16% of Detroit Murder Victims Are Visitors to City – Say Nice Things About Detroit

By Debbie Schlussel

If you’re planning to visit the City of Detroit, keep this in mind: almost 16% of those murdered in D-Mecca are visitors from out of town. Makes ya wanna visit, huh? On the other hand, some in the know claim that the 66 homicides of out-of-towners in the city are people who visit to procure prostitutes and illegal drugs (though this is the standard attack by nativist Detroiters on the evil “suburbs” a/k/a White people). In that case, I don’t feel too bad for them. On the other hand, others are innocent, like the ten visitors to Detroit for the Super Bowl who were killed with 10,000 members of local, state, and federal law enforcement on the streets at the time and whose murders were never solved.

Data from the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office shows that 16 percent of homicides in Detroit in 2012 were out-of-towners.

Statistics released last week indicate of the 413 homicide victims in Detroit in 2012, 66 lived outside of the city. . . . “A lot of suburbanites come into Detroit to get narcotics and pick up prostitutes, and they end up in trouble,” retired Detroit Police Officer David Malhalab said.

“They’d get robbed, and when I’d ask them what they were doing in the neighborhood, they’d tell me they were looking for someone — but they couldn’t tell me a name or address. You knew what they were doing.”

Detroit had one of the nation’s highest murder rates in 2012, with 53 per 100,000 residents.

I dunno, Debbie. I’ve driven in Detroit–and not for drugs or hookers. It is so easy to get lost because the roads are always being diverted, with ramps being closed suddenly. While this was 10 or so years back, and GPS has made things a bit easier, even GPS at the time wasn’t sufficient.

Chicago has areas as awful as any in Detroit, but it’s easy to avoid them.

It is foolish to get near Detroit.

Detroit a microcism of america’s major cities…its not safe at night in chicago south side..harlem ny…east L.A. …dallas..miami ..memphis…etc…thanx

Oh thanks for your opinion, Samir. Still waiting for that Talmud excerpt, though. Praise allah and mo!

skzion on January 14, 2013 at 8:14 pm

No, Debbie knows the score – as she pointed out, most “visitors” are white suburbanites scoring drugs or tail. When i was in Detroit in the ’80s there was a gang of black, transvestite hookers who called themselves “the wrecking crew” and their specialty was rolling wealthy, white, suburban Johns.

DS_ROCKS! on January 14, 2013 at 7:00 pm

I’ve been to Detroit – not the bad parts of town but the casino and the downtown business district not far from Canada. The city skyline looks lovely from Riverside Dr. in Windsor, Ontario.

No – you couldn’t pay me to live there! No sane person would elect to live in Detroit unless they had a death wish. There are no nice things to be said for Detroit today, period.

Knoxville.TN, Tuscaloosa,AL,or College Station,TX (Johnny Manziel Country) all sound good to me.

You can have all of Detroit Debbie. Below the Mason Dixon Line is G-ds Country.

Confederate South on January 14, 2013 at 7:35 pm

My wife spent 4 years at the Capstone, CS. Concur with you. Good restaurants, too! College Station is boring, though. Knoxville is OK if you VOLUNTEER for it.

Personally, Debbie might like Birmingham, which has a decent Jewish community, or Nashville, which is a lovely city.

Occam's Tool on January 14, 2013 at 8:47 pm

OT, I visited Nashville a few years back and fully concur.

Indeed, the competition among musicians is so fierce that evenings are wonderfully spent at honkytonks. I didn’t think I liked country music. But at that stratospheric level of performance, style of music becomes irrelevant.

Eloh[im] god in hebrew…Allaha god in aramaic [jesus language]…Allah god in arabic….all 3 abrahamic religions have similiar word for God….but only one has a preserved scripture in the original language [koran]…and a holy house of worship built by a prophet [kabah in mecca built by abraham]….thanx

No thanks Sam. Peddle your tiki god elsewhere.

Looks like Samir has finally come out as a Muslim. I haven’t been so surprised since Jodie Foster.

