Stop Sending Me His False Video: Steven Crowder Pulls “Facts” Out of His Butt; Fake News Shown on FOX News

By Debbie Schlussel

For the last couple of days, many readers have been sending me a video on Detroit produced by Steven Crowder of PJTV and shown on FOX News.  Please stop sending the video to me.  Yes, a lot of ignorant conservatives, like the uber-ignorami at unHot Airheads, have been posting it on their sites eating it–and all the fiction therein–up.  It’s getting tens of thousands of views and is all over the Net.  Problem is, it’s mostly lies.  Detroit is bad enough, so much so that a great video on Detroit could have been made without making stuff up.  But making it all up is what Crowder did.  Hey, don’t blame him.  He can’t be bothered with actually looking up facts, ‘cuz he’s too busy making know-it-all, “edgy” (but not really) videos.  If you liked the video, you got punked by this self-styled “Conservative Punk.”

stevencroderfactchecking

Steven Crowder: What–Me Worry . . . About the Facts?

Pretty much every “fact” in his video “report” simply isn’t true.  Lies.  He should stick to his lame rap videos about Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize and leave journalism to people who actually care about presenting truth.  While Crowder may have spent two second video-taping the obvious decrepit buildings and houses around Detroit and some time putting snappy muzak on the soundtrack, what he didn’t do is the tiniest bit of research.  Because, ya know, that would involve work.  And why do that, when you can just utter fake “facts” you pulled out of your ass?

And lies like these must be why FOX News personalities like Sean Vannity and Greg Gutfeld like this lying performance artist and present him on their shows, Vannity as a “healthcare” expert (and the FOX & Friends gang even showed this false video, with its flat-out lies), now their “Detroit” expert, and at other times, their “expert” on other things.  And that’s why conservative “journalism” isn’t taken seriously.  One of the problems with many conservatives is that, while they complain about the lies and fake “facts” presented by the mainstream media, when it’s their turn, they do much of the same.  And with Crowder, he also tries waaaay too hard to be “hip,” in addition to trying way too little to present facts and truth.  As someone who lives in the Detroit area, I didn’t even need to do the research to spot at least ten lies and fake “facts” in his piece.  Some of them are major:

CROWDER LIE:  Crowder decries the UAW’s “job banks,” which he says continue to pay autoworkers not to work.

FACT:  Well, if he made his video a year ago, that would still be true.  But even over a year ago, the UAW already agreed in writing to end them, and they were mostly gone by November 2008.  The UAW Chrysler Job Bank completely and officially ended on January 26, 2009.  The UAW GM Job Bank completely and officially ended on February 2, 2009.  (Ford’s UAW Job Bank was also scrapped at the beginning of the year.)  Now, why would I want to watch a video that claims something that ended a year ago is still going on?  Like I said Steven “conservative punk” Crowder–who is trying so hard to be hip that he isn’t–isn’t trying too hard to give us actual facts.

CROWDER LIE:  Steven Crowder reports that there have been bear sightings in Detroit.

FACT:  Hmmm . . . that’s news to me, and to every Detroit resident and media report, mainstream or otherwise.  The  closest story I can find is a bear sighting in rural Manchester, Michigan in August, 2008, and that’s 54 miles away.  There have been coyote sightings in Detroit, as in many major cities in America.  And I’ve written about that on this site.  But no bears, which is entirely different and more foreboding.  Crowder just pulled that out of his ass.  Made it up.  Like much of his video.  Here’s a tip for Steven Crowder, the only bear you’ll see in Detroit is at the Detroit Zoo’s polar bear exhibit.  But the zoo isn’t even in Detroit.  It’s in the suburb of Royal Oak.

CROWDER LIE:  Steven Crowder claims the average house in Detroit is $5,700.

FACT:  Actually, as I noted at the end of October, it’s $7,100.  Not that this is much better, but I don’t deal in “Steven Crowder pulled it out of his ass to make a hip, edgy video.”  I deal in actual facts.  You should, too. Unless  you want to give liberals even more fodder for their attacks on conservatives, of which Crowder gives ‘em plenty.

CROWDER LIE:  Steven Crowder “reports” that Detroit’s unemployment rate is 28.9%.

