There are lots of lessons in the ongoing story of FBI/CIA mole Nada Nadim Prouty. I’ve already told you details, exclusive to DebbieSchlussel.com, about her terrorist cousin, Nidal Al-Aouar, details which the FBI and CIA should have known. The lesson there is that they don’t do any kind of background check where the applicant is an Arab they want to recruit.
Another lesson is that the American citizen spouses who engage in marriage fraud with illegal aliens are rarely prosecuted. Prouty promised money in exchange for marriage to an unemployed Michigan man living in a trailer, so she could remain in the U.S. once she thought she’d be caught overstaying her student visa. The man is Chris Deladurantaye of Lincoln Park, Michigan, a working-class suburb of Detroit. But nothing happened to Deladurantaye as a result of his fraudulent marriage, which ultimately led to a Hezbollah mole infiltrating the FBI and CIA at its highest security clearance levels.
In fact, in today’s Detroit Free Press, reporters David Ashenfelter and Todd Spangler interviewed Deladurantaye’s current wife, Laura, who is upset that her husband never got paid for the sham marriage:

He needed the money. But she never paid him.

Now, that’s chutzpah. This woman is lucky her husband isn’t behind bars.
And that’s the unfortunate thing. It’s why sham marriages will continue and continue. The penalty is simply not there, even though it’s against the law on the books. Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE) agents tell me the numbers of Americans criminally prosecuted for knowingly engaging in a sham marriage with an illegal alien is miniscule. They get the money and usually get away with it. Even when they are caught, so long as they “cooperate” with authorities, nothing happens. No criminal record. Nothing.
In fact, the current Mrs. Deladurantaye says that not only did her husband not get the money he was promised, but that he only engaged in the fraudulent marriage because he was “young and dumb.” No, he was greedy. Age and intelligence level had nothing to do with it. He was 24 at the time, a full-grown adult who obviously knew the law. Bribes usually involve activity that isn’t legal. It’s not hard to know this was illegal and selling out his country. We’ve all seen or heard of the movie “Green Card,” which unfortunately glamorizes this crime.
His wife says, “He needed the money.” Well, guess what? Most criminals “needed the money.” It’s the number one reason for crime. And it’s not an excuse. It’s a motivation.
In Deladurantaye’s case, his fake marriage for money (who cares whether or not he was ultimately paid?) resulted in espionage on behalf of a terrorist group that murdered over 300 U.S. Marines and civilians Beirut. But he won’t pay a price.
And it’s incredible that the feds are now saying they won’t prosecute him because he “cooperated.” Uh, he didn’t cooperate. That’s the problem. He married Prouty in 1990 and said nothing about it for years. Not even after 9/11–when he surely must have learned that 3,000 Americans were murdered by these people–did he go to authorities and say, hey, I married this Arab woman from Lebanon so she could stay here.
In fact, he only “cooperated” when it was too late–when authorities came to him after his “ex-wife,” Nada Nadim Prouty, accessed all kinds of high level FBI and CIA intelligence and other classified info. His wife tells the Free Press that the first contact Deladurantaye had with the feds was when they knocked on his door a few months ago. If that is “cooperation”–then every criminal who gets caught and fesses up should get away with it.
Deladurantaye and his wife should be ashamed. But because ICE rarely does anything to the conspiring American spouse in sham marriages, they aren’t.
And that’s why there will be–and there are already–so many Nada Nadim Proutys roaming free in America and infiltrating our national security institutions, etc.
Christopher Deldurantaye betrayed his country for a few dollars he never got. Plain and simple, he’s a traitor.

It’s definitely not for kids. And I didn’t care for the right-in-your-face naked CGI rear ends of Beowulf (Ray Winstone) and Grendel’s Mother (a skank played by a skank–Angelina Jolie). But I thoroughly enjoyed “Beowulf“–the 3-D marvel, in theaters tomorrow (Friday). And, yes, guys, this movie is for you. Dragons, fire, monsters, kings, warriors, swords, damsels in distress–this has all those and more.

