ABC: Foreign Pilots Still Training @ Flight Schools; The Hypocrisy of ABC News

By Debbie Schlussel
I’m confused, dear readers. Maybe you can help explain this inconsistency to me and make things jibe.
Tonight, on ABC’s “World News Tonight,” investigative reporter Brian Ross reports that thousands of foreigners are taking flying lessons at domestic flight schools, and it could be “another 9/11.” ABC’s publicists sent me an alert about the story and told me it’s a “9/11 Redux.” Therefore, I need to be concerned.
But the amorphous, general “foreigners” at pilot schools are not necessarily the specific category of those who took flight lessons and downed four planes on 9/11, murdering almost 3,000 Americans. It was ARAB MUSLIM foreigners who trained at flight schools who did it.

But, last night, ABC News told me–in an hour-long primetime news special–that if I refuse to service Muslims at my place of business, I’m prejudiced–“Islamophobic!” And violating the law, they told all viewers.
I’m confused.
So, which is it? If I refuse to serve Arab Muslim aliens at flight schools, I’m bigoted. But if I refuse to serve the general “foreign pilots,” then I’m an American hero preventing another 9/11.
Sorry, but I’m not the one who is mixed up when it comes to suspicious Muslims at businesses in America.
ABC is. If you can’t get it straight, ABC News, don’t lecture us about the manufactured “Islamophobic” Americans who are just Americans that remember who attacked us on 9/11 and well before and ever since.

ABC’s “Islamophobic” Americans

By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE: Here’s a quick video summary of the whole thing (the whole thing is at the link below). The man who mentioned that Jews and Christians never blew anything up was NOT shown on ABC, last night. Gee, I wonder why. ****
I’ve written about CBS’ attempts to get Muslims to go to various places and show how “Islamophobic” Americans are. NBC and other networks–yes, including your precious FOX News–have tried the same. So it was with no surprise that, last night, I watched ABC News “reporter” John Quinones (who seems more interesting in manufacturing news than in reporting it) set up Southerners at a bakery, blaming them for “not intervening” while an actor posing as an employee refused service to an actress in a headscarf (hijab) posing as a Muslima (female Muslim). The report was called, “Primetime: What Would You Do?– Islamophobia.” The video is on the upper right-hand corner.
But, in fact, he got it wrong on all counts. While several of those at the bakery did stand up for the woman they believed was a persecuted Muslim, the ones who did not had far better reasons. The fact is that a phobia is an irrational fear or hatred. How unreasonable is it to hate or fear those who who’ve repeatedly fomented terrorist attacks on Americans and other innocent Westerners? How irrational is it to worry about this religion that is more cult than faith and which is imposing its intolerance all over America and the rest of the world?

hijabugly.jpg

I’ll tell you the ABC “Primetime” “What Would You Do?” report that I’ll never see, but would love to: A non-Muslim posing as a Muslim–as I regularly do–in a majority Muslim environment. I guarantee you won’t see any Muslims helping such a woman, only viciously attacking her. Or a secret camera showing what Muslims think of us when they don’t know we’re watching. That’s what all Americans need to see, especially the crybaby Americans who cried and bitched over the treatment of the hijab-encrusted woman. They will be the first ones slaughtered in an Islamic society.
And their statements were ignorant. One man shouted that a hijab is a “necessary religious item,” but it isn’t. The Koran says nothing about wearing a headscarf, nor does Islamic law. Many religious Muslim women do not wear one. It’s a sign of extremism and oppression, nothing more, in Islam. Oh, and “modesty” (a big joke for the many Islamic women who wear one and then cheat on their husbands or wear low-rise jeans–we have plenty of those here in Detroit).
I’ve posed in a hijab in many locations, on my way to going undercover at mosques or other Islamic events. And my experience is not the persecution that CAIR and John Quinones and ABC and “Primetime” claim that there is. On the contrary, I was treated far better in my hijab than I was as a normal person. People smiled at me and fell all over themselves to tell me the time and/or wait on me at stores and service-oriented businesses. “Look at me, I’m helping the Muslim girl. What a great American I am.” It was sickening.
If there’s any prejudice toward Muslims in America, it is mostly on the other side–that is, it’s about how Americans go overboard to bend over backward . . . and forward for these people, whose religion wants us dead.
And it’s not Islamophobia to take note of that.

