Weekend Box Office: Ghetto-Sexual vs. Melodramatic Groundhog Day

By
Neither of the two big new releases, this weekend, are great. But one is far worse than the other. The choices are sort of sex-specific, as I predict men will like the Chris Rock comedy more and women will likely prefer the emotional thriller:
* “I Think I Love My Wife“: I Think I Hate This Movie. You know a movie isn’t exactly a masterpiece, when the promotional material they give out is thong underwear with a giant tag, featuring clever but sleazy dialogue from the movie relating to Latifah-wear (granny panties) vs. “tag and a–” (the only thing Chris Rock wants to see when looking at his wife’s underwear). Was this a movie or a night at SCORES with party favors?

If Chris Rock, who stars in and wrote this movie, set out to single-handedly throw out the achievement of the Huxtables in showing America that Black middle class professional families are just like White ones, he succeeded in spades. Good-bye, Heathcliff Huxtable, MD. Hello, vulgar ghetto-sexual hiding inside a fancy suit and a classy suburban house.
I simply can’t understand why the Black audience with whom I screened this movie were eating up this vulgar portrayal of middle-class Black American men as sex-obsessed, vulgar lowlifes whose every other word is either the F-word or the N-word (which is odd since, not long ago, Rock pledged to stop using the N-word; I guess he forgot). But ate it up, they did. And that’s why this stupid, rarely funny, racist movie will likely top the box, this weekend.
I like Chris Rock as a comedian. He’s funny. But his choice of movies is in the toilet. And this one is the epitome of that. A bored upper-middle-class Black investment banker (Rock) can’t get sex from his strict, lecturing, perfect wife. One day, a beautiful woman he had a crush on in college enters his office. And for most of the movie, he does the flirting dance with her. He wants to have an affair with her, but in the process of the chase turns his life upside down.
While the end message in this movie is ultimately a good one, the journey to get their is base, coarse, and very low-class. The many hard-working, successful Black professionals in America don’t need racist White moviemakers to take them down a notch. Chris Rock did the job for them, all with Black America enabling the guy. And they’ll enable him more, this weekend by sending a message to Hollywood that this kind of movie sells.
The best actor in the movie is not Rock but very minor co-star Steve Buscemi, who plays a philandering co-worker of Rock’s. He was the only funny thing in what is supposed to be a comedy, but doesn’t deliver the laughs that a Rock monologue does. Oh, and it was just thrilling (NOT) watching Stephen A. Smith on-screen, pretending to be an actor in a scene in which Rock and wife discuss the Jews with a fellow upscale Black couple.
Best line in the movie, which is essentially the movie’s questionable–but very true–moral message is delivered by Edward Herrmann, playing Rock’s boss:

You’ll lose a lot of money chasing women, but you’ll never lose women chasing money.

That line got the most applause and from the audience. Mildly entertaining, but skip this one–even if you’re a guy who likes male fantasy movies. In the end, this ain’t it. It’s just gratuitously crass with no purpose.

* “Premonition“: This psychological thriller starts out very well, but it gets so melodramatic with women screaming, shrieking, moaning, and crying, I thought I might be watching a Lifetime movie of the week. While it’s overall entertaining and engrossing, it’s a mix of chick-flick and thriller. Sometimes the mixture goes together like oil and water, as it did at times in this one.
Sandra Bullock plays a wife and mother of two children who gets premonitions that her husband will die in a car accident. One day he dies. The next day he’s still alive. Her days are out of order, and she soon realizes she is seeing into the future.
While it’s different and interesting, it has points where characters enter the story that really don’t belong and take away from the movie–like an eerie psychiatrist at a mental hospital. It’s interesting that Sandra Bullock chose to do this melodramatic women’s version of “Groundhog Day,” since she also did the time warp movie, “,” last year. I liked “The Lake House.” And while I liked this one, it wasn’t as good.
The message of this movie, often true, is that you can’t change fate. But you can improve upon the circumstances. I liked the spirituality of the movie and its inclusion of Christianity and faith in G-d.

