti-Jewish comments, has taken all the steps towards conversion but one.

Little Al on May 19, 2015 at 1:12 am

I don’t think Thomas Friedman really cares about his Jewish background. Nothing that I’ve read of his or heard him say displays any type of shame for being Jewish.

He attacks Israel, but he also criticizes the Arabs, and this is his pomposity on display. Read his “open letters” that he’s written in his columns.

He displays an attitude of knowing better than both the Arabs and the Israelis of what’s best for both. If you read his open letters, he pompously puts himself above the conflict, lecturing the Israelis to stop their “dreams of empire”(what a laugh that is), and the palis to stop firing rockets, etc.

In other words, he’s the wise one telling the childlike Jews and Arabs to stop fighting and get along.

Scott on May 19, 2015 at 2:19 am

What’s wrong with the conservative Jews? Where’s their outcry about Savage’s anti-Semitism? You can be sure if he was a lefty, they’d be screaming bloody murder.

A couple of weeks ago, Savage said that Jews should get over their “we’re God’s Chosen People” superiority attitude because it alienates non-Jews.

Despite the fact that he did his show on high Jewish holidays, he had the hypocritical nerve to attack what he called phony Jews who don’t go to religious services.

No Christian could ever get away with even a fraction of the anti-Semitic crap that he’s spewed on the air. I’ve only listened to him occasionally, and I’ve heard him make several anti-Semitic comments. I can only imagine how many more he’s made that I haven’t heard.

He’s also “cautioned” Jews into not lobbying for Jonathon Pollard’s release from prison.

Scott on May 19, 2015 at 3:03 am

But you are confirming my point. Even when he discusses the Arabs, Israel is in the background, and, in a larger sense, the discussion of the Mideast as a whole, rather than, say, Latin America, China or Canada suggests a preoccupation with Israeli issues.

Little Al on May 19, 2015 at 7:35 am

And, as the outworn cliche goes, “I used to be a hunchback.”

Little Al on May 19, 2015 at 8:35 am

With all due respect ( and I mean that sincerely; I’m a long-time reader of this column, and I am familiar with all the “regulars” and their views ( 99.5% of which, I at least agree with — and I say “at least,” because in many or most instances, my pro-Jewish views and inclinations toward actions are even MORE extreme — and yes, you can read that as tending toward “violent” “solutions” to “problems” — as opposed to “civil” ) I am getting rather tired of the inappropriate bashing that Michael Savage receives on this page ( and yes, that includes Debbie’s own column, of several months ago — and ditto, btw, for her column in reference to Mark Levin, as well ). I’ve listened to Savage for over 15 years now, and as one whose antenna for Anti-Semitism ( including of the “self-hatred” JINO type ) is exquisitely sensitive ( I can tell an Anti-Semite from 5,000 miles away ) I have NEVER gotten the impression from Savage, that he was one of them. Quite to the contrary ( on a related side-note ): you would be VERY hard-pressed to find a more outspoken, vehement critic of militant Islam, than Michael Savage. Virtually everyday, he denounces the statements and actions of the “religion of peace” and exposes it — and its jihadist practitioners — for what, and whom, they are. But, back to the main point: Savage has supported Israel vehemently, and I have my own ears, and eyes, as witness to that ( meaning, in listening daily to his radio show, and in reading his books ). And, as for Scott’s comment ( “During the 2000 election controversy, he said that heroic blue-eyed Floridians (Christians) were fighting evil “curly-haired” New York University invaders(Jews) to keep them from stealing the election from Bush” ) Savage was correctly pointing out that it was PRECISELY the same self-hating, JINO morons whom we ALL despise here, that were the PROBLEM, in that particular instance; and yes, he was 100% correct, in that opposition to THEM was heroically undertaken by the “blue-eyed” Christians down in Florida — personally, I thank God for the latter having had the courage and fortitude to have done that! Certainly, the Jews in Florida did next-to-nothing ( or worse ) in that regard. As I said at the start: I offer all of this with due respect, and completely without vitriol; I seek only to set the record straight; as I also said, I’ve listened to ( and read ) Savage, on a daily basis, for over 15 years ( possibly, 20 ? ) so I have a vast historical body of reference from which to draw upon.

