Sign Apocalypse Might Be Upon Us: NYT’s Maureen Dowd Quotes Me Correctly (Sort of)

By Debbie Schlussel

**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****

Never thought I’d see the day when the ONLY media source that quotes me accurately is . . . The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd?!  Well, that day was yesterday.  And, even though her point is to disagree with me (I guess I’m in the “sewer” in the headline, according to her, but consider the source), I must say that she didn’t use this–unlike the rest of the mainstream media and mainstream conservative hack media–as an opportunity to lie about and misrepresent what I wrote.

The conservative blogger Debbie Schlussel smacked Logan from the right: “Lara Logan was among the chief cheerleaders of this ‘revolution’ by animals. Now she knows what the Islamic revolution is really all about.”

Finally, someone accurate and focusing on my central point. Hey, thanks for getting it right, Maureen, even if your column is meant to deride me and excuse the Muslims who perpetrated the attack.

On second thought, I think a better sign that the apocalypse may be upon us is that I actually have to recognize Dowd for being the only one–left or faux-conservative right–who didn’t lie and say I “celebrated” or “reveled” or “cheered” Lara Logan’s rape. Never said that, despite how much the many nobodies and professionally jealous types looking to scar me (and not succeeding) fantasize that I said it.

What she didn’t get right–along with all the other also-rans in the echo chamber–is that the “forces of darkness” to which Dowd refers and which apparently and supposedly include me (in her warped worldview), don’t in fact include me, but include the Muslims who committed the rape. Newsflash, people:  I didn’t commit the rape, but you’d think I did, judging by the unhinged, homicidal, anti-Semitic reaction I’ve endured as a result. It’s Darth (and Dar) Al-Islam, not Darth Schlussel, but nice try.

In any event, come on over to the “Dark Side,” Luke . . . er Maureen.  You’re no Luke Skywalker.  But, again, I’m no Darth Vader.  More like vice versa.  Still, thanks for at least getting what I said right.  She’s the only person who didn’t lie about what I wrote. But she is just another on the heap of those who, as reader Jon Grant points out, continue to excuse and omit Islam from the Lara Logan rape equation.

You make a great point in that the lefties line up to sling mud at you but seem to want to CONTINUE to wrap their arms around the violent islamic hordes. Just pathetic.

I just read what the semi-literate typed out and called a column.

No where, not once, did she condemn the Muslims who raped Lara Logan. Not once did she accurately report that Logan was attacked because they thought she was a Jew.

No, you are in fact one of the villians of the story. Absolutely incredible. According to the NY Times’ Dowd, Rapist–good. Schlussel–bad.

What a sick and twisted time in which we live.

Jonathan Grant on February 21, 2011 at 5:21 pm

They may not have thought she was a Jew – my bet is they get off on shouting “Jew” just as they’re about to assault someone. It heightens the excitement, and also makes it more ideologically correct.

Cecilie on February 21, 2011 at 6:35 pm

Just the point I made in my first post in today’s Lara Logan thread.

Its a strange world where Maureen Dowd gets its half right but its all ruined by the obligatory kow-towing to Islam.

As long as I live, I’ll never figure what people find so attractive about Islam that it escapes their critical thinking skills. No one does that with Judaism or Christianity.

My theory is there are two reasons why people excuse Islam: they agree with its anti-Western world view (a view the elites have internalized since the 1960s) and they are genuinely afraid of it. A religion that slaughters its critics instead of apologizing for its beliefs, in a perverse manner of speaking, commands their respect.

And if I’m correct, sad to say, whether its Maureen Dowd or most of the people in the West, they are not going to wake the heck up to the truth about Islam in our lifetime. The reaction we’ve all seen on here in the past week has amply confirmed my judgment in this and more.

Religion Of Pieces, not Religion Of Peace, baby!

NormanF on February 21, 2011 at 6:44 pm

She may have quoted DS correctly, but DS did NOT belong in that column. Everyone else was either a Leftist mental defective or anonymous know-nothing on the net.

That Rosen puke just proved what we REALLY know about Libs…that they are indeed NOT kinder and/or gentler. They ain’t fooling us.

It’s very easy to dismiss DS’s notions on the topic as the Left would incorrectly do. I think peeps have to be reminded…

1) DS knows more about Islamic jihad than almost anyone else.

2) She’s Jewish, so she has a dog in this fight.

3) Her REAL name and occupation are known.

4) Islamic jihad is as serious to her as a heart attack.

