For years, I’ve been lamenting the outrageous Cuban prison sentence for Alan Gross, the American contractor who was put in a Cuban gulag for installing internet service for the Cuban Jewish Community at the behest of the US Agency for International Development. And while he rots in captivity in Cuba, Barack Obama yuks it up with his prisonmaster. Despicable.

I had a trial scheduled for today (thus, my absence here for the last 1.5 days–sorry), so I was up all night, last night, preparing. And while I was organizing and reviewing my exhibits, I watched in disgust as the Woodstock II for aging hippies, Marxists, and terrorists was taking place: Nelson Mandela Gushfest, or as I call it, “Mandelastock.” Back in the day, they and their contemporaries did drugs and had random sex in the mud at Woodstock. Today, they party in the name of a super-cretin at Mandelastock. I was sickened when in the middle of the early morning, at around 5:00 a.m. Eastern, all the broadcast channels on my cable-free TV broke into a live broadcast of this unearned tribute to a racist, America-hating, anti-Israel, anti-Semitic terrorist-cum-wormfood. And when I returned home from court, I learned that Barack Obama shook hands and yukked it up with Cuban dictator Raul Castro, a total travesty. And it wasn’t just a handshake. It was a handshake and a bow. Check the photos and video.

While Barack Obama is taking selfies with blondes at Mandelastock after slobbering over Castro, Alan Gross is serving a 15 year sentence in Cuba. Gross lost half his weight and is very sick–he’s been in the Cuban jails for over four years. On top of that, both his wife and daughter have cancer, and he hasn’t seen them since they were diagnosed. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama bear responsibility for the fate of Alan Gross because they sent him to Cuba. Yet, each time they had an opportunity to demand Gross’ release, they did nothing. Instead, they pursued opening U.S. trade and travel with Cuba. Yup, that’s the ticket: reward those who imprison Americans who are imprisoned for their service at America’s behest. As many readers know, I’m the longtime movie critic for the SiriusXM Patriot Channel’s terrific morning program, “The Mike Church Show,” and you can hear my movie reviews on the show, every Friday morning between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Eastern (in addition to reading them here). Every year, the Hollywood movie studios put on a full day of movie screenings for members of the Detroit Film Critics Socity (membership has its privileges, like spending endless hours of life you’ll never get back watching junk food for the mind). But there were so many new movies coming out that the studios wanted us to consider for our annual votes of the best movies, best actors/actresses, etc., that we had two days of this stuff. Every city has its film critics group, which gets recognition for its annual choices for the “bests.” And we have ours in Detroit. My “bests” usually get drowned out, since I’m the lone conservative among the bunch of mainstream liberal movie critics.

So, on Tuesday and Thursday, we saw ten movies (in fairness, I saw two of them on screeners the studios sent us and missed one of the other movies–“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”). I call these days, “Movie Coma Days,” because it’s tiring and my mind is put in a coma seeing all this crap. Most of these movies are 2.5-3 hours long–completely absurd. The egomaniacs actually think I need to watch their repetitive BS, when all of these movies could be under 1.5 hours and make the same points (or be just as pointless). I know it sounds like fun (and it’s not like I’m doing backbreaking work just sitting there in a dark room watching), but trust me, seeing every movie that comes out is work, NOT fun. While this is my choice and I’m not whining, I sit through a whole lot of mind-numbing, absolute dreck and miss a lot of hours of beautiful daylight just to see the few–very few!–cinematic gems and warn you off of the rest. Out of ten movies, I liked 1.75 (I really liked one movie, half liked another, and partially liked a third one).

“Out of the Furnace,” the new Christian Bale movie in theaters today, should have stayed inside the furnace and spared America. It’s horribly violent, incredibly depressing, long, slow, boring, and pointless. Oh, and did I mention that it’s dark, dreary, and every single person in it is miserable, dead, or soon to be one or both?

Bale’s a great actor–one of my favorites–but this movie is a waste of your ten-plus bucks and two hours. You’ll walk out of the movie at the end–if you aren’t smart enough to walk out in the middle and cut your losses–noting that a time bandit just robbed you of valuable life you ain’t gonna get back . . . ever. Life is simply too short to spend it in a dark theater subjected to this wonderless tripe. The rest of this review is filled with spoilers, so if you wanna be a dummy and see this crap anyway, don’t read on. You were forewarned. For everyone else, keep reading. Only the good die young, as Billy Joel once sang. And so it goes with Nelson Mandela, Marxist leader, racist, Jew-hater, friend of HAMAS and Arafat, who died yesterday at age 95. (I was away at an annual all day film critics’ movie screening put on by the Hollywood studios–more on that in a later post, as I continue to detox from that junk food of the mind.)