Pets–The New People–Alert: More Evidence that PETA Has Won

By
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
Please take note that none of the pictures or services described in this post are parodies. I swear I’m not making this stuff up. It actually exists.
Yes, you, too, can now train your dog, Spot, to surf. Or your Shih Tzu can get a Shiatsu.
From the March/April issue of “Departures,” a luxury travel magazine, owned by American Express:

At the Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows, canine and feline clients . . . are greeted by name whenever they pass through the lobby. For the pup worried about wrinkles from sun damage–we’re looking at you, sharpei–check out the doggy cabanas at Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos, Mexico. More active hounds should head to Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa; the dog surfing lessons here ($300 for a one-night package) compete with a program at Honolulu’s Kahala Hotel & Resort that teaches dogs to obey commands in Hawaiian for the Most Amusing Pet-Service Award. A close runner-up: the Sarasota, Florida Ritz-Carlton, which rejuvenates pets with four types of massages ($130 for one hour), including Swedish and sports therapy. Las Ventanas has also added massage to its list of almost unbelievable pet services.

Um, “unbelievable” is not the word I’d use. More like, absurd.

Sorry, but if you have that kind of money to burn on pet surfing lessons and massage, spend it on or on something else more worthwhile, like helping victims of terrorism.
Yup, PETA–or as we prefer to call it here, PUTAh (People for the Unethical Treatment of Animals and humans)–has won. We are now treating our pets better than we treat most actual people. Animals have now been exalted to post-human status.

**** UPDATE: Tom of Hawaii Surf Session Report, a surfing expert and professional, writes:

G’Day Debbie:
Nice post about the pampering of dogs.
Real surf dogs don’t need lessons.
I just wanted to point out the cruelty of NOT providing a wet-suit for the dog in those cold Cali water.
Check out this surf dog….never had one lesson;-)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HXCxpG51-c
You rock!
Keep up the good work. God bless you.
Aloha, Aw-right
tom

Thanks, Tom. I guess we can’t expect animal-pandering hotels which teach dogs to surf, to actually know much about surfing.

Trump, Where Are You?: Rosie O’D Endorses 9/11 Conspiracy Theories

By
I thought America’s most famous annoying lesbian, Rosie O’Donnell, couldn’t get any loonier than this morning, when on national TV, she .
But I was so wrong.
This evening, Rosie O’D made it official: She believes in the 9/11 conspiracy theories. She said so on her blog.
Rosie believes that the World Trade Center Towers were blown up on purpose to shield WorldCom and Enron from an SEC investigation. She also believes it was done to destroy FBI, SEC, IRS, Secret Service, and Citibank’s Salomon Smith & Barney’s records.

Rosie O’Nutcase believes that 7 World Trade Center collapsed too perfectly in its footprint to have been a result of terrorist attacks.
She doesn’t believe a steel building could be brought down to rubble by fire, that the fires were not “evenly distributed” so the building couldn’t have been brought down by fire. Attention Rosie O’D, if the fires were evenly distributed, now that would be a conspiracy. Generally, fires that are evenly distributed are arson fires. Generally, fires cause by accidents are NOT evenly distributed.
Rosie believes that landlord Silverstein had some sort of conspiracy with the New York Fire Department to bring the building down. (You know–Silverstein? Why, of course, The Joooooos did it.)
She believes that New York firefighters knew ahead of time that the building was going to “blow up” and are now apparently lying and covering the “explosion” up by claiming it’s a fire.
Oh, and by the way, Rosie has closed the comments and trackbacks sections on her blog. Gee, I wonder why.
If only Rosie would have the guts to express her nutty conspiracy theories on TV for the world to see. Hmmm . . . I wonder what her conspiracy theory is for why Khalid Sheikh Mohammed openly bragged:

I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew, Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi, Pakistan. For those who would like to confirm it, there are pictures of me on the Internet holding his head.