5) Even though she is dismissed in the most serious of so-called Conservative circles, that does NOT take away from the fact that she has the FACTS on her side. Dismiss her at your own peril.

6) She knows how serious a problem Islamic jihad is and doesn’t have time (at this time) to play cute and/or PC with this serious topic.

We have a lot of catching up to do. At this time, sadly, people are way far behind.

S: “The most serious of so-called conservative circles” are mostly not conservative, not smart, not informed, and completely jealous that I have the readership, influence, and attention they don’t, despite not being on FOX News, etc., like they are. Believe me, when they “dismiss” me, they are acknowledging they read me and hate that they can’t control me. DS

I could not care less about you being labeled a Conservative. The John Birchers thought they were conservative. I also rather have Orianna Fallaci (a liberal anti-fascist) views on Islam than anybody on Townhall, Fox News, Human Event, National Review, Front Page etc. etc.

There are people like Churchill who see great evil and thos that do not. Debbie you see the evil of Islam. By the way Churchill wrote about Islam.

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

I wish CBS would at least show us the women rescuers. After all, they are real hereos of this story. Were they wearing burkas? Is that why they were not also gang raped?
So much of what the media tells us or refuses to tell us about Islam is a lie.

Bill on February 21, 2011 at 7:14 pm

    probably not even true…

    howardroark43 on February 21, 2011 at 7:16 pm

Where did my last comment go? You guys are being far too political with this. Isn’t this about a sexual assault? She is a reporter who tried to do her job before getting raped by thugs. It is that simple. Leave Islam out of this. Stop blaming the victim. Rape is rape and wrong is wrong.

cathy marlin on February 21, 2011 at 7:32 pm

Cathy Marlin, what do you mean by “leave the islam out of this”, question, who committed this crime against Ms. Logan, it was muslim fanatics who committed this crime against Lara Logan, NOT christians, jews, hindus, buddhist, agnostics, atheist, etc. Where NOT going through this crap all over again, by you dumbass leftist coming over here, blaming Debbie for what happend to Logan a week ago! And I do hope that Logan has a quick recovery and she’ll do her daily job again. And where not blaming Logan for being raped, only a moron would say something like that.

“A nation is defined by it’s borders, language & culture!”

    Sean R. on February 21, 2011 at 7:49 pm

Cathy, you are none too bright are you? No, this is not about rape. This is about the coverup of atrocities of the Islamic world, in order to make Islam look like a sweet wonderful religion.

This was an attack because they thought that Lara Logan was Jewish. And it was not the only sexual attack in the crowd.

This was about the coverup of the attack, so the Muslims would not look bad.

This was about covering up the reason d’etre for the attack…that the crowd thought she was a Jew.

This is about the networks and the news media covering up attacks and violence by Islam, and always painting Muslims as victims of attacks.

This is about the brainwashing of the public.

Where is your liberalism, your feminism, when women are stoned to death in Islamic countries when they report a rape?

Where is your outrage when women killed in Islamic honor killings in America?

Where is your outrage when women are not allowed to appear in public in most of Pakistan?

Where is your outrage when acid is thrown in the face of girls in Afghanistan, for the crime of trying to get an education?

No, you save your outrage for Debbie, who is reporting on the coverup, on the crimes committed by the religion of peace. What do you think these people will do if they ever defeat Israel?

Your phony liberalism will be the undoing of Western Society, you stupid twit.

Jonathan Grant on February 21, 2011 at 8:07 pm

Hilarious – I always thought to the Left the personal is the political.

But there’s the Islam Exception. There always has to be one. And of course Muslims are never ever to blame because such modest and virtuous folks could never commit sexual assault or rape.

Dream on. Keep telling yourself that what happened to Lara Logan is all Debbie Schlussel’s fault. Its called being in denial.

NormanF on February 21, 2011 at 10:12 pm

Norman F you are a complete idiot. I don’t think Logan is in a condition to talk right now. Don’t explain away evil? You, yourself are evil.

Stan Z. on February 21, 2011 at 7:38 pm

    Too downright funny! I’m evil?

And we all know Lara Logan will never tell the real truth about what happened.

No one on the Left wants to hear about it anyway so all you can do is change the subject.

Sorry, its still the Islam, stupid!

NormanF on February 21, 2011 at 10:15 pm

Z-dumbo-Stan, are you living in your mom’s basement without a job, about 20 e-mail adresses and all the time in the world, posing as concerned american citizens? I’m sure you are. Please do us a favor and at least TRY to come up with something original once in a while, instead of the same old lefty talking points. It really gets old fast…yawn…

Sean R. on February 21, 2011 at 7:52 pm

Wow, I just thought schlussel’s words were just a little callous.