It’s the story of the swashbuckling, but exaggeratingly braggadocious, fair-haired warrior Beowulf who saves Danish King Hrothgar’s (Anthony Hopkins) kingdom from the monster Grendel, who has been terrorizing and murdering his people. While fighting him naked (there’s a lot of trouble taken to obfuscate Beowulf’s groin region with various objects), Beowulf manages to kill Grendel and win Hrothgar’s queen (Robin Wright Spicoli, er . . . Penn) for whom he lusts. But that’s only half the battle. The bigger battle is to resist the charms of Grendel’s skanky demon mother and kill her, instead of sleeping with her and spawning new Grendels. But man is mortal, subject to lust, and, alas, not brave enough to resist temptation. Or is he? This also stars John Malkovich who is vintage funny, obnoxious, weird Malkovich in this one.
Yes, guys, Angelina Jolie is naked (and far better looking in animation than in reality), but those regions are obfuscated in the animation (but for a better crafted rear end). Sorry.
“Beowulf” is getting panned by some critics, but I disagree with them. If you’re an adult who enjoys epic, swashbuckling tales of old, you’ll probably like it. If you liked the far superior “300,” you’ll definitely like this sort of comic book version of it.
It’s like “300” on steroids, a little drunk, and starring WWE characters who have far less courage and morality. That’s because “Beowulf” doesn’t really take itself seriously. There is a lot of parody and silly humor sewn into this movie based on the epic poem they force you to read in high school. In fact, Beowulf is played by Ray Winstone, who resembles a much hotter version of WWE’s wife-beater Stone Cold Steve Austin. That’s the computer generated imaging (CGI) working, as the real-life Winstone is schleppy and his onscreen Beowulf is a hot, muscular blond warrior adonis.
This movie is a new form of CGI. Real actors–Anthony Hopkins, Skankelina Jolie, and others are filmed in real life, painted over and presented in 3-D. It looks like part animation, part real.
The 3-D effects in this one are so real, so in-your-face, it’s almost headache-inducing (and in my case, it was headache-inducing). Points of spears and, yes, as I wrote, the butts of swashbuckling Beowulf and Grendel’s mother. Limbs of dead or maimed characters coming at you, along with water, blood, and other flying objects. Characters faces right in yours. It’s really fantastic to see. And while it’s great in a standard moviehouse, it’s best seen at an IMAX theater, if there’s one close by.
Again, definitely not for kids–as it’s bloody, violent, scary (all made more so by the AMAZING! 3-D effects), and full of adult themes and sexual double entendres. And it’s definitely not the textbook, dull tome I remember reading in school. So, it doesn’t serve educational purposes.
Enjoyable and entertaining. And very fun.

Well, no, it’s not Jimmy. It’s actually the far more unsexy, leftist, anti-troops Matt Damon, as arbitrarily determined for all mankind’s women by some gay writers at People Magazine.
But, still, People asked Jimmy in its “Sexiest” issue–on stands Friday (as if you cared)–what he would do in the unlikely chance he was picked as “The Sexiest Man Alive”. His answers:

* “I would call Brad Pitt (Sexiest Man Alive 1995, 2000) just to laugh at him, hang up and continue laughing like a maniac.”
* “I’d never wear a shirt. Not to the bank. Not to the mailbox.”
* “I’d make back hair the new fashion ‘do.’ “

A Good Sense of Humor is Always Sexy

* “I would decoupage the walls of my house with thousands of my ‘Sexiest’ magazine covers.”
* “I’d charge people $4 to look at my face, $2 for seniors.”
* “I would call George Clooney (Sexiest Man Alive 1997, 2006) every day and ask, ‘Hey George, I forgot, who is the Sexiest Man Alive again? Oh that’s right, it’s me.’ “

Arabic is now the fastest growing language among students learning a foreign language in America’s colleges and universities. It’s now in the top ten. That’s good news and bad.
I’ll start with the good, first:
For years, we’ve had a shortage of reliable Arabic speakers, readers, and writers in our law enforcement and intelligence agencies. That’s led those organizations to hire many Arabic linguists who are Muslim extremists. In turn, those extremists frequently lied about what was in documents and on surveillance tapes, either misleading federal authorities and jeopardizing Americans, or increasing the backlog of Arabic language items that need to be re-translated, or both.

