Vanessa Redgrave’s Al-Qaeda Activity No Surprise

By Debbie Schlussel
Today’s news that actress Vanessa Redgrave posted thousands of dollars bond for the release of Al-Qaeda terrorist Jamil el-Banna should be no surprise to anyone who’s followed this hag’s career of anti-Semitism and pan-terrorist activity. Ditto for the fact that she exercised an absurd Holocaust analogy.
Recently, Vanessa Redgrave and her sister, actress Lynn Redgrave, read the poems of Islamic terrorists at Guantanamo Bay at a performance. That she’s now paid the bail for two released Gitmo prisoners is no shocker, especially to those who remember her speech about “Zionist Hoodlums” after she won the Oscar at the 1977 Academy Awards ceremony:

A little background info: Throughout the 1970s, Vanessa Redgrave had been a pro-Palestinian activist, praising the P.L.O. and denouncing Israel as fascist and Nazi-like. Many of her comments were anti-Semitic. In 1977, Vanessa Redgrave starred as “Julia” in the movie of the same name, which co-starred Jane Fonda as Communist writer Lillian Hellman, who smuggled funds into Nazi Germany to the resistance movement during the Holocaust. Julia was an anti-fascist activist and Jew who was Lillian’s friend. Redgrave was given the role, despite the just and rightful protests of Holocaust survivors and other Jews all over the world. Now, she’s helping Al-Qaeda. No suprise.
Also no surprise that she used the Holocaust yet again to justify her pan-Islamist activity:

It is a profound honour and I am glad to be alive to be able to do this. Guantanamo Bay is a concentration camp. It is a disgrace that these men have been kept there all these years.

Actually, the real disgrace is Redgrave, herself, and her lifelong career of enabling this kind of vermin. Another disgrace: That she blasphemied the memories of those millions of innocents who really were in concentration camps in Nazi Europe and were murdered there in a slow torturous death. If only the Gitmo terrorists actually were in a concentration camp, which is where they belong.
When you patronize Redgrave’s movies, this–and Al-Qaeda terrorist bail–is what you are subsidizing. Aside from that, her latest flick, “Atonement,” is awful. Skip it. The title of the movie, though, is something she sorely needs to do.

Oookayyyy … who was she talking about in that speech? In one breath she mentioned “Zionist hoodlums” and then said she’d fight against anti-semitism … WTF?
[CS: I ADDED SOME BACKGROUND TO THE POST, WHICH SHOULD HELP YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS GOING ON. SHE WAS A PRO-P.L.O. ACTIVIST THEN AND JEWS PROTESTED HER STARRING ROLE IN THE MOVIE "JULIA," WHICH WAS ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST. DS]

OMG … thanks for posting this clip. She sounds completely stupid. To quote Mickey Spillane: “I know an awful lot of Hollywood people, who are so self-important, I can’t understand it.”
AMEN

Why is it these awards ceremonies are becoming nothing but a platform from which Hollywood airheads can spew anti American, anti Israel filth? If the producers of these shows had half a brain, they’d realize they are killing their own industry with this crap. If even 25% of those viewing (and I’m sure it more than that) find these comments to be offensive enough to stop patronizing movies, they would be out of work. Give the award if you must, but cut off their mics if they say anything beyond “thank you”.

Before I go on, I want you to know that I’m not expressing any opinions here only documented facts. The “Zionist hoodlums” she was referring to were members of the Jewish Defense League (JDL) who allegedly sent death threats to her and to members of the Academy. In the FBI’s terrorism 2000/2001 report, it referred to the JDL as a terrorist group:
http://www.fbi.gov/publications/terror/terror2000_2001.htm
“Figures include terrorist incidents, suspected terrorist incidents, and preventions, (The Jewish Defense League has been deemed a right-wing terrorist group.)”
also this:
“On December 11, 2001, Irving David Rubin and Earl Leslie Krugel were arrested by the Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force for conspiring to build and place improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the King Fahd Mosque in Culver City, California, and the local office of Congressman Darrell Issa. Rubin and Krugel were subsequently charged with conspiracy to destroy a building by means of an explosive, as well as possession of a destructive device during and in relation to a crime of violence. Rubin and Krugel were active members of the Jewish Defense League (JDL), a violent extremist Jewish organization. Statements by Rubin and Krugel indicated that they had planned the attack against the mosque to demonstrate the militancy of the JDL. Krugel further indicated that the attack was planned to provide a ìwake up callî to the Muslim community. It was determined that Rubin and Krugel had already acquired the necessary components to build an IED, including pipes, fuses, and smokeless powder.”
Now some of you might not care that members of the JDL were going to bomb a mosque after 9/11 but they were also trying to bomb the office of congressman Issa which is something to keep in mind.

BTW, I totally disagree with Vanessa Redgrave’s coddling of Muslim terrorists. She’s a fool for doing so.

Debbie, England is an anti-Semitic place, not at all like the U.S. Her views on Israel are more or less mainstream in the UK.
[A1: YES, I KNOW THIS AND HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THAT SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS SITE. NOT ONLY HAVE I MENTIONED THAT THERE ARE 11 TIMES AS MANY MUSLIMS AS JEWS IN GREAT BRITAIN, BUT THE FACT IS THAT MUSLIMS (MOSTLY SAUDIS AND OTHERS FROM THE GULF STATES) OWN MOST OF GREAT BRITAIN, SO THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS GLADLY IN BED WITH THEM. AND I'VE WRITTEN ABOUT THE EXTREME ANTI-SEMITISM THERE. I AGREE--REDGRAVE'S VIEWS ARE THE MAINSTREAM OVER THERE, BUT IT IS MOVIE PATRONS OVER HERE THAT MADE HER A STAR AND HELPED ESTABLISH HER FORTUNES. DS]

    You crazy person!
England is NOT an anti Semitic country. On the contrary it fights for the Jews rights and often takes Israels side.
That there are so many Muslims in the UK is only the result of liberal immigration laws and the expansion of the Muslim world. It is rife in Europe. As in Canada, where sharia laws are in practise.
I’m afraid the fight against world Islamic domination could be too late!

Is it just me, or does Jamil look like he’d make a good Dumbledore in the HP movies?

bouzouki on December 22, 2007 at 2:20 pm

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of Redgrave and her position, Jamil el-Banna is an entirely innocent man. Nothing to do with :l Qa’eda or any other terrorist organization.

No Pasaran! on December 22, 2007 at 4:10 pm

Keep telling yourself that… I’m sure all AQ detainees in the federal detention in Cuba are choir boys who were sent to Guantanamo just for having a Muslim last name.

If anything, the US was within its rights to feed them to the sharks off Cuban waters and the world would have been a safer place.

Its pan-terrorist apologists like you that are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

How dare you talk about my people this way? Who are you to critique European Christians. When you are ready to accept the critique of those people of your ethno/religious tribe, maybe it is time talk, but until then, put a sock into it.

Vaneesa Redgrave is even more anti-semetic than the five Lennon Sisters(who are members of the Ku Klux Klan) that also starred in the movie “Julia” as jewish concentration camp inmates in Nazi Germany!!!!

Christopher W. Clem on May 21, 2013 at 5:37 pm

Hi Debbie,

Just one point, Julia in the film, “Julia,” was not Jewish but a member of whatever could be considered early 20th century American Aristocracy. Jane Fonda’s character as you point out was Lillian Hellman, who apparently did no such thing as donate thousands of dollars to help nazi political prisoners and Jews. This apparently was an apparition of Hellman’s grandiosity.

Good commentary as always