We knew this day, when the over-hype-on-steroids regarding the myth that is Mandela was coming. But we underdiagnosed the amount of saccharin-sweet fiction about this man, Mandela, who famously sang, “Kill the Whites.” See the YouTube video below, in which he sings, “Kill the Ama–the Bhulu” (with several of his far-left White supporters). The “Bhulu” are the Whites in the Black South African language known as Xhosa. The Ama Bhulu is the White nation/the Whites in the South.

As I’ve written on this site many times, Nelson Mandela was extremely anti-Israel and a close friend of Yasser Arafat’s. Later on, he supported HAMAS in Gaza, participating in a Gaza march against Israel (along with Jimmy Carter) and in support of HAMAS after HAMAS kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2009 and stepped up deadly rocket attacks on innocent civilians. Mandela had a history of supporting Islamic terrorism against Jews and against Israel, and was also in solidarity with Muslims against other targets of Islamic terrorists, including Christians. Mandela’s close friend partner in ANC crime, Bishop Desmond Tutu, also has a long history of openly anti-Semitic comments, none of which Mandela ever condemned, disavowed, or distanced himself from. Check out the letter my late father wrote about Tutu, documenting all of this in a letter to the President of the University of Pennsylvania, when Tutu was the speaker at my brother’s graduation from the Wharton School of Business.

When Mandela and his Communist ANC took over South Africa, Jews left the country in droves. That’s because Mandela fostered an atmosphere of non-stop anti-Semitism/Jew-hatred and opened South Africa’s borders to PLO and other Islamic terrorists to train there. Yasser Arafat was a frequent, beloved guest of Mandela over the years and made more appearances in President Mandela’s lair than most real heads of state, including those of African nations. Mandela also praised Yasser Arafat as a “comrade in arms.” Look at the photos above for just some of the appearances. Google “Nelson Mandela Arafat” in Google Images and you’ll see they had a long-term man-crush love affair. And while you’re at it, google “Nelson Mandela Castro,” and you’ll see a whole lot more on the romantic relationship between Mandela and Cuba’s Castro. Yup, whatta stellar guy. The family of murdered Pennsylvania National Guard officer Gennaro “Jerry” Pellegrini, Jr. is outraged that the Obama Administration and its Justice Department kept them in the dark about the fact that their son/brother’s Iraqi Muslim killer was not only given U.S. citizenship but that they were not notified when the government indicted him. Dana Shearon, Army Spc. Pellegrini’s sister, contacted and spoke exclusively with DebbieSchlussel.com, as Mrs. Shearon’s husband is a regular reader of this site.

Gennaro Pellegrini at Home and In Iraq . . .

As longtime readers may recall, back in June 2011, we first wrote about Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, the Iraqi Muslim terrorists who were granted entry into the United States and then granted citizenship, despite the fact that the United States had already caught them, years earlier, and they admitted at that time that they were involved in terrorist attacks against Americans on behalf of Al-Qaeda. But they were not only let go, they were allowed into the United States as “refugees” who successfully sought asylum in America. The U.S. government had even taken their fingerprints, at least one of which matched a fingerprint on an IED–the IED they used to murder Jerry Pellegrini, but this information was never checked until later on when Alwan and Hammadi, living in Bowling Green, Kentucky (one of them in public housing), attempted to help Al-Qaeda murder more Americans. The FBI was involved in the investigation and the two were indicted.

Dana Shearon, in e-mails and telephone conversations, told DebbieSchlussel.com that no one from either the Obama Administration’s Justice Department or from the FBI ever contacted her, her father or anyone else in Pfc. Pellegrini’s family to inform them that her brother’s killers were allowed into America, that they had been given U.S. citizenship, or that they were caught trying to help Al-Qaeda from their new tax-subsidized homes in Kentucky. The Pellegrini Family was never invited to attend the trial or speak as victims about the impact their dear brother/son’s murder has had on them. Instead, they learned about the indictment from DebbieSchlussel.com and the conviction from ABC News. You would think that given that their brother and son made the ultimate sacrifice in service to America, contacting and informing them about this is the least the Obama Administration could do. But Obama and his minions, while usually only doing the least, didn’t even do that in this case. The Pellegrinis still have yet to hear from anyone in the FBI or the Justice Administration.

The Islamic Schmucks Who Murdered Jerry Pellegrini . . .

And in connection with the story, I told you, back in July 2011, that the U.S. government finally discovered America and realized it hadn’t properly screened any of the 58,000 immigrants it let into the U.S. from Iraq and to whom it gave citizenship, like Alwan and Hammadi, and the government scrambled to find and re-screen them all (do you believe they actually did? I don’t).