FACT:   While the official number is actually 27% (and why not add on an extra 1.9%–ya know–just to make it “dramatic”?), it’s actually more like 45%.  See, when you do your homework–Crowder’s dog “ate” his–your story becomes stronger and more powerful.

CROWDER LIE:  Steven Crowder claims that the Detroit high school graduation rate is 25%.

FACT:  Actually, it’s 58%.  But, hey, 25%, 58%–what’s the difference, right Steven?  Making videos gives us “poetic license.”  Doesn’t it?

CROWDER LIE:  Crowder claims that the reason Detroit went down the crapper and many of the houses and buildings are decrepit is because of liberal Democrat Mayors back to 1961, the New Deal, and Lyndon Johnson’s “Model Cities” program.

FACTS:  Actually two of the mayors he cites–the two White ones–Roman Gribbs and Jerry Cavanaugh were conservative by today’s standards and would be more conservative than many so-called conservative Republicans of today.  What made Detroit go down the tubes was White flight, followed by Black middle class flight.  As I’ve noted on this site, that happened markedly after the 1967 Detroit riots, which Crowder doesn’t mention because, well, he hasn’t a clue.  And while he wants to blame Detroit’s failure on liberal Democrat Mayors, it’s actually more due to liberal Democrat, far-left loony-bin Detroit City Council Members, who took over after White flight.  But, you’d actually have to do research and know something about Detroit to know that.

Moreover, more than one of the buildings in the video is blighted not because of the things he cites.  Steven Crowder shows us (but doesn’t identify it by name) the old Detroit train station building.  It’s a magnificent building that is falling apart.  But the real story behind it is that it’s owned by billionaire Lebanese cretin Manuel “Matty” Moroun.  He also owns Detroit’s Ambassador Bridge to Canada.  Moroun–a close associate and donor to deposed former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick–made a Kilpatrick-oiled deal with the City of Detroit to renovate the building and make it the new headquarters of the Detroit Police Department.  And although many City leaders and City Council members wanted it razed, he refused.  That’s not a story about liberalism.  It’s a story about a corrupt billionaire who greased the skids of a corrupt inner city Mayoral thug (who, yes, was a liberal Democrat).  It’s an interesting story that could have made a great video narrative.  But not from Steven Crowder . .  who hasn’t a clue.

Believe me, I have no love for the City of Detroit, even though I live on its outskirts.  And I’m probably the city’s biggest critic, for which I’m often under fire.  But I deal with facts.  It’s very easy to make a video of broken down buildings and abandoned houses inhabited by crack whores and squatters in Detroit.  They’re all over the city.  That’s hardly news to those of us who’ve lived in the area and seen these buildings all of our lives. It’s no special insight that he did a video of it, as there are a gazillion of them all over YouTube that are far more stark and effective. I could do it in five minutes and edit it in less than half an hour.  The tough work is actually doing your homework and research.

If you want to be a conservative journalist, you actually have to make the word “journalism” come first.  And, yes, you actually have to do the basic things you’d learn the most basic high school journalism class:  check the facts and do research.

Sadly, Steven Crowder apparently didn’t even make it past high school journalism.  And that makes him no better–and, really, exactly the same–as the lying liberal “journalists” we always decry in the mainstream media.

So, what else did Steven Crowder lie about?  Who knows?  I do know this, though.  People behave in consistent patterns.  And you can bet Steven Crowder’s other reports, videos, and statements are equally as fictional.

You simply can’t believe a thing he says (including when he repeats it on FOX News). (And you have to wonder what else is so poorly fact-checked at PJTV. Probably everything.)

Who needs liars on the left, like Michael Moore, when we have liars on the right, like Steven Crowder, who are just as unethical and loose with the facts?

More of the Dumbing Down Of America and the desperation of conservatives to clutch at ANY messiahs who will lead them out of the political wilderness. The fact-challenged Steven Crowders of the world aren’t going to get it done.