HOprah Watch: Be a Great Mom By Becoming a . . . Stripper?

By Debbie Schlussel
The conventional wisdom is that Oprah Winfrey empowers women, teaching them self-esteem (actually, inflating their self-esteem way too much), and telling them to care about themselves before their husbands and families.
But the conventional wisdom is wrong. In yet another example of why the conventional wisdeom is wrong, today, on her daily talk show HRHSBotU [Her Royal Highness Supreme Being of the Universe] Oprah told America’s women that being a stripper is a great job if you’re a mom. You get to spend the whole day with your kids. And you only have to take off your clothes and be ogled by men who are total strangers at night. How convenient and empowering.

stripclub.jpgoprahmagfullofherself.jpg

(Oprah Mag Artwork Courtesy of the Talented David Lunde)

The 40-something transsexual-looking stripper and mom who was on the Oprah show today told us that she works “an 8-hour shift” as a sexual object, “from 8:00 p.m. to 2:45 a.m.” So, it’s official: Not only are strippers “great moms,” they are also great mathematicians. Well let’s hope this stripper is better at adding the dollars inserted into her g-string and cleavage than she is at figuring out the number of hours she works.
Oprah tells the audience and the rest of the world that we shouldn’t “judge.” Tell it to your mirror girlfriend, as you’ve spent over two decades judging conservatives, marriage, and men on the publicly broadcast airwaves. And everything else you haven’t judged and polluted the airwaves with–like today’s show–actually needed a little judging.
But, no worries, this stripper mom “has great abs,” and works out every morning, so, in Oprah’s eyes, that makes her a good person.
In fact, this stripper mom knows her job is so respectable that, until today, she lied and told people she is a “showroom model.” Oprah is worried that other parents will tell their kids they can’t be around stripper mom’s daughter and again tells America not to judge. I don’t have kids, but if I did, you’d better believe they wouldn’t go near a stripper’s kids. I know the kid didn’t choose her mom, but do you want your kids thinking stripping is a great lifestyle?
Incredibly, Oprah’s resident HAMAS-loving reporter, Lisa Ling, said she was “converted” to the view that stripping is a great way to be a working mom because you get to be with your kids all day. And Oprah said how hard life is for the average working woman and how good a life this seems to be.
Hmmm . . . funny how these died in the wool feminists are suddenly attacking the mandatory working-woman culture they and their movement created. Even more funny what their solution is . . . good old fashion slut-dom . . . for money.
Yup, this is what your kids are seeing on after-school TV and this is Oprah’s message of “empowerment” to women all over the world who see her show. Nothing about the life of drugs, prostitution, and other illicit behavior that many strippers get into. One “redeeming” thing: Most of the women who watch this horrible daily cult show simply are too fat and out of shape to be strippers. Thank Heaven for small favors.
Ironically, the arrogant, conceited Oprah is teaching an “online course” on how to live a better life. Is bumping and grinding part of the gig?
Very sad that American women take lessons and advice of any kind from this demented talk show host cult leader.

Ripe For Terrorist Abuse: Why Does “Trusted Traveler” Still Exist?