The language of Torah is Hebrew, Samir. Allah was the Mo family’s household god. (Tiki indeed.) Your lies are pitiful.

The ka’aba is a sanctuary for a bleeping meteorite.

Norman F. mentioned casinos, the big industry of Detroit nowadays. Do the Detroit police attribute any of the out-of-town murders to casino-related events? You would think so.

And the math leaves some questions unanswered after the police explanation. Supposedly, out-of-towners coming to big cities for sex or drugs is not that different from city to city. Wouldn’t this happen in other metropolitan areas? Does the population of Detroit’s suburbs go into Detroit for drugs and sex on a higher per-capita basis than they do in other areas?

That would surprise me very much. While I am sure there are some deaths from that cause, it would not explain the much higher per-capita death of out-of-towners (not disclosed here, but I’m sure it exists) in Detroit as compared to other areas.

No, it is just more of a hellhole. And Detroit has always been one of the biggest centers of anti-White feeling.

Little Al on January 14, 2013 at 10:14 pm

The business district is safe during the day. And the road that passes along the river is quite safe. No one would go out at night or into the abandoned parts of town.

If you want to have a good time at night, go to Windsor. Its quite safe there.

NormanF on January 14, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Norman, it is extremely easy to get lost, not only because of the normal traffic flow but because of the regular traffic diversions. In another life I used to go to the Detroit Opera. There were police all over the place, directing traffic, etc, to make sure nothing bad happened.

      The problem is Detroit.

It would be nice for a modern Charles Bronson (Death Wish) to visit Detroit and clean things up.

Fred on January 14, 2013 at 11:23 pm

Detroit is the years ahead of it’s time. It is the logical conclusion of welfare statism and nihilist culture feeding on itself like a cancer. It is a product of “tax the rich a little more”. The productive and the best of the best have long ago fled the place in favour of better locations to raise their families and grow their businesses. This is the future of more cities under Obama and his policies.

Detroit should serve as fair warning of what happens when reality is evaded.

Canadian Steve on January 15, 2013 at 12:12 am

If you live in Michigan, Detroit is OUR CITY. It’s not “those people”, or “that place”. If we hold human life sacred, it doesn’t matter whether 16% of homicides are people who are visiting. Each murder is an outrage and a tragedy.

It’s easier to define the problem than to find a solution. However, I think Debbie has implied a starting-point solution: Solve the murders of those 10 people who were murdered during the Super Bowl. Prosecute their murderers.

That sounds to me like a reasonable starting point. If law enforcement were to nab those ten murderers, I think it would make headlines; maybe even give law enforcement officials some encouragement and momentum.

10 murders during the Super Bowl that were never solved! Hundreds of murders last year! Not one voice of outrage in the comments on this blog!

I get it, folks! Thank you for your comments.

    TINSC: huh?

skzion on January 15, 2013 at 9:16 am

What’s the point of expressing outrage? Detroit is a city of takers that is experiencing what one would expect.

skzion on January 15, 2013 at 9:21 am

No, I think a good starting point in dealing with the problems of cities like Detroit is the realization that everyone of the liberal feel good policies has been a total failure. You name the particular policy and you won’t find one that has succeeded. As Michael Savage has said, Liberalism is a mental disorder and what it results in is cities like Detroit.

    Jerry G on January 15, 2013 at 10:14 am

You mis-understand me. I am beyond outraged and heartbroken over what has happened in Detroit.

Canadian Steve on January 15, 2013 at 4:38 am

60% of Detroiter kids never graduate High School (which is free). Most don’t know their fathers. How do you think they’re gonna afford their designer shades? They gotta rob and kill.

Truth on January 15, 2013 at 7:27 am

It’s easy to get murdered in a strange city. You don’t know what neighborhoods to avoid.

Miranda Rose Smith on January 15, 2013 at 8:56 am

Really? The city I am from has the exact same population as Detroit. There were under 35 homicides in 2012.