Those certainly don’t sound like the words of someone undergoing torture. And even if he was “tortured,” he certainly wasn’t tortured into brutally murdering Daniel Pearl and bragging about it in photos on the Internet. And I fail to see how that is part of any “conspiracy theory” to help Worldcom and Enron.
Memo to Barbara Walters: Time for a special spin-off show hosted by Rosie O’Donnell–“The View from Roosevelt Psychiatric Hospital.”

Religion of Fraud: Muslims Defraud Medicare of Millions

By
If you follow Medicare and Medicaid fraud cases, as I do, you’d note that most of the big criminal indictments and charges in these cases in Michigan are against Muslims.
Yes, the “Religion of Peace” has found that tax-funded medical coverage is a good source for bilking. Muslim doctors, nurses, “entrepreneurs” and other members of RoP have been indicted over the past several years.
Unfortunately, the FBI healthcare fraud agents and Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (HHS-OIG) agents working in this area are incompetent. I know–I’ve worked with some of them on investigations.
The latest case is that of Shafiulla Hanif Abdul, who defrauded Medicare of billions. Criminal charges brought against him were announced yesterday. He is a Muslim and so are his friends and relatives who are part of a web of 40 Metro Detroitistan companies that are part of a multi-million dollar set of scams. More details:

Federal agents on Wednesday brought the first criminal charge in what they say is a series of complex, multimillion-dollar schemes across Metro Detroit to bilk Medicare through fraudulent billing. . . .
Officials said about 40 Metro Detroit companies, many connected by “webs” of friends and relatives, are under FBI investigation.
Shafiulla Hanif Abdul, 36, of Brownstown Township, who has done business under the names Hands-On Rehab Services Inc. and M&M Management Inc., was charged Wednesday with one count of executing a scheme to defraud a health care benefit program.
According to an FBI affidavit, Abdul paid Medicare recipients hundreds of dollars to provide their Medicare ID numbers and repeatedly put their signatures on blank sheets of paper. Abdul sold the fraudulent documents to companies that billed Medicare for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and possibly millions, in physical therapy services that were never performed, the complaint alleges. . . .
Fraudulent billings related to six Abdul recruits amounted to $166,000 between 2004 and 2007, the affidavit attached to the complaint says. Suspicious billings related to the Abdul investigation could exceed $10 million, based on similarities in doctors’ names appearing on the referrals and the physical therapy centers used, the affidavit attached to the complaint says. . . .
Recruiters visit soup kitchens and senior apartment buildings to get Medicare health card numbers they can use, sometimes paying recruits a few hundred dollars to surrender their numbers or repeatedly sign their names.
“These patient files are then sold, typically via check, to a Medicare-certified provider who bills for the services as if (they) actually conducted the services themselves,” the FBI affidavit said.
The affidavit details well over $1 million moving into bank accounts controlled by Abdul from area physical therapy centers that were billing Medicare.

As I said, I’ve worked the FBI and HHS-OIG agents in charge of investigating this stuff, including the incompetent, roly-poly Thomas Spokaeski, who oversaw this investigation. Since I know the laziness and sloth of him and his agents, bet on this:
If they say it’s a multi-million dollar scam with 40 companies involved, it’s more like a multi-billion dollar scam with 400 companies and associates involved, or more–many of whom will get away with it and continue to defraud taxpayers.
And where is the money going? Well, some of the many may have found its way back to Lebanon, Syria, and elsewhere in the Mid-East, sources tell me. And the FBI and HHS agents are too lazy to do the work to put an end to it all.
Maybe they should change the name from Medicare to “Muslim”Care. After all, Muslims are helping themselves to U.S. taxpayer funds, while poor and old people for whom it is meant suffer without proper medication and healthcare.