Hello Debbie,

Yes, I viewed the video. Yes, there are some missed facts as you’ve noted. But, yes, I am a Detroiter…Eastsider from the 1940s actually, but am familiar with all of Wayne County…and other areas…because of my former sales territories. In 1990, I moved back and lived in Detroit before moving in the mid-2000s. My family has lived in Detroit for more than 100 years. I have started businesses in Detroit. I have worked for the City and for Wayne County. I worked downtown during the 1967 riots. I have bi-racial relatives. I have multi-ethnic relatives. I have Christian, Jewish-conversion, atheist, agnostic, etc. relatives. About 7 years ago, a friend who has been all over the world courtesy of the Air Force visited me in Detroit while he was on leave. We drove the old neighborhoods. He cried…a grown man…he cried because of what he saw. There were rapes, murders, druggies, B & Es, beatings, arsons…you name it, we had it in our neighborhood and on family property. The video was mild compared to reality. Matty Maroun is a hardcore business man. He is successful. There is nothing wrong with that unless there was something illegal done, but I am not aware of any illegalities. Check into the often denied NAFTA Super Highway and perhaps some of the proposed routes will explain why the Rail Station could be of value. I have lived in a number of U.S. cities over the past 30+ years and Detroit is the basket
case. It has more problems than just an amateurish video could even hope to present. Debbie, you are a very influential person, well-known, and very intelligent. Please think of an action plan and publish it so everyone can see that there are viable options to “business as usual” in Detroit. Thank you and I will enjoy reading your site every day as I have done for yers now. Best Regards.

Detroit, 1979/80. There was a place, a gift shop downtown called, “Emily’s Across The Street”. I don’t recall what it was across the street from-Joe Louis arena? Emily was supposedly the sister of actor Max Gail, “Wojo” on the show Barney Miller. Fleeting fame, eh? That’s my Detroit memory.

Douglas Q on December 23, 2009 at 1:17 pm

[Debbie – If you want to be a conservative journalist, you actually have to make the word “journalism” come first. And, yes, you actually have to do the basic things you’d learn at a high school newspaper: check the facts and do research.]

I think this is the problem. To succeed in journalism today you need to be fast and entertaining. Often times those goals and being accurate are mutually exclusive. Rush Limbaugh usually does it all, but not always. I don’t know of anyone one else who even comes close to Rush.

How much money does Debbie make? How much does Glenn Beck (or Vanity, etc.) make? Rush is the one exception.

IAM: Huh? Why decry Michael Moore and Keith Olbermann if you’re justifying being “fast and entertaining”? The video would have been just as fast and entertaining had he stuck to the truth. He chose to be lazy and make up stuff. We can hardly complain when the liberal media does this, if we defend our own who do it. Rush is not a reporter (and Vannity and Beck certainly aren’t) and never does original reports or videos. This guy is claiming to be a journalist and reporter. He’s just a liar. DS

I_AM_ME on December 23, 2009 at 1:25 pm

Rush Limbaugh is a commentator, and not a reporter. Also, he is amply compensated, just like the others you brought up. Your post appears to imply that the others have financial concerns that Rush doesn’t.

    Worry01 on December 23, 2009 at 3:32 pm

Crowder is a tool. His “facts” are NOT needed. The real ones are bad enough.

Regardless, the dems/libs/progs running big city governments and education play a big part in the demise of this country.

Detroit? I can show you the same in Phila, NY, Baltimore, etc etc, etc.

The entitlement/victim culture will ruin this country.

Also: Crowder’s claims aside, the recent elimination of UAW Job Banks doesn’t take away the damages done during the years they were in force.

SA: No-one is arguing that the Job Banks were bad or how major cities are run into the ground. This post is about how Steven Crowder is a liar, makes up stuff, and can’t be believed. It’s also how conservatives have no right to decry liberal media lies if we’re gonna embrace liars and lazy-asses like this guy, Steven Crowder, whose “work” was presented as fact by FOX News, this week. As I noted in this post, Detroit is bad enough without lying about it and making stuff up. But this Crowder idiot is too lazy to actually do his homework. He “knows it all.” And none of it is true. The bear sighting in Detroit was simply idiocy. DS

Sam Adams on December 23, 2009 at 1:40 pm

Me thinks Debbie doth protest a bit much here. While Crowders reporting may have not been 100% dead on accurate, they are very close to the truth. The UAW work banks did exist and they did contribute to the downfall of the domestic auto industry. Houses are dirt cheap and unemployment is super high. Whether it’s 29% or 27% is hardly a significant difference.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m a fan of Debbie in general but you can’t deny that Detroit is a crappy city ruined by decades of policies of the left for the most part.