Canadian Steve on January 15, 2013 at 9:02 am

The shocking part of this story is that anybody would visit Detroit for any reason.
I suppose it would be interesting to drive through, kind of like going to a freak show, but I wouldn’t stop and get out of my car.

It could certainly be an excellent place for an educational tour.
Take busloads of kids from around the country there to show them what liberal policies do to people and cities.
But absolutely don’t stop the bus and let the kids get out and walk around!

I’ve been the bad guy around my wifes friends for not joining the crowd for a night out in detroit. They are seriously out of touch, I keep saying. It’s a damn shame that so many idiots put themselves in harms way needlessly.
On the bright side, they have a nice sculpted black fist in the middle of the street for all the nice detroiters to be proud of.

samurai on January 15, 2013 at 9:32 am

I wish that some philanthropist would set up a foundation that would assist any law-abiding gainfully employed person who wishes to leave Detroit for, say, Vermont, Kansas or South Dakota would do so. Ken Hamblin – if any of you remember that longtime talk radio personality – has long advocated voluntary relocation from dysfunctional areas like this.

Gerald on January 15, 2013 at 1:26 pm

Why doesn’t someone here mention the primary reason for why Detroit has become a no-man’s land? I see a litany of standard explanations; i.e., “family breakdown,” “liberalism” and “youths.” Let me spell out the real cause: b-l-a-c-k-s. Detroit is 80 percent black.

As a counterproint, take Seattle. It’s been run by liberals for decades. In fact, it’s as liberal as any city in America. I’ve been there a number of times. Yet in most areas it has very little crime. You suppose race might have something to do with that?

Seek on January 15, 2013 at 2:12 pm

What you say is not entirely unfair. Nevertheless, there are some majority black cities in America that are not close to Detroit’s level of crime and dysfunction.

Gerald on January 15, 2013 at 2:20 pm

      Name two.

and what’s the deal with that stupid “detroit hustles harder” slogan? the wife and i made our every-three-years-or-so trip home to the detroit area this christmas and one of my neices was handing out (?!) these stickers with that slogan.

i told her if it were true, detroit wouldn’t be one of the biggest disasters in the nation. detroit doesn’t hustle at all anymore… it can’t… it’s paralyzed by decades of leftism and populated by welfare residents who have generations dependant on public money being sent to them so all they have to do is hustle to their mail box.

kirche on January 15, 2013 at 3:55 pm

out of towners have more money than residents hence the percentage murdererd. Any questions?

Bill Ford on January 15, 2013 at 4:26 pm

name o0ne jerry.i live in a state that has about 6% of the population is black and they commit 64% of the murders.black people hate white people because that is what they hear from what passes for a parent and from the half assed schools they destroy.so if you have to go to a city always carry a gun if you like living because every city or state with unconstitutional gun control has a sky high crime and murder rate.when ever you see more gun control passed by commiecrats like that pussy como you will see a rise in crime but they don’t care about crime because all they want is you defenseless.como, the girly man, just passed an assault weapon ban for ny when the ass wouldn’t know a real assault rifle from a bung hole.don’t you just love it when these slimy commiecrats dance in the blood of murdered children for their commie agenda.they need to have their hands cut off

Deb: how the heck do we get the T-shirt?

Occam's Tool on January 18, 2013 at 10:28 pm

Lots of white racist commenting on this. I’m from the city and I’m always in the city nobody will bother you unless your somewhere doing something you shouldn’t be doing generally. In all my years I’ve never saw a random white person shot and killed ever. I’m from a bad neighborhood in detroit mind you. Never in my life.

I have however witnessed first hand with my own two eyes white residence of neighboring suburbs come on joy rd to buy drugs and frequent southwest detroit in the fort St. And w outer drive area to buy drugs and pick up hookers.

I don’t dispute that stat at all because I know what going on and I’m not a pussy ass finger pointing Canadian or some scary ass old fart hermit hiding in the house when my wives friends go to Detroit.

Nobodys out to harm you or rape your precious white woman that you can’t please sexually.

Btw in detroit its one thing you should never be scared about and that’s a line gunman shooting innocent children or shooting up a mall.