By Debbie Schlussel
Ever since the Transportation Security Administraton (TSA) began the “registered traveler” or “Trusted Traveler” program, I was against it. The program allows those who pay $100 annually to sign up with Verified Identity Pass, Inc. and clear an initial background check to avoid any rigorous or secondary screening at airport security.
On this site, I repeatedly questioned it, since, as I noted, Islamic terrorists with no prior record or who used a phony name/identity to enter the country, could become “Trusted Travelers,” sped through airport security without a second look or any degree of scrutiny in screening. And as I wrote, Mohammed Atta and most–if not all–of the 9/11 hijackers would have qualified for the program.

trustedtraveler.jpg

Yet the TSA pursued and allowed it. They wasted millions of dollars getting it through Congress, getting bids, and designing the program, all because business travelers wined about increased airport screening. What they should have been whining about is why America doesn’t speed things up by profiling, as the Israelis do with far greater success than America.
Millions of dollars later, TSA told Congress and USA Today, last year, that they realized the system was a security risk. That’s reiterated in today’s Wall Street Journal. Welcome to America, folks. Glad they finally realized what anyone, including me, could have realized a long time ago, before they wasted our money:

The Registered Traveler program was intended to move those with clean records to the front of the line, says Kip Hawley, TSA administrator.
Over the next few years, TSA poured federal funds into testing biometric systems for identification. In 2004, it set up a pilot program in five different airports, offering about 2,000 people at each location a free membership. Officials soon realized, however, the flawed logic behind the Registered Traveler program: It might actually increase security risks because a terrorist with a clean record could still get on a plane.

Bingo. Mazel Tov [Congrats], Mr. Hawley, after wasting our money and possibly already helping terrorists into this program, you finally got it. Now, what are you going to do about it?
Answer: Nothing. Nothing is being done to end Trusted Traveler. And you or I or Mohammed Atta, Jr. can become a member any time we want.
Why are we calling people we can’t trust at all, “Trusted Traveler” status?
You’d think that if an organization trusted with America’s in-air secutiry found out they helped increase the chances terrorists with weapons got aboard planes, they’d end the program. But, if you thought that, you don’t know the incompetent TSA, which is more worried about whether or not Joe Schmo’s 3-ounce toothpaste tube is inside a quart-size ziplock bag.
America post-9/11–far less safe than before that date. Thanks, President Bush and Michael “Serpenthead” Chertoff. On your watch, boys. On your watch.

Schlussel Radio Across America: Me on Roger Hedgecock Show Today

By Debbie Schlussel
I will be on “The Roger Hedgecock Show” today at 5:00 p.m. Pacific/8:00 p.m. Eastern, Today, on 600 KOGO-AM in San Diego. We’ll be discussing various topics on this site and in the news. Listen Live.

rogerhedgecock.jpg

For those readers who were upset I did not post here about my appearances, Monday, on the nationally syndicated Michael Reagan Show and Larry Elder Show (with guest host and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Slisa), I’m sorry. My DSL was down and I was offline. My apologies. Thanks to Michael and Curtis for having me on.
Also, don’t forget my weekly movie reviews, every Friday on “The Mike Church Show” on Sirius Patriot Channel 144 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
Next week, on Wednesday, March 5th, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern, I’m scheduled to make my monthly visit to liberal Reverend Barry Lynn’s “Culture Shocks” radio show. Barry is such a nice guy with a great sense of humor, he makes disagreeing with him very fun. Make no mistake–I don’t agree with him on most things. But you have to reach out and convert the non-believers, like his listeners.
There are some liberal shows I turn down. I was asked, this week, for instance to be on a show during Roseanne’s week of subbing on Airhead America. But I simply couldn’t take it, the first, last, and only time I did her show. I found her and her co-host/boyfriend Johnny to be loathsome, anti-Semitic (yes, I know that Roseanne is a pseudo-Jew) nutjobs. Never again.