Congratulations, Mayor Delshad & Iranian Jews Who Wanted ENGLISH Ballots

By
Recently, I told you about Jimmy Delshad, the Iranian-Jewish-American who was the frontrunner to become Mayor of Beverly Hills. Well, on March 6th, Delshad got the votes, and he’ll be Bevery Hills’ next mayor.
Delshad will also be the highest ranking Iranian-American in the U.S., which as I wrote, is a great finger in the eye to anti-Semitic Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Also, of note, I told you that because of an absurd federal law, Beverly Hills was sending out ballots in Farsi, which garnered hundreds of complaints from the many Iranian-born Jews who live and vote in Beverly Hills and who are proud Americans that pride themselves in speaking and reading English. More from today’s USA Today:

Beverly Hills’ Mayor-Elect Jimmy Delshad & Wife Lonnie

City Clerk Byron Pope ordered ballots in last week’s election printed in English, Spanish and Farsi. City Hall received hundreds of complaints concerning the ballots, including many from Iranians, outgoing Mayor Steve Webb says. “They were upset and embarrassed. They’re very proud of being Americans, proud of their command of the English language.”

To reiterate, this is the difference between Jews and others who come here from Muslim countries and Muslims who come here. The Infidels adapt to America. The Muslims who come here want America to transform itself into Islamerica.
Go to Dearbornistan, and unless you read Arabic, there are so many sections where you’ll be in another country.

Islam v. 1st Amendment: Flying Imams Seek to Sue All Passengers Who Complained

By
You know how Muslims are always whining about the First Amendment and how it protects their right to openly support Islamic terrorists who want to blow us all up? Well, as I’ve always noted, they believe in the First Amendment only for themselves–AND NOT FOR US INFIDELS. (That also puts the lie to their many lawsuits pursuing the “Equal Protection” clause. They don’t want Equal Protection for the rest of us.)
Well, now, there’s yet another example–in the form of the Flying Imams’ lawsuit. Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Katherine Kersten writes in her blog about a startling piece about a section hidden deep inside the Flying Imams’ lawsuit. They want to sue all passengers who exercised their First Amendment rights and reported the imams to flight crew and law enforcement. This could have a very chilling effect on anyone inclined to report on suspicious activities of those who appear to be terrorists:

(Artwork by Jeff Holland of Holland Studios)

The most alarming aspect of the imams’ suit is buried in paragraph 21 of their complaint. It describes “John Doe” defendants whose identity the imams’ attorneys are still investigating. It reads: “Defendants ‘John Does’ were passengers – who contacted U.S. Airways to report the alleged ‘suspicious’ behavior of Plaintiffs’ performing their prayer at the airport terminal.”
Paragraph 22 adds: “Plaintiffs will seek leave to amend this Complaint to allege true names, capacities, and circumstances supporting [these defendants’] liability – at such time as Plaintiffs ascertain the same.”
In plain English, the imams plan to sue the “John Does,” too.
Who are these unnamed culprits? The complaint describes them as “an older couple who was sitting [near the imams] and purposely turn[ed] around to watch” as they prayed. “The gentleman (‘John Doe’) in the couple – picked up his cellular phone and made a phone call while watching the Plaintiffs pray,” then “moved to a corner” and “kept talking into his cellular phone.”
In retribution for this action, the unnamed couple probably will be dragged into court soon and face the prospect of hiring a lawyer, enduring hostile questioning and paying huge legal bills. The same fate could await other as-yet-unnamed passengers on the US Airways flight who came forward as witnesses.

If I were advising these John Doe passengers, I’d tell them to get together as a group and hire an attorney. They can probably get someone good to represent them pro bono. And then, if and when they are sued–either in name or as John Does–they should immediately file a Motion for Summary Disposition, getting themselves dropped from this absurd lawsuit.
And then, I would advise them to file suits against CAIR and every single one of the flying imams for damages and emotional pain and suffering. Sue their asses.
Thanks to the many readers who alerted me to this.