Two weeks ago, ABC’s Brian Ross and Matt Drudge finally caught on to this story you read about on this site, nearly 2.5 years ago, and Ross noted that the U.S. government began re-checking (or rather, checking for the first time) the tens of thousands of Iraqi “refugees” we allowed into the U.S. and to whom we gave citizenship. But, as I noted back in 2011 when I first wrote about this, Alwan and Hammadi highlight what already is a massive problem with our immigration system–which will be amplified geometrically tens of thousands of times cubed under amnesty.

Currently, the U.S. government spends less than six minutes checking each immigrant seeking citizenship. And that doesn’t even account for the bathroom and smoking breaks the immigration benefits adjudicators (who “check”–very quickly–the backgrounds and essentially rubber stamp most citizenship applications) at Homeland Security’s Citizenship and Immigration Services take, which means the time spent check these immigrants is even less. Alwan and Hammadi are not the only ones who slipped through the giant sieve that is the system, despite what Brian Ross reported on ABC News. There many Islamic terrorists like them in our midst who’ve gotten through and are now citizens because we barely check them out and even if we did, the immigration applicants can make up any name and say they are whoever they want to say they are. We have no way of proving otherwise. I’ve written about Mr. X a/k/a Noureddine Malki a/k/a Almaliki Nour a/k/a Abu Hakim a/k/a Abdulhakeem Nour, a Muslim translator for the U.S. military, who was also an Al-Qaeda operative who got U.S. citizenship. We still don’t know his real name and who he really is (he gave a false name). And he gave Al-Qaeda our troops movements and plans, allowing the terrorist group to kill many Americans in Iraq.

Dana Shearon, Jerry Pellegrini’s sister, is disgusted by this whole thing because they had Alwan and Hammadi in Iraq, and, yet, America released them. They had their fingerprints, and yet America allowed them into the country. That America allowed the Muslim terrorists who murdered her brother into the country and gave them citizenship and public housing is insult on top of injury with regard to the murder of her brother. “How does this happen?!” she asked in a telephone conversation we had this week. Mrs. Shearon says that she is worried for her son, who is currently a U.S. Marine. She says he can even be attacked on U.S. soil because Islamic terrorists, like her brother’s killers, are allowed into the U.S. without much of a cursory check. The men who murdered her brother were only caught on American soil after they initiated plans to help Al-Qaeda again. And we were lucky that plot was intercepted.

Moreover, Mrs. Shearon worked for a U.S. contractor that does the fingerprinting of immigration applicants. “I don’t understand how they had these guys in custody over there and how they had their fingerprints from the IED that killed my brother, and yet they get to come to the U.S. and live free in public housing without anyone checking who these guys are. How does this happen?!” And, again, she asks why her dear father, Jerry Pellegrini’s only living parent has never heard anything about his son’s murderers, except through what she tells him about reports she’s read online. Where is the Obama Administration on this? No common courtesy for relatives of those who gave their lives for America. Just crickets chirping . . . . If the Pellegrinis were Muslim, perhaps Obama would be right over and bowing down to them or inviting them to Ramadan dinners at the White House.

Jerry Pellegrini, may he rest in peace, sounds like he was a really terrific guy–the kind you used to see in the movies but rarely get the chance to meet in real life anymore. He was a real American hero and a complete mensch. When he died at age 31 in Bayji, Iraq, he had just begun his winning career as a professional Welterweight boxer and was a Philadelphia police officer, just like his retired father (he even took his father’s badge number). He was a Golden Gloves star and was known as “One Punch Jerry” by the Philadelphia police because he once knocked out a violent suspect with one punch. Despite the way Muslims ultimately treated him, he collected hundreds of pairs of flip-flops from American schoolchildren to donate to Iraqi kids. This guy was one of the good guys. “There’s a kid that never gave up,” said Frank Talent, of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission, who watched Pellegrini, an amateur welterweight, win his first professional fight . . . . “He had heart to the end.”

How disgusting it is the way America has treated his family in response, while it treated his murderers with kid gloves.

What happens to a Shi’ite Muslim Arab who hangs American and Israeli flags at his home in Dearbornistan? He is subject to non-stop hate crimes from fellow Muslims in his Muslim-dominated city. That’s what happened to Hussein Dakhlallah, a Shi’ite Muslim from Lebanon, who made “the wrong gesture” in a strongly pro-Hezbollah “American” city. Dearbornistan today. Your city or town, tomorrow. This is what happens as Muslims reach critical mass.

The Islamo-pandering and PC taint to local news in the Detroit area is apparent when you note that this story was covered very briefly (and late on the Saturday night Eleven O’Clock news on Thanksgiving Weekend)–by only one local Detroit news station over the weekend, and then–poof!–it’s gone.