O: Let me translate what you’re saying in a much more honest, less phony & hypocritical way: Detroit is in horrible condition, so therefore it’s A-OK for a conservative so-called “journalist” to lie and make up facts because he’s not a liberal, but I will continue to complain when liberals in the media lie, because only we conservatives are allowed to lie and fabricate to make our “unique, insightful, and original” point–which has already been made a million times before about Detroit–yet another time. Whether or not he pulls all of the fake facts entirely out of his ass is not important because I agree with him, so lies are good.

Thanks, Oscar, for letting us know that the ends justifies the means with you and false reporting and lying media is okay, so long as it’s your viewpoint that is being expressed. He could have made the same video and done some research for the actual facts. But he was lazy and chose to lie to make the same points. You respect lazy liars and don’t care for honest people who actually do their homework to present the real facts.

You clearly didn’t read a thing here. The UAW jobs banks ended over a year ago. He claims they still exist, etc., etc. ad nauseam. The point is NOT what caused the problems. It’s that Steven Crowder (and you) think it’s okay to lie (and be completely lazy and make up facts) in order to make your points. You have as much respect from me as Michael Moore and Dan Rather get. The three of you all think it’s okay to lie and fabricate to score points. Sorry, but I’d take an honest liberal over a lying conservative any day of the week. A visible snake is less dangerous than a cobra hidden inside a poodle costume. DS

Oscar on December 23, 2009 at 2:04 pm

Accuracy is a very important thing in reporting. If you wish to complain about the MSM fabricating the news or slanting it, you will not have much to stand on if you do the same thing in your reporting. There is plenty of low quality “conservative” journalism out there that is embarassing garbage that is easily refuted–World Net Daily collects much of this and pushes it as news, rather than as the half-truths and fantasies fit for John Birch Society members and Buchananites.

    Worry01 on December 23, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Debbie, this is why I love you more than any other conservative or so called conservative.

Thank you for never compromising. A lie is a lie and the truth is the truth no matter who is telling it.

Jeff_W on December 23, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Debbie – I was not justifying anything. I don’t justify it. I was merely attempting to portray the situation as many see it. While the video may have been just as entertaining had he stuck to the truth, it would have taken him longer to make it, so it would not have been just as fast (We may not be referring to the same thing here, by fast I meant the amount of time taken to complete the video).

You are correct about Rush and the others not being reporters, I should not have mentioned that.

I_AM_ME on December 23, 2009 at 3:04 pm

This punk sounds as though he’s making a push for prominence in the media world just like the blond bimbo narrow-assed toothpick Ann Coulter. He’s trying to vy for enough attention so when his stupid book comes out people would’ve already heard of him that he may sell a copy or two.
Debbie here you are intelligent great business woman, shows alot of promise, WHAT IN HELL ARE YOU STILL DOING IN DETROIT? You’re sliding into train tracks in the winter and dealing with such blite year round. Property is real cheap in Florida right now. I live upstate New York and I’m sick of these winters plus corrupt government and heavy-handed taxes. I just got back from Fla. last week doing alittle house-hunting maybe I’ll go for something larger in case I want a roommate? Let me know what you think.

the question of old broken big city train stations, chicagostan is lucky all of ours were put to good use and don’t look anything like the one in detroit but the buffalo one looks just as broken as the detroit one.

he should have done his home work and used current figures. white flight wasn’t just a detroit problem chicago had it’s 67 riots and white flight too but our down town and lake front don’t look anything like detroit even our poor black sections don’t look that bad although they are bad.

he could have made the same or better vedio if he had done his homework.

We are reaping the rotten legacy of postmodern teaching in the colleges. It doesn’t matter what is right or wrong; it’s what you believe that is important.
So-called conservatives who are intellectually lazy and opportunistic will say something because they believe it might be true, or that it should be true, or it is supposed to be true. In this economy there is immense pressure for columnists and media personalities to gain or retain listeners or readers, and unfortunately that comes ahead of honesty for most of them. It’s ironic that with more access than ever to accurate information, there is a mushrooming of false and incorrect information on all sides.

Little Al on December 23, 2009 at 6:16 pm

I agree with Deb, it would not have taken much time to research. While some slackers just don’t care about being taken seriously, this dude is an ironist.