OUTRAGE: Rosie O’Donnell Feels Bad for 9/11 Mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

By
**** UPDATE #2: . The crack-up continues. ****
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
This is the last straw. If Barbara Walters doesn’t fire Rosie O’Donnell from “The View” over comments O’Donnell made on today’s episode, then she never will.
Today, O’Donnell said she feels bad for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM). She doesn’t believe he’s responsible for anything in 9/11 or any of the 31-plus plots which he volunteered to American authorities. Among the worst of her comments, O’Donnell derided airhead pseudo-conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck (who is ZERO match for O’Donnell on the intellectual scale) for calling KSM a “terrorist,” saying, “So, calling him a terrorist robs him of all of his humanity?”
WHAT?!!!!! This man planned the 9/11 attacks that murdered 3,000 Americans. And Rosie O’Donnell is worried we will “rob him of all humanity” because we call him a “terrorist.” Hello . . . ?!

SICKENING: Rosie O’Donnell Hearts Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

O’Donnell’s comments were not only outrageous, they showed her utter stupidity about the entire Khalid Sheikh Mohammed history and situation. O’Donnell showed the well-known photo of a haggard KSG in a white undershirt. She remarked that he doesn’t look very healthy after three years in captivity under U.S. authorities.
But, as anyone with a clue knows, that picture has been around for three years for a reason. It was taken when he was found hiding in Pakistan and taken by U.S. authorities back 2003. That’s why he looks haggard. But the millions of stupid women who watch “The View” and drink her Kool-Aid will never know that. And they will think that U.S. authorities—-have made KSM look that way.
Then, there are O’Donnell’s comments about KSM admitting to planning the 9/11 attacks. She yelled, “So we finally got the guy. He just so happened to admit to all of these things. And it’s not Bin Laden? It’s this guy?” She then said that she doesn’t believe he’s responsible for any of it, and that we Americans tortured him and got him to admit to it. She shreiked on and on that we Americans torture these poor people.
Get a clue, Rosie. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is the uncle of Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center attacks committed by Al-Qaeda. I’m sure that’s just an accident of birth to her, even though we know that Yousef and his uncle, KSM, met to plan and discuss the 1993 attacks.
Then, there’s the fact that KSM worked for Bin Laden. He described himself as Bin Laden’s chief operative in conducting global terrorist attacks. Just because KSM organized the 9/11 attacks, doesn’t mean Bin Laden didn’t have a thing to do with it. Bin Laden approved KSM’s plan and work (and in fact overruled KSM’s plan to hijack 12 planes on that day, as unworkable). Does O’Donnell think that Al-Qaeda is just one person, and that Bin Laden does all the work? Hello . . . ?
Time for Rosie O’Donnell, airhead and terrorist-apologist extraordinaire, to get fired. Or time for us to fire ABC from our viewing choices.
And time for “The View” to get a real conservative who actually has a clue to respond to this outrageous commentary.
Attention, Donald Trump: I’m looking forward to your response to Rosie on this one.
Video posted at Hot Air.
**** UPDATE: My long-time friend, Brian, a career American soldier, writes:

Rosie is a total buffoon. I cannot believe they let that idiot come to San Antonio and be part of the dedication for the Center for the Intrepid, the new center at Brook Army Medical Center for badly wounded soldiers. She’s a disgrace, and you could look long and hard to find a servicemember that respects her, especially those guys that are the ones getting wounded.

Gee, why am I not surprised? Whose idea was it to invite her to dedicate the Intrepid? That’s absurd.

A Wolf in Christian Clothing: Man Bilks Christians of Millions to Fund Islamic Terror

By
I’ve written a lot over the years about Islamic charities that pretend to be raising money for the poor, but are actually deliberately funding terrorists. And I wrote about how the .
Now, it’s mainstream Christians who have to beware where there money is going.
A man purporting to raise money in the name of Christianity and an online Biblical data exchange bilked hundreds of Canadian and American Christians and their churches out of millions of dollars and GAVE THE MONEY TO ISLAMIC TERRORISTS TO FUND A TERRORIST TRAINING CAMP IN AFGHANISTAN.