Here are some more callous words. Its been said that a conservative is a liberal that has been mugged by life. What happened to Logan seems to be in the same vain.

sg on February 21, 2011 at 8:40 pm

We are fighting very bad people. Egypt will NOT end well, nor will Tunisia, Libya, etc.

Occam's Tool on February 21, 2011 at 8:43 pm

More & more you can see how extreme liberalism can kill you. These “J” school grads should be ashamed of themselves. Theyre failing at their jobs.

esther on February 21, 2011 at 9:35 pm

It seems to me that Cathy Marlin is an Islamic man posing as a woman and deviously mixing it up….

esther on February 21, 2011 at 9:46 pm

I think it would be very good if Ms Dowd paid an extended visit to Cairo.

joesixpack31 on February 22, 2011 at 12:31 am

You know, what saddens me is that Lara Logan will never see any justice.
Worse yet, she won’t seek it.

She could probably sue CBS if she wanted to, but this will just glide off the radar screen and no one will even notice.

theShadow on February 22, 2011 at 1:34 am

@NormanF – “And Logan herself is wilfully collaborating with that lie”

In all fairness, Norman, she’s still recovering from an horrific attack and rape. I don’t know how long it would take me to recover from such a nightmare, but I’m pretty certain I wouldn’t be up to speaking to ANYONE after such a short period of time, if ever.

Alison on February 22, 2011 at 11:54 am

Crickets fom AL Jazeera on Lara Logan’s brutal beating and rapes by the celebrating gang. Amazing that so many media journalists and regular libs were singing the praises of Al Jazeera’s coverage of the protests in Egypt. Crickets from all of them as well about AL Jazeera’s total non coverage of the gang attack on Logan.

NancyB on February 23, 2011 at 4:15 am

And you studied English where?

Duck on February 21, 2011 at 6:28 pm

The only “good” muslim is a bad muslim….that is, one that does not understand his own ideology.

Duck on February 21, 2011 at 6:31 pm

This is exactly my point.

When people start explaining away evil, we’re in big trouble. People can’t wrap their heads in the West around the fact Muslims DO take jihad seriously.

9/11 was an Islamic Inside Job and the Truther conspiracy in part was invented to deflect attention from the defining role of Islam in the 9/11 mass murder. Hilarious!

Keep telling yourself that Islam is as pure as driven snow and people who reveal what it does have an axe to grind – unless the only way you’ll ever be convinced of it is when a Muslim savage makes your own head roll to the floor and by then it’ll already be too late.

That’s where we’re headed now and folks like you live every day in denial about it.

NormanF on February 21, 2011 at 7:02 pm

nice try, beezlebub… but we all know that muslims are continuously raging all around the world. and we all know that there is no parallel to any other group of human beings. and we all know that muslim “politics” — as well as their book straight from the depths of hell (aka- the koran) — are both easily understood by the daily, relentless, evil deeds muslims have woven into their very personas.

we all know… even you know.

howardroark43 on February 21, 2011 at 7:14 pm

Lara Logan should be ashamed of herself. For not coming forward and telling the truth about her attack. Isn’t the truth supposed to be empowering? I used to think that’s what young women where taught in college in my generation. But no one is interested in even hearing the truth about the identity of Logan’s attackers. And when her employer whitewashes them and she doesn’t correct CBS for the record, that makes her an accomplice in her own crime, not an innocent victim. We don’t see that when the rapist is a white male Christian, people correctly blame him and hold him responsible for the crime. In this case people do their best not to see the obvious and to pass judgment on the criminals. Next thing you know, all the non-judgmental types rush to defend Logan’s honor from coming to grips with the assault upon her by whitewashing it out of existence.

Now that’s a sad excuse for what they call chivalry these days!

NormanF on February 21, 2011 at 6:55 pm

Where did Debbie say that or where did I say that? We’re supposed to tell the truth about rape/sexual assault but here people want to lie about it. And Logan herself is willfully collaborating with that lie. That isn’t doing her, other victims of rape and sexual assault and our society any favors. You have amply demonstrated how far that lie has been spread and it will travel all the way around the world before the truth catches up with it.

Cuz we can’t name you know who about her attackers. If the perps are from the Religion Of Peace, hey, they’re really peaceful, right? I’m not holding my breath waiting for you to acknowledge who Logan’s assailants are. Nice try, but no cigar.

NormanF on February 21, 2011 at 7:12 pm