Skanktown on December 23, 2009 at 8:07 pm

Debbie the problem with people lately is they want to go along to get along and attain popularity. Someone posted that on another article that you were an elitist. No I think you have and live by high standards. Some people are happy about the slop poured in the trough as long as the rest of the crowd is eating away.

The secret the Conservative Clique of Vannity, O’Reiley, Malkin, and Beck the rest is they don’t truly believe their followers are intelligent enough to understand the true beliefs of Conservatism. So they hand out ice cream cones to their followers and tell them “Are you happy now?” Just saying it is all liberals fault is not always the full answer. But like a salesman they don’t want their followers to read the fine print. Well they sell their audience short. Guess what? People like Debbie want to read the fine print and they get upset when they are called out. Rocking the boat falls you out of favor with the group and sometimes the boat has to rocked to keep it on course.

Having a problem with compromised Republicans or conservatives? Go third party, Libertarian, American Independent Party, Constitution Party. Many of these groups just got tired of the inconsistencies of the Republican party and bolted. I vote American Independent Party when I can.

CS: The problem is that many conservatives–especially the ones you named–are frauds and have zero standards or principles. They don’t even believe in a thing they say or claim to stand for. And the same goes for their followers. Truth, facts, honesty, and intelligence are not “high standards.” They should be basics. But so many conservatives are no better and no different than liberals. They simply have none of these and no moral high ground. They will sacrifice everything to get power. A bunch of fools. DS

THANK YOU, DEBBIE

I don’t know anything about Detroit, so I wouldn’t be able to spot his “errors.” Pretty serious ones, too. I appreciate you’re alerting us to his pretentiousness.

yonason on December 24, 2009 at 12:25 am

if Steven would just have gone through the trouble of citing his sources on HIS video, then Lee’s wouldn’t have had to be made. Steven didn’t cite the sources for his War is good video (whatever the name was)either- about Lennon and Nero’s cross,etc..
If he would go thru the trouble to cite his resources himself on HIS videos, then this entire situation could have been avoided.

And the fact that Lee has to come to his defense and go through the trouble that Steven can’t do himself- shows Steven to be weak- isn’t Steven a big boy? can he not defend himself? It all seems very childish But again. if he spent as much time citing his sources as he does the links on where he is featured, this all could have been avoided.

D: Wrong. The nasal, whining Doren is not just annoying, he’s flat-out lying. And he only selects portions of the video which back up his lies saying that Crowder didn’t say the things he actually did say. He DID say there was a bear sighting in Detroit, and he wasn’t joking. That was a lie. But his man-crush Doren claims it was a joke and humor. Uh, no, he repeated that it was true in the video–but Doren conveniently doesn’t show that clip. He also lies and says that Doren doesn’t say the Job Banks are still in existence. But that’s exactly what he says. You have to watch the video and not Doren’s propaganda to see it.

And then Doren proceeds to cite figures and statistics from as far back as 2006 and mostly as recent as 2008 to back up what Crowder claims are the facts today, and they aren’t. If I want four-year-old news (since it’s almost 2010), I’ll try microfiche, not Steven Crowder, and I’ll still get it right. That was the whole point of my piece–that Crowder pulled “facts” out of his ass and made them up or used inaccurate information and didn’t do his homework. And that stands true, even if the guy who has a weird crush on him, Lee Doren, whines and lies to try to get idiotic fools to believe otherwise. Sorry, but if you’re gonna lie like the liberal media does–as now both Crowder and his wannabe boyfriend, Lee Doren, do–you have no right to criticize the liberal media. They lie as much as the New York Times. DS

david on December 26, 2009 at 10:20 pm

I am also amazed that Detroit’s very long period of decline and decay would have been news to Crowder. It is a very sad story that has been unfolding for at least 50 years. Why exagerate or misstate facts when the truth is horrible enough?

Debbie;

I enjoy reading your writing. You are way at the top of the truly intellectual conservative chart of authors that I read regularly.

I love it.

Debbie Schlussel you provide the balance we need in a world of myopic political pundit authors and entertainers that are masquerading as or are compared to journalists and news reporters when they are not.

I am curious as to where your chosen style emanates from. I would like to meet or see you in any public appearances you may partake in. I crave substantial doses of Debbie Schlussel you are becoming an addiction.