Brian David Anderson: Bilked Christian Funds to Fund Islamic Terrorism

From the Canadian Press:

A Canadian arrested in Spain and suspected of helping finance Islamic terrorist activities has a history of trouble with Ontario and B.C. securities regulators and faces a lawsuit in Nevada that claims he targeted Christian congregations for his alleged scams.
Brian Anderson appeared before Spanish investigative magistrate Baltasar Garzon at the National Court on Tuesday and said he was not opposed to being extradited to the U.S. where he is wanted for fraud.
A website set up by investors who say they have lost money to Anderson claims the man has used Christianity and fraudulent schemes to scam hundreds of Canadian and Americans out of tens of millions of dollars.
The site, which includes links to the B.C. [British Columbia] and Ontario securities regulators proceedings against Anderson, says he is an ordained minister and self-proclaimed born-again Christian and includes pictures of Anderson and his family.
It also features a 2005 lawsuit filed against Anderson and several others in the U.S. District Court in Nevada alleging fraud, negligence and racketeering.
The lawsuit accuses Anderson of persuading investors to put their money in a Bible-based public trust that would then become a data exchange that would be backed by gold.
The lawsuit, which includes claims that have not yet been proven in court, demands $20 million from each defendant.
The 61-year-old Anderson was jailed on Saturday after he was found at a Madrid hotel by a joint operation of Spanish authorities and the FBI. An extradition request from the U.S must arrive at the Spanish court within 40 days.
The Spanish Interior Ministry said he is wanted by U.S. authorities for fraud that amounts to US$23 million and is believed to have helped finance a training camp in Afghanistan.
It said Anderson is thought to be linked to a New York businessman, Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari, 53, who was charged last month with terrorism financing, material support of terrorism and money laundering.
. . .
The B.C. Securities Commission has also accused Anderson of bilking investors of millions of dollars using a business called Frontier Assets and another investment program called the Alpha program.

Beware of where your donations are going, regardless of your religious institution.
Thanks to reader Paul for the tip.

Will James Bond’s Car Abide by Arab Boycott of Israel?

By
As I detailed yesterday, a group of , the famous luxury sports car traditionally driven by James Bond in the movies.
But after I wrote the post, I wondered whether Aston Martin will now abide by the Arab boycott of Israel. As part of the boycott, it is Kuwaiti law that no Kuwaiti or Kuwaiti company may do business with Israel or any companies doing business with Israel. Since that’s the case, it follows that both Investment Dar Co. and Adeem Investment KSC–the companies which now control Aston Martin–abide by the Arab boycott of Israel.

That’s significant because we have federal anti-boycott laws here in the States specifically outlawing compliance with the Arab boycott of Israel: the 1977 amendments to the Export Administration Act and the Ribicoff Amendment to the 1976 Tax Reform Act. (The federal statute citation is 15 CFR 760 et seq.) And there is a special office to enforce them, the Office of Antiboycott Compliance of the Bureau of Industry and Security in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Aston Martin does sell some cars in the U.S. And Ford Motor Company will maintain a stake (beside that which it sold to the Kuwaitis) in Aston Martin. We hope that the Antiboycott Compliance people will be looking very closely at the future dealings of Aston Martin. For instance, will it buy glass windshields from Guardian Industries, which has plants in Israel?
It’s a sure bet that with Kuwaiti companies taking over at Aston Martin, compliance with the Arab Boycott will ensue. Again, hopefully, someone is watching.
It would be a shame if those that now produce James Bond’s car are boycotting Israel in yet another manifestation of rampant anti-Semitism. But that’s, unfortunately, very likely.