Dr. Mark Lane on May 19, 2015 at 12:52 pm

“Violent solutions?” It sounds like you’re some sort of provacateur.

Little Al on May 19, 2015 at 2:54 pm

Your antenna is malfunctioning. As Debbie pointed out, Savage had the anti-Semitic Paul Craig Roberts on his show making anti-Semitic and anti-Israel conspiratorial comments and Savage didn’t usher a peep of protest.

In my experience of listening to Savage, he’s much more anti-Muslim than he’s pro-Israel, and as Debbie also pointed out and I’ve heard myself, he’s also made some bizarre flip-flops.

On more than one occasion I’ve heard him praise Islam as a great religion. He’s also praised “muslim morality” as a contrast to “American decadence”.

I’ve also heard him make the loony comment “Israel can’t keep the palestinians down forever”.

As for your views on Savage’s 2000 election comments, he didn’t say the Democratic Party workers were JINOs or self-haters. In fact he never said they were Jews at all, he IMPLIED they were with bigoted stereotypical images such as cunning, sneakiness, curly hair, New York University, etc. T

The fact is Savage didn’t know what the bleep he was talking about. He didn’t know what the religious or ethnic background was of the workers. He assumed they were Jewish.

Even more scummy was his Hitleresque contrast between the sleazy Jews and the proud honest Aryans. I’ll have to check on it, but I believe he also said the Florida workers were blue-eyed AND blond haired.

His comments were so anti-Semitic that even Pat Buchanan isn’t foolish enough to utter such things publicly.

The bottom line is the racial, ethnic, religious backgrounds of the people involved is irrelevant to anyone who is not a bigot.

As I pointed out in another post, you’re sweeping generalization of Jewish liberals as self-hating JINOs or even anti-Israel is bull.

Remember that Bush and Gore both ran on a strongly pro-Israel platform (bullshit of course), so supporting Gore over Bush in of itself did not make someone anti-Israel.

I believe with the exception of a tiny number of crackpots, no Jews be they religious or “JINO” want to see Israel get destroyed.

While many lefty ideas would result in Israel’s destruction, I believe they aim of even most lefties is peace.

I notice you didn’t comment on Savage’s anti-Semitic chosen people superiority slur he made.

Unlike Mark Levin who mentions his Jewish religion frequently, Savage still implies that he’s a non-Jew.

Scott on May 20, 2015 at 12:04 am

Adolf Eichmann got what he deserved. even if it was delayed. I would also have to blame the Truman Administration, as well as the West German government of 1950 for Eichmann’s escape. The Allied occupation of Germany only ended in 1955. There was no good reason for his escape in 1950. As for the Vatican, their conduct speaks for itself during this time period.

chuck lowe on May 19, 2015 at 7:24 am

We are taught to believe that police chasing a former football star in a white Ford Bronco led to the “Trial of the Century”. In fact, at the time it was held, the Eichmann Trial was regarded as the “Trial of the Century”. Indeed, when it comes to apprehending the criminal and bringing him to justice, the O.J. Trial pales in comparison.

Debbie, thank you very much for writing this column. I don’t think I would have noted this as any kind of anniversary regarding the Eichmann kidnapping. Moreover, I think that reminding us that the Vatican helped Nazi fugitives escape justice (Many of them went on to new careers committing atrocities in South America.) goes a long way toward understanding Vatican policy toward Israel today.

I might add that the Eisenhower Administration had more than a few fugitive Nazis crawling around the CIA. The Dulles brothers were never friends of the Jewish people. Their proteges still drive American policy in the State Department.

The United States OSS (The preceding organization now known as the CIA) worked hand-in-hand with the Vatican to help Nazis escape justice. Sometime 40 years afterward, the U.S. was forced to issue an official apology to France for helping Claus Barbie escape justice. The sickening part about Barbie’s escape was that he joined the secret police of Bolivia where he continued his career in torturing captives.