Keep up the good work.

hi everyone. ya know what?? maybe its better for us younger people to just stay out. this guy is reckless!

lindapolver on December 24, 2009 at 8:16 am

As far as I’m concerned, this guy Steven Crowder is an anti-Semite. Did you see his column saying “Hollywood Jews” = bad!, “other Jews” = good (http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/scrowder/2009/10/20/lonewolf-diaries-real-jews-vs-hollywood-jews/). Wow, thanks for that simplistic analysis. If he doesn’t like Hollywood liberals, fine, but why feel the need to single out the Jewish ones among them? Why not the Irish-American ones? Especially since Crowder is not Jewish, so he’s got no business writing this kind of garbage anyway. It’s bigotry masquerading as faux conservatism.

Maybe he picks on Jews because of the French-Canadian blood on his mother’s side – you know how anti-Semitic the French-Canadians are (oops! Just resorted to the kind of stereotyping that he does in his column on Jews).

He also writes nonsense like “Having worked my whole life with Jews who seemed content with perpetuating the negative “Liberal Hollywood elite” stereotype”

First of all, the guy doesn’t even turn 23 until well into next year, so he’s not lived much of a “whole life”. Second, Crowder’s work in the entertainment industry has almost entirely (or perhaps even just entirely) been done in Canada, and on Canadian productions (and it’s a scant list of credits at that, for obvious reasons), so which “Hollywood Jews” is he talking about exactly?

I sure hope the guy doesn’t expect to be getting work from these “Hollywood Jews” anytime soon.

Dave on December 24, 2009 at 10:21 am

There is no reason or excuse for conservatives to distort the facts. The truth is so telling in cases like Detroit or almost any other city victimized by Leftist excess which now threatens to “Detroitify” the entire nation. Let the Leftist-dominated (and failing; although soon to be bailed out by the Obama Administation) media continue to lie and distort as much as they want but, enough of the pseudo-journalists like Crowder (Hannity needs to make sure he does his homework too).

Tom in Michigan on December 24, 2009 at 10:43 am

Without getting into all the problems associated with collecting statistics, the more important point is differentiating “advocacy” vs “journalism.” The two shouldn’t be confused.

(Briefly with respect to graduation rates — there is no uniform method for collecting this statistic. The American Federation of Teachers, at their website, go into some detail about how individual states collect such data and interpret it. There is an effort underway to develop a uniform, standardized formula to be used by 39 states. But at the current time such a formula does not exist.) In the meantime, graduation rates are highly controversial.

Many times a study can skew the stats to fit a predetermined outcome — needless to say, that’s unscientific. For example, if someone doesn’t like public schools, but prefers a private voucher system, then the stats which reflect most negatively on public schools will be employed. Legitimate journalists will always give an honest assessment of any study (including the critics of any study). Advocacy reporters don’t bother.

Gutfeld has NEVER brought Crowder out as an expert of anything. You might want to check that fact before you accuse Greg of doing so. In fact, I can’t remember any of Crowder’s videos even being shown on Red Eye – granted, I could be wrong, but I KNOW the Detroit one hasn’t been shown. Just saying….

REF: So, you’re just saying that Greg Gutfeld has a liar on his show who pulls facts out of his ass, but because he’s “not on as an expert of anything,” you approve. Yup, let’s applaud liars on FOX News Awesome. Thanks for clarifying. Oh, and BTW, the video WAS shown on FOX & Friends. DS

Thanks for speaking up on this. The sad truth is people like Andy Levy, Gutfeld, and banal and boring Steven Crowder are not even actually Conservatives. The Red Eye crew is making it more and more known that they mock the actual good people working at their own station, and then support total idiots like Crowder who are more about their own hair than actual activism. Andy Levy is a snobby jerk who can’t admit when he’s wrong.

The problem is in a post-modern world, all things are relative: morality, truth and reality. Its all in the mind of the beholder. All points of view are subjective. In the “Matrix” trilogy, we get a very good view of post-modernism. We like to think its just liberals who buy into it but every one has been affected. In such a world, there is no real right and wrong and every situation stands on its own and the “universals” as we know them from Philosophy 101 in college, doesn’t rule the world. That’s why we have politicians today whose only interest is in power and what they can do to benefit themselves. And the Crowders, Hannitys and Becks of the world aren’t doing a thing to change it because they themselves don’t believe in a world governed by objective truth, moral absolutes and standards that remain constant regardless of what era we live in. One can make a good case conservatism really is dead in our century.