If more American college students learn Arabic, we will finally be less reliant on those who hate us to “help” us into more trouble.
Now, the bad news, of which there is plenty:
* Only 23,974 college students are learning Arabic, enough to get it into the top ten, but not nearly enough to provide the number of analysts and translators we need right now, let alone the future.
* We don’t know who it is that is taking Arabic. Are they Tom and Jane from Podunkville, Iowa, who are basically pro-American and don’t have an agenda–the ideal FBI and CIA translators? Or is it Hamida and Suhail, whose parents came here respectively from Ramallah and Peshawar and hate America? We don’t want or need 24,000 of those. Not the kind of people we want as translators and not the kind whose Arabic lessons we should be funding with the oodles of federal tax dollars that are going into Title VI Arabic language funding on campus. Let them learn it at the mosque with their parents paying for it, instead of the taxpayers footing the bill.
* Arabic as taught on most college campuses is classical Arabic, not the currently used kind, which involves different national dialects of a more modern Arabic. As I learned when I was in college and took Arabic, that kind of Arabic is mostly useless and not the kind we need to translate documents and surveillance tapes.
* Most college Arabic programs are dominated by the pan-Islamist Middle Eastern Studies Association, which involves language and other aspects of learning Arabic that are biased against America and in favor of extremist Islam. In other words, we’re not just gaining new Arabic speakers and translators. We’re propagandizing them against us, which puts us back in the same boat we’re in now. We don’t need more John Walker Lindhs and Adam Gadahns. My Arabic language class at the University of Michigan was like this. There was no Israel, only Palestine. Yasser Arafat was a “peaceful world leader,” etc.
* Of course, even with thousands more non-Muslim Arabic speakers, the FBI would probably reject them, as they did with those from the Sephardic Jewish Community Center of Brooklyn. The FBI rejected them in favor of extremist Muslims because an Egyptian Muslim FBI agent didn’t want Jews. Way to go.

I screened “The Kite Runner,” today. I am prohibited from reviewing it until it comes out, December 21st. But I feel compelled to give this quick sneak preview comment: It’s a GREAT movie (yes, I did have my reservations with it, but overall, still great). Very powerful and riveting (and, ultimately, patriotic about America, too). Go see this when it comes out. (Sad that it’s mostly debuting in smaller arthouse theaters. Deserves better.)
One other thing: it is so powerful that a portion of the movie that reminded me of what my father went through when he was sick and made me cry . . . a lot. But it’s not a Lifetime-style movie. Just the opposite. And, yes, the movie involves Islam. Haven’t read the book, so I can’t say if it’s faithful to the read.

Since I’ve been following the trail of the Chahine Hezbollah organized crime family for years, I’ve learned a lot more about Hezbollah spy and FBI/CIA Agent Nada Nadim Prouty. Don’t forget that she and her sister Elfat El-Aouar Chahine are not the only members of their family to defraud the federal government in immigration, tax, and Hezbollah related matters. Another sister, an OB-GYN, Rula Nadim Al Aouar (different spelling to confuse/evade U.S. authorities–a common Muslim and Arab practice), also engaged in a sham marriage and immigration fraud.

FYI, contrary to my and other press reports, Prouty is not Muslim. She is Druze, a secretive offshoot of Islam, which has only one thing in common with Islam–the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr. In fact, her entire family, the El-Aouar a/k/a Al Aouar family is Druze. Her sister, Elfat, though, likely converted to Islam to marry Shia Muslim Hezbollah financier Talal Chahine.
And the sisters were active along with the entire Aouar family in Lebanon’s Syrian National Socialist Party, whose goal is a greater Arabic nation joining Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, “Palestine” (all of Israel), and even part of Turkey.
One of Prouty’s and El-Aouar’s relatives, Nidal El-Aouar trained in Syria, North Korea, and the-then Communist Soviet Union in booby-trapping cars for explosions on behalf of Syria. He was also involved in many roadside bombs, my Lebanese sources say.
If the FBI and CIA had only done their homework–not to mention, immmigration authorities–they would have discovered this as I did, and this whole mess could have been avoided. This should tell you something about their poor level of intelligence in Syria and Lebanon. Now Prouty can’t be deported after her short jailstay, because she knows too much from her CIA stint, the feds claim.
The El-Aouar family hails from the town of Kourna’il in the Jabal Libnan (Lebanon Mountain) area, in the county or region of Al-Matn. The town is East of Beirut, South of Tripoli, and North of Sidon and Tyre. Many of them still live there, but they’ve spread in Lebanon. Some members of the pro-Syrian family started residing in other two towns which are Kubai’e and Falougha, also in the Al-Matn region. The three towns are very close to each other.
Yes, not only Muslim Arabs are involved in immigration fraud and helping terrorist groups like Hezbollah. Others who are Christian and Druze do so, as well.
That’s a fact we must be cognizant of, but our authorities just aren’t.