Hillary’s Mistake: Stupid Word-Parsing versus Real Farrakhan-Obama Info; Plus-St. Pete Times Interviews Me on Obama and Islam

By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE: Video Posted ****
The Clintons must have incurable WPS (Word-Parsing Syndrome). We all know about Bill Clinton’s parsing about what the words “sex” and “is” mean.
But last night, during the Democratic debate, Hillary Clinton–whom I’d much prefer to Barack Hussein Obama–missed a golden opportunity to hang B Hussein O on the Farrakhan issue. Instead of demanding that Obama use the word “reject” instead of “denounce”–a distinction without a difference that, frankly, made her look silly and petty and backfired on her (video below). She should have demanded that Obama fire his Nation of Islam staffers and promise he won’t have Nation of Islam staffers in the White House. She should have asked him about his association with the Edward Said and his own pastor, Jeremiah Wright. She failed. Here’s the video (don’t believe Obama’s phony sudden support for Israel–he’s lying and far too many Jews believe this Pied Piper):

That would have started the ball rolling on this issue in the Mainstream media and made gains for her among Whites, especially Jewish Whites (though I think I’m being optimistic–most of them are blindly following this guy despite everything that’s come out about him).
I know the Hillary people are aware of my investigative report about Obama’s numerous Nation of Islam employees, past and present, in key positions on the staffs of his U.S. Senate and his former and current campaigns. As I’ve written, the Treasurer of B Hussein O’s U.S. Senate campaign was Cynthia K. Miller who basically admitted to me that she is a Nation of Islam Member. His Director of Constituent Services–who also picks his Senate interns–is another NOI member, Jennifer Mason.
The Hillary people told me they repeatedly pitched the story I wrote and the information I put forth to many mainstream media reporters, none of whom would cover this. I know that to be the case in my own experience. For example, St. Petersburg Times reporter Wes Allison interviewed me for this article about Obama and Islam. I pointed out these two Obama staffers and others and asked Allison to look into it. It could be an attention-getting piece for a guy like him. He said he would. But, predictably, he didn’t, and instead produced this softball, puff-piece touting Obama’s claim that he’s not Muslim. Incidentally here’s the quote from me he chose:

“I don’t believe he’s a Manchurian candidate. I have said that he does have these very significant Islamic connections that you cannot break away from. Those are part of his life,” said Debbie Schlussel, a conservative commentator and occasional guest on Fox News whose blog, www.debbieschlussel.com, has provided a forum for readers to discuss the Obama e-mails and their concerns about his heritage.
She said she finds Obama’s background scary. “We’ve never had a candidate who is so closely allied to a religion shared by those who are at war with us around the world.”

That’s not what I said. I was far stronger in my statements about Obama and how he’s running away from his Islamic background and trying to hide it. I asked why he won’t admit: “Yes, I have an Islamic background, but I am a Christian, and I don’t believe in Islam. I renounce my Islamic past.” That would go a long way.
But St. Pete Times reporter Allison couldn’t bring himself to print that. And actually, we’ve never discussed the e-mails on my site–only my work that inspired them in the first place (about B Hussein O’s Islamic heritage), but this reporter simply didn’t want to “report.” Or delve further than B Hussein O’s talking points on himself and Islam.
When someone finally does in the mainstream media, it will be far too late. It’s already too late.

Video of the Day #2: “Classy” Airhead America Liberals Attack Schlussel on B Hussein O

By Debbie Schlussel
Well over a year ago, when I first wrote about Barack Hussein Obama’s Islamic background, I was roundly excoriated–not just by liberals, but by CINOs (Conservatives in Name Only), of which there are far too many. I understand the knee-jerk reaction of the left. But I’m not sure why those holier-than-thous on the right were so upset that I wrote the truth, other than their PC gods that tell them that thou must speak/hear/see no evil about Muslims and Islam post-9/11. And we cannot have truth enter the equation. Plus, those with far less traffic and readership wanted to say, “Look at me, I’m better than Schlussel.” Whatever. Since then, I’ve posted a ton of stuff on Obama backing this up, including an exclusive investigative piece on Obama’s Islamist leanings and Nation of Islam employees in key positions on his U.S. Senate staff.
Among the most annoying and–frankly, silly and unintelligent–Schlussel “attackers” regarding Obama were these two weak slackers from Air America. I’m posting their video mostly for its entertainment value–to show you, a year later, how wrong they were and crude (because they can’t make a legit point, so that’s what they resort to).