I think the Israelis got it right when they kidnapped Eichmann. Given the enormity of his crime, I don’t understand why any Jew would have felt otherwise. As I recall, there was a great sense of pride amongst most American Jews over the Eichmann capture and trial. It was one of those Chutzpah things Israel did years ago that made many of us proud.

Dear Debbie: I don’t agree with what the Pope is doing. As a lifelong Catholic, I condemn the Vatican recognition of the Palestinian Territories. I support Israel and many Catholics are uncomfortable with the Pope’s pronouncements.

Mary Calhoun on May 19, 2015 at 10:33 am

The Pope has put another nail into the Catholic Church’s coffin. The Vatican did not recognize Israel for the longest time. It aided and abetted Nazis. It has embraced the atheist doctrine of evolution instead of holding fast to Genesis and what Christ said. And now we have the Church giving de facto or possibly de jure recognition to a Palestinian state. The Pope apparently didn’t call Abbas an angel of peace but that he may become an angel of peace. The Church is supersessionist – it believes that it has inherited the blessings and promises that God gave to Israel, which God has kicked to the curb for the death of Christ. That’s why Israel is seen as an opponent or even enemy, particularly since Israel becoming a nation again in 1948 fulfilled Bible prophecies.

Eisenhower was really stupid in the Suez crisis. His actiob
1)It guaranteed loss of Panaama Canal,
2)nationaliztion of assets by countries, (OPEC) These countries sign a agreement they should live by it
3)growth of the Arab nationalism
4) allowance of aggression against Israel The blockade of Eliat and attacks by faydeen from Egyptian control territory was an act of war. Egypt should have lost Suez peninsula to Israel and the canal to France and Brittan and all Arab from Gaza and Suez should have been pig marched across to Suez. The Egyptian threw out all the Jews out of Egypt with just a suitcase,
5) the growth of UN in fact the UN should have been shut down

Always make sure to check your site every couple of days; VERY MUCH ENJOYED your story about the capture and trial of Eichmann. Since you’re very much up on Jewish/Israeli history, can I ask you to someday do a story about the Exodus ship after WW2; the ordeal the passengers endured and what happened to the ship itself? I’ve read what Wikipedia has to say about the incident but somehow feel that it wasn’t given more than a superficial treatment. I KNOW you would do the story justice!!

Excellent article!
However, I believe we’re missing the point and, thus, ignoring a threat to Judaism greater than the likes of the Catholic Church, Eichmann, Hitler, and the long line of anti-Semites going back to the Pharaoh described in ‘Exodus’.
Blaming ‘Christians’ for this development is idiotic and self-defeating. Indeed, this is not a new phenomenon but is, I believe, a greater threat to the existence of the Jewish people than any ever before.
Call them Kapos, self-hating Jews, or even Jews in name only: they’re merely symptoms of this dreaded mindset.
I urge the Jewish people to collectively face this problem.

The Vatican denies the charges that it institutionally helped Eichmann to escape to Argentina, but the facts and common sense belie their denials. There’s sufficient documentation of the trail.

First, Josef Urban, a member of Germany’s intelligence organization, helped Eichmann to escape an American prisoner of war camp. Second, Eichmann then remained in Germany for several years protected by German intelligence, before escaping to Argentina via Italy. Third, Eichmann himself is on record stating that many priests helped him escape to Argentina “without asking questions.”

Historian Gerald Steinacher wrote that Argentine authorities and Catholic priests worked “hand in hand” to protect Nazis. And Bishop Alois Hudal helped Eichmann get the documents he needed to escape. Hudal, in fact, actually published a book called “The Foundations of National Socialism”–a book that advances the Nazi’s cause. Moreover, the Vatican didn’t stop there. Many Nazis were helped to escape by the Catholic Church, and such “relief” agencies as Caritas International helped them to do this.

Of course, the Vatican denies these facts and simply shrugs them aside, arguing that perhaps certain “rogue” individuals “may” have helped Nazis, including Eichmann, to escape, but the Vatican as an institution did not. Well, I don’t doubt there was a “wink-wink” understanding between the so-called “rogue” Catholic officials and the Vatican leadership, and there’s certainly nothing to suggest that the Vatican ever took steps to close out the exits while they looked the other way.

