Moron: Obama’s Immigration Chief Orders Agents to Leave Illegal Aliens Alone During Census

By Debbie Schlussel

More non-Cens(us) over at our nation’s federal immigration enforcement agency.

Moron: Obama Immigration Chief John Morton Says

Be Nice to Illegal Aliens During Census

As if morale at Barack Obama’s and Janet Napolitano’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) wasn’t bad enough, it just got worse.  Agents are already frustrated that worksite enforcement raids against illegal aliens and their employers are mostly non-existent and that they are repeatedly nixed and canceled because of fears of bad press and whining from illegal alien groups, like that after a Washington State raid, early last year.  The agents tell me that they need to fill out about seven cumbersome forms and get ICE headquarters approval before they arrest an illegal alien.

When we last saw Obama’s ICE chief John Morton–whom ICE agents appropriately refer to as John Moron–he was yukking it up with open Jew-hater Zahi Hawass and an Egyptian sarcophagus.  Now he’s ordering ICE agents to stay away from illegal aliens while they fill out their Census forms.  It’s like a bad SNL skit, except that it’s true.

Recently, ICE agents were sent the memo, below, from Moron, and they are rightfully angry, and not just because it’s enforcement double-speak.  He pretends to be telling them they should continue to enforce immigration laws.  But he’s actually telling them–just as illegal alien groups and open borders advocates urged–not to enforce it and to go soft, while we count these alien invaders and lawbreakers, so they can get more tax-funded entitlements. I’ve been told that this is what the ICE Policy Guidelines referenced therein tell them to do.

A Message from Assistant Secretary Morton Announcing New Policy Guidelines

To all ICE Employees
March 3, 2010

Policy Guidelines for ICE Operations During Census 2010

This year, the U.S. Census Bureau will conduct the decennial census. ICE supports the Census Bureau’s efforts and recognizes the importance of collecting accurate and comprehensive data for the census, including from people residing in the United States without lawful immigration status. While ICE will continue to enforce the immigration laws during the census period, the policy guidelines provide steps that should be taken to avoid adverse effects on census participation.

ICE employees are reminded that census data is confidential and may not be used for immigration enforcement purposes. Employees are expected to refer to the policy guidelines and related materials from the Census Bureau, available on the ICE Policy website, or at:

John Morton
Assistant Secretary
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

(Emphasis added.)

Hmmm . . . maybe they should change his agency’s name to Immigration in Non-Census Times and Customs Enforcement.

Let’s hear it for “Homeland Security.”

And when buddies of mine in both ICE and USBP refer to themselves as “law enforcement” I have to chuckle. More like armed, costumed public relations.

not illegal here… no sir. only in Jerusalem are they illegal

Noah David Simon on March 18, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Isn’t the whole purpose of the census to determine representation and for the purpose of taxing the states as per article 1 section 2 of the constitution? If so this policy is “anti” constitutional since the 16th amendment wiped out the tax justification of the census and illegals shouldn’t have anything to do with representation.

I_AM_ME on March 18, 2010 at 3:01 pm

I believe the purpose of the memorandum is to advise agents that Census information is confidential and protected by privacy laws enacted by Congress, and can not be used as a law enforcement tool. Obviously…and having been “teamed up” with legacy INS agents since the merger I believe this is probably what happened…someone used this data to establish the evidence to arrest an individual on immigration charges. While this might sound like a great investigative method, it is a violation of federal law, and we as agents are sworn to uphold the law not violate it.

“Julie L. Myers (born 1969) was the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Immigration and Customs Enforcement…. Previously, Myers worked for the Office of Independent Counsel under Kenneth Starr and was a lead prosecutor in the Independent Counsel’s failed case against Susan McDougal.”

Whatever happened to the last holder of this job?

The US Government lies to us all the time. They used the US census, to locate and place into detention Japanese-Americans and report on Italians, Germans during the Second World War. This time workers are hired to collect GPS readings for every house in this nation, giving pinpoint precision that will certainly simplify the process of locating any individual or group that could be identified as a threat to “national security” in our future. A 1976 Senate Report indicated that 26,000 Americans were slated for internment by the FBI in the event of a national emergency at the height of the Cold War. Today the Census could possibly be used to check on the whereabouts of Muslims and Middle Easterners? The U.S. Government’s Terrorist Watch-list has exceeded one million, the GPS data acquired could be instrumental in organizing such a accomplishment. It could be that this 2010 Decennial Census that in reality, to seek out illegal aliens occupying American soil and deport them home?

Brittanicus on March 18, 2010 at 4:18 pm

[Brittanicus – Today the Census could possibly be used to check on the whereabouts of Muslims and Middle Easterners?]

And your problem with that is …???!!!

