Joan Rivers is caught up in controversy for joking about something I pointed out a couple of years ago: that former kidnap victims are a fame-seeking “brand” you can’t touch . . . even though many of them are trying harder to become Kardashians than even the Kardashians.

I’ve covered the topic of kidnap victims constantly seeking the spotlight, even selling merchandise, and so on. I wrote about it in “Kidnapped Like a Kardashian,” and I was attacked left and right by defenders of these former kidnappees who sell their wedding photos to People, appear in fashion spreads, and try to create a brand. I was kidnapped and raped, now buy my stuff! It’s sad. And it’s sick. As I pointed out, it’s not like Jaycee Dugard or Elizabeth Smart are hurting for money. Both are now worth several million dollars (nearly $30 million in Dugard’s case). Yet, they write and sell books, products, and photos. (And Smart is ABC News’ “kidnapping consultant,” as if she’s some sort of law enforcement expert who will help you avoid your kid being kidnapped.) Enough, already.

Rivers was dumped by Norwegian Cruise Lines because she joked that, living with her daughter Melissa Rivers, she has less room than even the victims of Cleveland kidnapping victims of Ariel Castro (who were also raped). Tasteless, yes. Funny, not really. But it’s typical Joan Rivers stuff. And in our PC world, even she can’t say any of that anymore. Or so she’s being told. Rivers isn’t apologizing and, this morning on ABC’s yenta hag-fest, “The View,” she attacked Norwegian Cruise Lines and Norwegians in general, saying she won’t back down. But Rivers is a hypocrite because she backed down from calling Michelle Obama, “Blackie O” (a joke she plagiarized from this site), and said she would stop using it because it offended people. Yes, Rivers isn’t the anti-PC warrior she would have us believe. Still, America needs to get its sense of humor back and stop being so sensitive.

And, regardless of that, I’m tired of seeing these women who endured the horrors of Ariel Castro’s captivity. Aren’t you?

Yes, it is tragic, but they survived, and they got oodles of money in a settlement with the City of Cleveland, even though there is no evidence that the Cleveland Police Department “should have discovered” them–the whine that the kidnap victim industry’s lawyers constantly wail. It’s time to move on, retreat to private life, and live that life (out of the public eye). I don’t need to hear the details about this now-dead dirtbag captor of yours and how he raped you. I kinda get the picture. But Michelle Knight wrote a whole book about it, thinking the world needs to know every detail (it doesn’t) and–cha-ching!–cashing her big, fat advance check. In the wake of this week’s NBA proposed lifetime ban and $2.5 million fine for Donald Sterling, a longtime reader reminded me that I’d written about another NBA owner, a Black man, who held a party in which Whites were refused entry and turned away. And, yet, the NBA did nothing.

As I’ve already pointed out, Black racism and bigotry against Whites, Jews, Mormons, and gays is tolerated by the NBA. But a private racist conversation by a White owner is not. And here is an instance of a Black then-NBA owner whose public, deliberate racism was tolerated and ignored. Jay-Z a/k/a Shawn Carter was an owner of the Brooklyn Nets, an NBA Team, from 2003 through mid-April 2013. But, as I noted on this site, in February 2010, Jay-Z held a lavish party at the Merah club in central London, and banned White people from attending. The party, for music industry executives, reporters, and other Jay-Z ass-kissers was for Blacks only. Bouncers were instructed to refuse entry to Whites.

Wasn’t Jay-Z part owner of Brooklyn/New Jersey Nets when he threw that racist party you wrote about? I don’t remember any NBA controversy over that.

I liked “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” in movie theaters today, more than any other superhero film I’ve seen in the last five to ten years. That’s because the other superhero movies of late were so bad, so unmagical, so uninteresting. This one returns to the classic superhero movie formula I remember as a kid.

I’m not normally a fan of Spiderman (my favorite superheroes are Superman, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman) or of Andrew Garfield, whom I think of as kinda nerdy. But ASM2 recaptures the magic, the classic, stark good versus evil plot, and it is engrossing and suspenseful from beginning to end of its overlong 2.5 hours. But even with the length of the film, every moment of it was suspenseful, exciting, and entertaining. I wasn’t bored for a second. The plot is simple and easy to understand, unlike many of the confusing jumbles and crazy plots in many recent superhero movies. Plus Garfield is very good in this as a self-deprecating, funny, morally upright Peter Parker/Spiderman. Read the rest of this entry »

Time for another episode of “Your Day in Islam in America.” As I keep saying, there is NO difference between Muslims in America and those anywhere else around the world, despite what those in denial tell you. They are not moderate and they are not progressive, just progressively extremist. This isn’t the first Muslim in America who says Islam gives him the right to murder his wife. And it won’t be the last. But, hey, I’ll bet the NBA wouldn’t kick him out of the league for it.

Let’s hear it for the diversity that Islam brings to America!

Police say a valley man threatened to kill his wife, telling his victim “Islamic Law” gave him the right to kill her. Ansar Muhammad, 43, is facing several charges, including assault and imprisonment. According to the police report, on April 26, Muhammad sexually assaulted the victim, held her against her will while threatening to kill her, punched and strangulated her, causing physical injuries at their home near 112th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard. We’ve already seen the parade of Black racists and bigots (Al Sharpton, Sheila Jackson Lee, etc.) call for Donald Sterling’s public beheading. And, now, the latest one–and one of the most egregious–is having his turn.