Think of it this way, how many INNOCENT people would have wanted to escape to Argentina at that time as their first choice?

Ralph Adamo on May 19, 2015 at 3:43 pm

ASSIMILATION: assimilation | society | Encyclopedia Britannica

assimilation, in anthropology and sociology, the process whereby individuals or groups of differing ethnic heritage are absorbed into the dominant culture of a society.

What I see happening on a Global scale is akin to the BORG’S MISSION of absorption. The “Individual” is lost in the “BORG HIVE”. The retention of a unique individual entity / life is an anathema – an insult as it were – to the hierarchy of the BORG and, in this case, Israel and Jews, to the Non-Jewish world hierarchy of the United Nations.

Pope Francis I, a Jesuit if I am not mistaken, comes to the Vatican from Argentina. Yes, as I have read, a safe haven for NAZIs. Currently, in addition to what I think his political leanings are, i.e. Socialistic / Fascism, he holds a GLOBAL WARMING perspective. Why? Simply, he sees the U.N. pushing a Global Tax to be used in combating the supposed Global Warming projected catastrophes, but he also sees a funding mechanism he most likely will get his fingers into to support outreach programs of his liking to be applied in a socialistic manner.

To urge the Jewish people to collectively face this problem seems to me to push them towards ASSIMILATION!?!?

I think Adolf Eichmann should have been TERMINATED WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE without resorting to a big trial created to assuage the World’s Press, Political Leaders, and sheeple.

Now, I ask: Why do ISRAELIS and JEWS believe they must justify their beliefs to non-Jews? As far as I am aware, Jews are not threatening the World with horrific acts of aggression, terror, murder, and other despicable acts, are they? G*d / Jews / Moses brought mankind the Ten Commandments which I believe were Golden Rules for mankind to observe – even without the religious aspect – so societies could live in peace and prosper.

Please consider:

Also consider reading: AMERITOPIA by Mark Levin and THE DEATH OF MONEY by James Rickards

Quite simply: If Israel, Israeli Jews, and Jews worldwide are exterminated and their religion obliterated from History, what makes anyone else think they are safe from ASSIMILATION?

Given that one of the Vatican’s most senior Cardinals,George Pell is a known protector of paedophiles there is nothing that this nest of vipers does that surprises me. Throughout it’s history it has often stooped to the level of barbarism,in much the same way ISIS does today.
Eichmann was a true monster but the catholic church by it’s nuturing of child molesters is as bad.

Aron B on May 19, 2015 at 7:35 pm

Eichmann played his part in the destruction of the Jewish people and deserved death. But he was only a small part of the Jewish hate/death. The Vatican is pure anti-Jew, every catholic pope has had his eye on Jerusalem. They would love to establish their seat there. Israel would do good to capture the vatican then destroy it.

William on May 19, 2015 at 8:47 pm

I would never refer to the Eichmann capture as a “kidnapping”. The term evokes thoughts that somehow he was a victim. He was “captured”, “caught”, “brought to face justice”, or a variety of other things. He could never be called a victim. The hangman had no regrets the day he swung.

A lot of people who come into contact with mass murderers seem to comment on their ordinariness.
Most people who came into contact with Pol Pot for instance found it impossible to imagine bad things about him.
Quite often sociopath killers are described as normal by people that come into contact with them.
This doesn’t mean that they’re normal it means that people see what they want to see.

I remember reading a first-person account by a soldier involved in the mop-up of Nazis in Austria in 1945. His unit had in its custody an arrogant man wearing an ill-fitting corporal’s uniform. The author was assigned to guard him before military intelligence arrived to take him away. The “corporal” started talking about Jews — what did the author think of Jews, and so on — making the author uncomfortable. Fifteen years later, after the capture of Eichmann, the author immediately recognized this mass murderer as the “corporal.”

This Pope is destroying his Church and offering aid to the enemies of Western Civilization. He is a loathsome swine.