NormanF on December 24, 2009 at 11:33 pm

Crowder people and everyone else, the real problem with Detroit and the rest of the manufacturing ghost towns are Republicans and Democrats sold American workers down the river with NAFTA, GATT, WTO, Most Favored Nation trading status with China. Ross Perot was right, the trade deals went through and along with the bankers, Alan Greenspan, Ben Benarke, Hank Paulson, Will Geithner, Charlie Sumner, Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, repeal of Glass-Steegal and all the other maneuvers that ruined the working people then we wouldn’t be crying over the crumbs.

How is that Globalization working Dems and Republicans? Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama were are all Free Traders and Open Borders!! So was Mondale, Dukakis, Dole, Kerry and McCain. Did we really have a choice?

Realize the Dems really protect the dirtbag poor and the Republicans just protect the dirtbag rich. They both say they are helping the middle class. We pay the bill. The rich hide their money in other nations when they have to and the poor just don’t have money. We in the middle get screwed.

So if Crowder and the rest argue over the peanut shells, let him talk about Free Trade and Globalization? Ask him to do a video on how Republicans voted for all these trade deals.

Having a problem with compromised Republicans or conservatives? Go third party, Libertarian, American Independent Party, Constitution Party. Many of these groups just got tired of the inconsistencies of the Republican party and bolted. I vote American Independent Party when I can.

Crowder did make this somewhat racist video against Jews, Whites and Mexicans. “Let’s build a wailing wall to confuse Mexicans.” Crowder can get his point across without the depictions but I guess that might get in way of “edgy”.

CS: Crowder not only made a racist, bigoted video against Jews and Mexicans, but he also wrote a very anti-Semitic article against Jews on Big Hollywood. I’ve removed your link to his video, b/c we don’t give anti-Semites like him traffic from this site. DS

The scenes are real in Crowder’s video. It’s also a fact that the city boasts Democratic mayors since time began and that it became a welfare city.

I was in Detroit for the Lions/Packers Thanksgiving game and that area Crowder was in is a mere few blocks from the downtown area. If someone dropped you off a mile from the city center at I-94, you’d be where Crowder was situated and where he made that video. And, if you got dropped off near the Rouge area, that’s accurate too.

I can agree to a certain extent that Crowder is a bit of a sensationalist, but the facts are the scenes he shows in his video.

Deb, I know you’re from Southfield and that is a far stone’s throw from the city, just like my home town of Taylor is too, but Detroit – we both know it – is a dying city thanks to the Leftists who run it.

SH: Who cares if the scenes are real? No-one suggested they weren’t. It’s the audio which is completely made up. No-one’s disagreeing that Detroit is a dying city, which is hardly news, and is a few decades old. The point of this post, which is lost on you and so many others, is that Steven Crowder lied and pulled “facts” out of his butt, making them up. There was no bear sighting in Detroit and the rest of his “facts” simply aren’t true. Had he bothered to do research, it might have been a good video. Justifying liars merely because they espouse your view makes you no different from liars on the left. DS

what blows my mind about crowder and lee is the obvious child like behavior. the fact that crowder can’t defend himself is a riot. why did he not make a video defending himself. He is an idiot.

Why would Steven Crowder lie about the facts?

Simple answer.

The real facts weren’t enough to get people to care.

Sad.

Why does anyone pay attention to Steven Crowder of Lee Doren? How do two “youtube celebrities” get on a news channel?

Debbie,

I’m a Democrat and a big fan of yours. Keep up the good work because I’m convinced the truth will set us free.

This article was great. You didn’t have to insult him at all… you just stated facts. He’s still spewing things out of his ass and I’m glad to see someone actually fact check him.

What other lies does Crowder tell, you ask?

Watch any of his videos on Youtube, you’ll see. He’s just a right-wing Jon Stewart who makes up any flack to mock the other side.
The hypocrisy is that Crowder actually faults Stewart for using comedic license to EXCUSE it– when he does the same thing even more.