Terresa and Hussein Dakhlallah say it all started two years ago when they put an American flag and an Israeli flag up outside of their Dearborn home. Terresa is American, but she grew up in Canada. Hussein is from Lebanon. “They left Nazi signs in our front yard, ” said Terresa. “Two people were standing there, one with a lighter and one with a gas tank, telling us that they were going to burn our home down.” The couple has been taunted over and over again — even on Thanksgiving as Terresa began to decorate her home for Christmas. Yes, it’s sad that Paul Walker, a very good looking actor, died in a fiery crash. I was shocked when I read about it in the newspaper, Sunday morning, mostly because it goes to show that life is short no matter who you are. I’m sorry he died and feel for his family. But the hype over his death and the beatification of this guy, as if he’s some sort of saint, isn’t just approaching excessive. It’s well beyond that. It’s ridiculous. And it’s all because of his looks, not his acting.

It’s James Dean, the redux. They drove similar cars and died nearly the same way.

As a movie critic, I’ve seen many of Walker’s movies. Many of them went straight to DVD. And one of those that wasn’t straight to DVD, “Takers” (read my review), had a horrible message. The movie applauded violence by bank robbers (one of whom was Walker) against police. It was a “Yay, Cop Killing!” movie. Walker was an average, maybe even substandard, actor. And Hollywood caught on. Yes, he had model good looks (though he looked better when he was younger and was approaching haggard-dom). But good-looking guys are a dime a dozen there, and Walker was cast in the Fast and Furious movies, but little else that was a hit. And the most recent Fast and Furious movie was an absolute joke (read my review). Walker was a B-list actor at the most. He recently played a character called “Raw Dog,” in some movie called, “Pawn Shop Chronicles.” Probably a bomb.

And the way he lived his life wasn’t exactly stellar. Yes, he raised money for charity. That’s what celebs do to raise their profiles. But he fathered a daughter out of wedlock, never marrying the mother, and was “dating” (euphemism) a girlfriend who was just a few years older than his 15-year-old daughter. At 40, at the time of his death, Walker’s girlfriend was 23, and they’d been “dating” since she was a 16-year-old and he was 33. This past weekend, we had a stark contrast in how online businesses work versus how ObamaCare doesn’t work. And today, we’ll have yet another.

Over the weekend, the Obama administration gushed that it can now (barely) handle 50,000 users at one time on Healthcare.flub, the site for the (Un)Affordable Care Act. And even with this new 50,000 claim, CNN showed that it still didn’t work as touted. We’re told it won’t work fully like it should until perhaps 2017. Contrast that with Walmart over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend or Amazon today, Cyber Monday.

For Grey Thursday and Black Friday, Walmart reported it had over 400 million hits on Walmart.com to see and purchase its Black Friday doorbuster specials online (over the two days). That’s an average of 8,333,333 users per hour. And all of them seemed to have no problem purchasing things on the Walmart site. The only problem was when popular doorbuster items completely sold out, such as a $10 women’s Faded Glory jacket. (It’s warm and looks great on–I know because I bought one at the store). There’s no worry that health insurance will “sell out” on Healthcare.flub because, after all, it’s not a ten buck jacket. With the higher premiums and deductibles under ObamaCare, it’s far more pricey and not quite the same value.

Today, with Cyber Monday, it’s Amazon.com’s turn to show up the ObamaCare website. Last night, CEO Jeff Bezos gave an interesting interview to “60 Minutes.” Although all the hype in the news is over reports he’s seeking to use drones for half hour deliveries (and it is, indeed, cool to watch the footage of the drones delivering items to trucks at the shipping centers).

But, to me, the news was delivered at the beginning of the report, when Bezos and his people said they will process 300 sales transactions per second on their site today. That’s 18,000 transactions per minute and 1,080,000 per hour. For a 24 hour period, it’s 25,920,000 sales. And that’s not counting traffic from those who browse the site but do not make a purchase. These movies debuted in theaters on Wednesday, just ahead of Thanksgiving, but I chose to put up my reviews for the weekend. Nothing to write home about here. I’m beginning with the relative best first–the term, “relative,” being very key here. (I did not see “Frozen.”)

* “Homefront“: As a fan of Jason Statham, I generally like his movies a lot because they are almost always what you expect when you pay to see a Statham movie: stark good versus evil, lots of action, and the good guy (usually Statham) wins in the end. While those are all at play in this movie and it was entertaining, I found it slightly schlocky and cheesy in comparison to Statham’s usual fare. It’s not that tightly written (which could have something to do with the fact that Sylvester Stallone wrote the script) and less believable than even the usual Statham stuff. Still, it will do. But it is extremely violent and not at all for kids. Don’t bring them with you to see it.

I found James Franco as a “scary” drug dealer to be absurd. The guy is very doofus-istic in this movie and seems no match for the taller, tougher, more sophisticated Statham. And some of the movie feels like it was weirdly edited and left on the “cutting room floor.” For example, the movie twice foreshadows the appearance of poisonous snakes and, more than once, hints at alligators, but then we never see any (not that I minded this).