At today’s press conference given by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, calling for the ban, fining, and effective ouster of LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, there was an interesting attendee. Spike Lee, notorious for his anti-White and anti-Semitic comments and movies and his fan-worship of racist Louis Farrakhan, was sitting in the audience, right in the front row, where he was welcomed and embraced by the NBA brass and the media.

But Spike Lee ought to look in the mirror when it comes to racism. From my 2002 column, “Racist Spike Lee: Kmart’s Bankrupt Messenger“:

Lee’s race-hustling films are vile, portraying Whites and Jews in the worst light possible and showing them as human embodiments of the most outrageous stereotypes. There is his 1989 “breakthrough” flick, “Do the Right Thing,” in which–predictably–Whites, especially Italians, are evil, unsympathetic characters, while Blacks are the downtrodden, oppressed victims. There are last year’s “Bamboozled” and 1990?s “Mo’ Better Blues” in which Jews are evil, unsympathetic, racist stereotypes. Ditto for 1996?s “Get on the Bus,” which celebrates Lee’s hero, racist loon Louis Farrakhan and his Million–or is that 300,000–Man March. A Jewish busdriver, who refuses to continue to drive because of Farrakhan’s blatant anti-Semitism, is the movie’s villain for doing so. Racist NBA owner Donald Sterling was a Democrat donor and is a self-hating, anti-Israel Jew who was set to be honored by the hypocritical NAACP. And he should be condemned (although at 81, he’s probably afflicted by Alzheimer’s Disease). That said, whenever there are Black racists and anti-Semites in the NBA, their comments go largely unnoticed, and there is zero outrage. Also largely unnoticed were Sterling’s ample, disgusting anti-Israel comments on his racist phone call with the chica, in which he justified his racism against Blacks with false accusations of racism against Blacks in Israel.

On Saturday, TMZ leaked a recording of a private phone conversation with one of his extramarital girlfriends, V. Stiviano, a 20-something model, who is currently being sued by Sterling and his wife. Stiviano is half-Black and half-Mexican, and Sterling objected to her posting on Instagram of a photo with Magic Johnson, who, as we all know, is Black. Sterling made many comments, often contradictory, nonsensical, and ridiculous, against Blacks on the tape and ordered the girlfriend to remove the picture and not openly associate with Black people or bring them to his games. The media is all upset and the race merchants are calling for his ouster.

But here’s what you don’t know about Sterling. His real name is Donald Tokowitz, but he changed his surname to Sterling because it sounds less Jewish and “more polished.” He and his Jewish wife, Rochelle “Shelly” Stein–who is regularly shamed by the public display of girlfriends and doesn’t have the self-dignity to leave her poisonous marriage of wealth–named their oldest living son, “Chris.” That’s typical of Jews who want to run away from the religion as fast as possible. Sorry for posting the rest of my movie reviews late, but because of circumstances I didn’t have time to finish them before the Jewish Sabbath began, Friday. One movie I really liked opening today at theaters. The rest? Eh.

* “The Other Woman“: Read my full review column on this piece of garbage. A dopey, stupid, rehash of “The First Wives Club,” this one advocates the violent poison of men. Disgusting and and incredible waste of time. Again, read my complete review.

* “Walking With the Enemy“: A moving, touching, fabulous movie regarding an incredible true life hero, Pinchas Rosenbaum, who saved over 1,000 of his fellow Hungarian Jews during the Holocaust by posing as a Nazi SS officer (he had Aryan looks) and infiltrating Nazis and their “Arrow Cross” sympathizers in Hungary. The ending of this film put tears in my eyes. Also, I learned about another saint like Raoul Wallenberg–Carl Lutz, a Swiss diplomat, who printed thousands of diplomatic passes making Hungarian Jews Swiss citizens in order to save their lives. What if a Hollywood studio put out a film in which three men, all of them cheated on by the same woman, violently poisoned her in ways that could get them sent to prison for decades? Would the media applaud?

Nope. Hollywood would be besieged by angry feminists marching against this “Violence Against Women.” Here, the marching should be done on the front lawn of Rupert Murdoch’s 20th Century Fox, which made this male-bashing garbage.

But “The Other Woman,” with the roles reversed, has all of the mainstream media applauding, cheering, and yukking it up with Kate Upton, Cameron Diaz, and Leslie Mann of “The Other Woman,” a long, boring, unfunny anti-male revenge fantasy (and comedy that just isn’t funny). Yesterday, I told you that the teen stowaway in the wheelwell of the plane to Hawaii is a devout Muslim alien from Somalia. And the Voice of America has identified him and his father, confirming this yet again, with the father saying allah protected his son. If Barack Obama had a son . . . .

The father of a teen stowaway who survived a five-and-a-half hour flight to Hawaii this week hidden in a jetliner’s wheel well said allah saved him from the dangers and extreme temperatures. “When I watched the analysis about the extraordinary and dangerous trip of my son on local TVs and that allah had saved him, I thanked God and I was very happy,” Abdilahi Yusuf Abdi, who lives in Santa Clara, California, told VOA’s Somali service in an exclusive interview on Wednesday.