    I_AM_ME on March 18, 2010 at 4:21 pm

What a great idea! So it’s a little bit illegal? The files got sent to the wring dept… whoops! my bad. Use the information. It is also illegal to not deport criminals, yes, they are HERE illegally making them criminals, according to existing laws. Wake up, people!

Michael Roy on March 22, 2010 at 7:57 am

Leaving these illegals alone and collecting data might not be such a bad thing. After most of them are identified, do massive sweeps and throw them out of our country. (Yeah, I know that there are no federal agencies that would do this)

Jarhead on March 18, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Well, it looks like Obama and his cronies are successfully instituting a multi-pronged strategy of making illegal aliens fully entitled residents of the US. Of course they are counted in the census; one outcome is that with more people counted there will be higher social expenditures. Coupled with the health care (sic) bill, which of course also includes illegal aliens, these illegals will become part of society, and once they have obtained formal benefits it will be impossible to send them back. Of course this is coupled with the disintegration of any enforcement mechanism at our borders, not to mention any formal law enforcement.

Like Europe, we never voted on making the illegals part and parcel of society; the elites just went ahead and did it. So we have formal democratic trappings, but in substance the elites just go and do what they want on the important things and we can’t do much about it except maybe make them go a little slower.

Yes people have guns. But guns, although they help preserve what liberty we have left, are not a formal part of a democratic mechanism. Generally, if used on a mass basis, they would be used to completely overturn and transform a social structure, i.e. something other than a normal part of society’s political process. (and of course I am not advocating a violent overturn of our social structure).

A candidate masquerades as pro-Israel, this helps him get elected, and he turns around and stabs Israel; no effective checks and balances; the supposed checks and balances seem, as often as not to collaborate in usurping power and decision-making.

Even apart from the courts’ usurping of nominally democratic rights. Is this trend irreversible? Maybe not, but it is getting to that point, and except for formal trappings, I don’t think we really have democracy in the United States.

I have a solution to this immigration problem. And this will work. Go after the people who hire them:

“Any person who . . . encourages or induces an alien to . . . reside . . . knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such . . . residence is . . . in violation of law, shall be punished as provided . . . for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs . . . fined under title 18 . . . imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.”

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or

* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime. Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his or her work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

So if the feds won’t do it, the local and state officials can.

Go after the corporations. What makes the illegals wanting to come here?

If there is no work, then why come? Oh and if you live in the State of California or in that case, in the United States, go to your local police, Sheriff’s or State trooper department and demand that they arrest a corporation or person hiring these illegals under: Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

In California it’s called: 837 P.C. or:

837. A private person may arrest another:
1. For a public offense committed or attempted in his presence.
2. When the person arrested has committed a felony, although not
in his presence.
3. When a felony has been in fact committed, and he has reasonable
cause for believing the person arrested to have committed it.

And if they refuse, you can sue your state law enforcement agency and sue them. Go after the dealer, not the user

I’m completely on board with “freefromice”…I’m glad to have bailed out of that pathetic agency.

As for “customs ‘koolaid drinker’ forever”; just another legacy customs weenie. I suppose customs never broke or bent any laws when they did an investigation (if they ever did a real one)? Hell, they do it all the time…against their own people.

No, JLin, that’s not Doogie; that’s Tommy Pickles..all growed up.

This agency is all messed up. Customs people rule the roose, in all areas and in internal affairs, while INS people are pushed out. Management is ALL Customs and they don’t like going after illegals. So no worksite ops, no home ops, no illegal ops, no illegals at all! We gott more agents doing admin work than arresting illegal aliens. I told my asac i wanted to arrest illegal alien state parolees and i was told if i did i would be transferred to a desk job. i’m now applying to my local police force for a job, since i can’t arrest anyone in ice. also known as “i cant enforce”.

icefednomore on March 20, 2010 at 10:03 pm

ICE is also known as (I can’t explain). If you ask around most of the ICE agents would like worksite enforcement to go away, and I agreed this agency is all messed up.

Non-story. Same thing happened under Bush and Clinton administrations.

ExICE on March 22, 2010 at 10:25 am

For American’s that do not support Amnesty, each day call several businesses “IMMIGRATION RAID”. They will clear out if illegals are there & will disrupt the businesses that hire them. We need to do this NOW before the RAIDS Stop!!

NOAmnestyEver on March 22, 2010 at 12:18 pm

ICE is a big mess and led by a bunch of idiots who hve bankrupt the place. The front ofice leadership is sleeping with each other and as I reward are getting choice agent assignmetns in the field. I understand that we should not discrminate, but if you are not gay, you don’t stand a chance with the front office gang. Rumor mill running wild with tales of the Chief of Staff and Deputy having an affair. The agency has nearly a 20 million dollar payroll deficit and the front office gang fly from city to city each day.