Surprise!–She’s the sister-in-law of Hezbollah’s $20 million dollar financier Talal Khalil Chahine (owner of “La Shish” restaurants which remain open!), whom U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy allowed to flee the country. Prouty is the SISTER of Chahine’s wife, Elfat El-Aouar. Yup, LUUUV those great FBI and CIA Background Checks of agents.

And get this: The FBI and U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy (and before him, U.S. Attorneys Craig Morford and Jeffrey Collins) knew Prouty was a spy for Hezbollah back in 2003, but they allowed her to work for the FBI and CIA for over FOUR Years! They did not remove her from the job until the end of this past September–1.5 years after her brother-in-law was indicted for financing Hezbollah!!!!!!
And I was right on another thing. She will do no or almost no jail time. Read the plea agreement, linked above. As reader Tim points out:

Nada Nadim Prouty is facing less than 12 months of jail time, or no jailtime at all, and three years of supervised probation and a fine totaling $2,225 under the plea agreement.
For infiltrating the FBI and CIA and spying for Hezbollah.

I’m not sure why everyone is so surprised with today’s prosecution of Nada Nadim Prouty, an American Arab FBI agent and CIA analyst, for spying for Hezbollah and passing information on to the terrorist group. Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda, and other Islamic terrorist groups have long said they’d infiltrate the FBI and other American law enforcement organizations and they did.
That’s no surprise. In fact, what is surprising is that this woman is among the first they’ve caught. She’s a drop in the bucket. As long as we continue to hire Muslims to be translators and analysts, as long as we continue to give money to Arabic and Muslim schools to teach their kids Arabic instead of non-Muslim, non-Arab Americans, as long as the FBI (and ICE) continues to turn down Sephardic Jews and Maronite Lebanese Christians who speak Arabic and who’ve applied for jobs in favor of extremist Muslims, that’s the result we will get. Spies, spies, and more spies.

As my late Dad used to say, “Cast thy s*it upon the waters.” That’s what they did, even after 9/11 and even today. And that’s why they–and sadly, we–reap it back tenfold and more.
And this will continue until we change and until the FBI and the White House and the President and everyone else of authority in between continues to kowtow to the Barbarians inside our gate. Oh, and kudos to the FBI for, once again, doing another bang-up job in background checks. Do you think a non-Muslim, non-Arab would get such a lax once-over? Think again.
And we trust these Famous But Incompetents to protect us against terrorists? Heck, read the article. She was spying, and they still can’t admit she was spying. Good Luck, America:

A 37-year-old woman who previously worked as an FBI agent and a CIA analyst, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges involving her disclosure of information to people outside the government, CBS News has learned.
Sources say Nada Nadim Prouty, a Lebanese national and resident of
Virginia, entered the United States on a student visa and earned
citizenship through a sham marriage.
While officials say there is no evidence of actual espionage and no
evidence that she was working as a spy, she is accused of passing
information to sympathizers of Hezbollah, a group the U.S. has labeled a terrorist organization.
Sources say she came under suspicion after performing a number of
computer searches unrelated to cases she had been assigned to.
According to a Justice Department press release [DS: which is filled with self-congratulations by agents and DoJ officials who allowed her to remain on the job for FOUR years after they knew she was a spy], Prouty pleaded guilty
in the Eastern District of Michigan to charges of fraudulently obtaining U.S. citizenship, which she later used to gain employment at the FBI and CIA; accessing a federal computer system to unlawfully query information about her relatives and the terrorist organization Hezbollah; and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Oh, and by the way, a later draft of the same CBS report says this:

She used her access as an FBI agent to look up information about herself and her relatives, some of whom may have ties to Hezbollah. She also is accused of improperly taking classified information home with her.

Nice. She works for the FBI, AND she and her family work for Hezbollah. Like I said, hurray for those awesome FBI background checks of agents. Alhamdillullah [Praise Allah]!
Let’s see what kind of sentence she gets. Don’t hold your breath for them to throw the book at this poor Hezbollah-loving traitor. I predict a lot of lenience and a relatively paltry sentence for her.
The fact that she’s being “prosecuted” in the Eastern District of Michigan, the domain of Hezbollah-sympathizing U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy III a/k/a Abu Porno, means that they probably knew for several years that she was spying for Hezbollah and waited until she got all the goods before they moved on her. That’s Murphy’s standard M.O. for his Hezbo buds.
And please explain this part to me:

Um, call me stupid, but if “passing information to sympathizers of Hezbollah” is not “evidence of actual espionage” or “evidence that she was working as a spy,” then what the hell is? That quote above is one of the dumbest yet I’ve read coming out of the incompetent “Justice” Department.

While Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Chieftess Julie “Blackface” Myers a/k/a “The ICE Princess” tries to wait out the hold on her nomination, she’s engaging in more of her usual absurdity in non-enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws.
You’ll love the latest . . . with a catchy feminist twist. If you’re an illegal alien female (I doubt this will work with males but, with The ICE Princess, ya never know), you can claim you are lactating and must nurse your baby. And presto, you will be released from custody. Yes, just the latest item that puts the lie to her claim that catch and release of illegal aliens has ended. It hasn’t.

Check out this memo to all ICE Special Agents in Charge and Field Office Directors from The ICE Princess herself, as proof. And to top it off, she is citing failed former INS chief Doris Meissner and a memo she wrote in 2000. Um, hello . . . . Isn’t her failed leadership and your continued failed leadership how we got 20 million plus illegal aliens here in the first place? Here are the scintillating words of The ICE Princess on how to continue La Leche Catch And Release:

This memorandum serves to highlight the importance of exercising prosecutorial discretion [DS: Fancy phraseology for “if I want to release them, I can”] when making administrative arrest and custody determinations for aliens who are nursing mothers. The commitment by ICE to facilitate an end to the “catch and relase” procedure for illegal aliens does not diminish the responsibility of ICE agents and officers to use discretion in identifying and responding to meritorious health related cases and caregiver issues.
The process for making discretionary decisions is outlined in the attached memorandum of November 7, 2000, entitled “Exercising Prosecutorial Discretion.” [DS: by failed INS Chieftess Doris Meissner] Field agents and officers are not only authorized by law to exercize discretion within the authority of the agency, but are expected to do so in a judicious manner at all stages of the enforcement process. [DS: In other words, hey agents, please find excuses to release aliens into the general .’
For example, in situations where officers are considering taking a nursing mother into custody, the senior ICE field managers should consider:
* Absent any statutory detention requirement or concerns such as national security threats to public safety or other investigative insterests, the nursing mother should be released on an Order of Recognizance or Order of Supervision and the Alternatives to Detention programs should be considered as an additional enforcement tool.

As one of the many angry ICE agents writes:

This is going over real well. It’s been called the Lactation Memo. Seems every female illegal alien arrested these days is now claiming she has a kid at home, no daddy around and that she’s breast feeding–this is the way they get released. It’s the catch and lactate policy. La Leche League is doing an awesome job and our “leader” is right up there with the really important memos. Talk about a kick to the nuts of morale AGAIN. How bad is it when Jules is citing to Doris Meissner memos. In the words of Charlie Brown, “We’re Doomed !”.
Don’t get me wrong, child nourishment is important, but how TF is an agent supposed to know if someone is nursing? [Nipples] Check ? I went through INS Spanish Training and never had nursing or lactation on a vocab test. “Professora, como se dice lactating“?

Readers of this site are familiar with the story of Katherine Lester, about which I’ve written a great deal. She’s the young small-town Michigan girl who met “Abdullah Psycho” a/k/a Abdullah Jimzawi a/k/a Abdullah Jinzawi on MySpace. At 16, she ran away from home to convert to Islam, wear a hijab, and marry this Palestinian (who lied about his age online) in Jericho, Israel. She was stopped by the FBI in Jordan. But now she’s 18, and in September, she went back to be with Mr. Al-Psycho.

As I noted, Dr. Phil did a show on this, and it runs this week. It’s actually a two-parter airing tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday. Although I’m no fan of the follicularly-challenged know-it-all or Bride of Phil a/k/a Mrs. Phil, from the trailer (click on Wednesday), it looks as though the slant on this story is finally the right one (ie., that she’s in danger there and needs some sense knocked into her, which she didn’t get from her father and stepmother, who encouraged and glamorized this dumb relationship). The other media outlets–from “Good Morning America” to Seventeen Magazine–all portrayed it as a tender Romeo and Juliet love story.
Still, from the summaries the Dr. Phil show is sending out, that he’s still kinda clueless (thanks to reader Debra for sending these). For starters, she’s in Jericho, which is in Israel (some say, it’s the “West Bank”), NOT Gaza. Abdullah is at least 25, NOT 20, and claimed he was much younger on his MySpace page. And her father and stepmother encouraged the online relationship for two years, so it didn’t “continue secretly”:

Still, I think the line in the trailer in which Katherine’s mother talks about her daughter sums it up:

She’s so stupid.

Yup, stupid and stuck in Greater Islamia, which knows no borders.
Sadly, in the last two years, Katherine Lester was not in the custody of her mother, Shawn, and her sister. Instead, she was in the custody of her father, Terry, and stepmother, Krista, who pimped her out and encouraged this horrific relationship.

Readers of this site are familiar with Hamtramck, Michigan. I’ve written plenty over the last several years about this city surrounded on all borders by Detroit. It was a city of Polish Catholics, and my Polish great-great-uncle Chaim had shoe stores there at the turn of the century (that century).
Now, as I’ve repeatedly written, it has been taken over by Muslims mostly from Yemen and Bangladesh and encountered the extremism, religious intolerance, and violence that Islam often brings when it reaches critical mass in a Western setting.
Today’s Detroit Newsistan his an interesting, but not surprising, story about how Hamtramck is erasing cultural symbols and icons of its Polish heritage at the insistence of Muslims. A cafe that close up shop featured murals of Polish history and culture. The city bought them with an eye to putting them in a future museum of the city’s history. But that’s not what Muslims want, nor even the current Polish mayor of the town, Karen Majewski:

The recent closure of a longtime city landmark, the Holbrook Cafe, has prompted city officials to snap up the iconic restaurant’s murals of Polish history — and inadvertently sparked a debate about how the diverse city should remember its history.
City officials were among those who bought the colorful murals of Polish dancers, icons and composers with an eye toward incorporating them into a future museum about the city’s history.
But the one-time Polish stronghold now teems with those who trace roots to the Middle East, Africa and Bangladesh. As the pieces wait in storage while officials mull their fate, discussion is surfacing about how many of the images would be appropriate for a museum that’s in the works.
“Hamtramck is really conscious and really protective of its history,” said Mayor Karen Majewski, who, with a city resident, paid $80 in an auction at the cafe last month to take possession of about 16 of the indoor murals. “The murals are really priceless.”
The cafe, known to generations as a hot spot for wedding receptions and live music, featured a large mural outside tracing the history of Poland.
“Anything Polish in there (the museum) has to have a specific Hamtramck connection,” Majewski said. “We have to make sure all the city’s ethnic groups are represented. Our history is being made today as we change the full range of history and cultural life should be represented.”
Hamtramck is long remembered for its influx of Polish immigrants in the early 1900s when thousands flocked to the 2.2-square-mile city for jobs at the now-closed Dodge Main plant.
The population soared from 3,500 to more than 48,000 from 1910 to 1920, said Greg Kowalski, chairman of the city’s Historical Commission. Its population has since declined to about 23,000, and Kowalski said about 23 percent of residents are Polish. Now, nearly 30 languages are spoken in the city’s schools with ethnic groups ranging from African-American to Bangladeshi, Indian, Bosnian, Russian, Arab, German and Mexican.
But as times change, the Polish influence in the city should be remembered, said Chris Cornwell, 37, a resident. He said the cafe’s 4-foot-wide by 8-foot-tall panels depicting Polish philosophers and leaders help preserve the memory of his ancestors who once comprised 99 percent of the city.
“For a period of Hamtramck’s existence, the Polish culture was extremely defining,” said Cornwell, a lifelong resident. “This was a town made famous by Poles. This can be seen as the end of a cultural era for Hamtramck as it transitions into its next form.”
But Bengali resident Shahab Ahmed said factoring Muslims and other groups into the historical equation is increasingly important today.
“When you go to a city museum you look for your own history. I’d like to see when Bengalis came to their power and moved in and Arabs and also African-Americans,” said Ahmed, who was elected in 2003 to Hamtramck’s City Council as the first Asian immigrant and Muslim.
“That will make people excited to visit more.”

And people wonder why I call it Hamtramckstan. A rose is a rose.
Coming in a generation or two to your city. Americastan is almost here. And in some places, it’s already a foregone conclusion.