Every time I watch it, it at once gives me comfort–at how stupid and juvenile the other side is–and dismay–that there are such dumb, coarse idiots in America with a political radio show. Although it is the most viewed video under my name at YouTube, most of the people posting comments on it agree with me on Obama. And this video–in its stupidity and classlessness–makes my point, more than it makes their point.
These anti-adonis slackjobs call themselves “The Young Turks.” But they’re neither young, nor are they “young Turks,” since they’re just conventional left-wing bores (and boors). One is a wimpy, far-left Jew, who, sadly, wasn’t blessed with the intellect of the Jewish people (yes, there are mutant genes in every population). Methinks he could be easily broken in half. The chubby one is a “former” Muslim from Turkey (get it?–Young Turks; how catchy), who still–in his own mind–is a Muslim with a chip the size of North America on his shoulder.
Over a year later, you can see that what I wrote was correct and, I dare say, prescient. What they said was ill-informed and has proven false. Their uber-classy nature remains. (In case you don’t get it, that was sarcasm.) My fave part is their even more airheaded chick sidekick who doesn’t know that McCain is an Irish surname and thinks it could be Germanic. Yup, and the last name “Houlihan” comes right from central Bavaria.
Oh, and as for their comments:
* The Arab Street is, in fact, rooting for Obama. Read any Arab or Muslim newspaper. Not that these idiots do.
* So I made it up that Obama’s moving in the direction of his father. They ask how he is moving in the direction of his Kenyan father’s heritage. Hmmm . . . I’m sure these pics are just my imagination. . .

barackobamaislamicdress2.jpg

Photo From Freedom’s Enemies

barackobamasomalidress.jpg

barackobamasomalidress2.jpg
* They claim that I’m really not anti-Muslim, but anti-Black and racist in my attacks on Obama. Really? Where in the heck in this piece have I mentioned his race? Do you see any mention of it here? They completely made their “inference” up, while attacking me for reporting facts. Here’s a tip, guys: Islam ain’t a race. Frankly, I’d love the Black Thomas Sowell, Ward Connerly, Alan Keyes, Walter Williams, Armstrong Williams, or a guy like Independent Conservative running the country. But, hey, when you have a weak argument, play the race card. That’s what liberals do.
* The completely idiotic sidekick chick and the two men are saying that if I attacked Blacks or Jews, everyone would be upset. Um . . . how many Blacks or Jews hijacked the planes on 9/11? Blew up the Kobar Towers, several U.S. embassies, and the Buenos Aires Jewish Community Center, beheaded Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg? When there’s a Black Jihad or Jewish Jihad targeting Americans and westerners all over the world, then I’ll be questioning them, too. Today, we know who is attacking us. (And sadly, some of them work for Airhead America.) Love how they attack “that Asian woman,” Michelle Malkin. But, nooooo, they’re not prejudiced.
* I happen to like the Irgun. One of my family’s closest friends was in the Irgun, which helped bring about freedom for the Jews from British control and finally allowed them to fight back against Arab Muslim terrorist attacks. We admire him greatly. If a member of the Irgun was President of the U.S.–or even today’s Israel–then Al-Qaeda and Islam would be reeling, not winning.

Video of the Day: Scents that Make Sense for Men?

By Debbie Schlussel
Some smart marketer at GodTube, a Christian website, sent me this video with the message:

I know that you like your men manly.
For the manly man in your life.

I doubt I’ll be doing that, since the odors in these candles sound like they’d make me sick (except, perhaps, the “leather”-scented candle). It reminds me of those jelly beans a few years ago, with flavors like “booger” and “vomit.” Uh, no thanks. I really don’t thinks these appeal to men . . . at least, not the kind of men I like. But I report, you decide. For whoever said religious Christians don’t have a sense of humor, here’s your rebuke:

Violence Against Border Agents Doubles: Increase in Giant Rock-Throwing, Shooting

By Debbie Schlussel
Yesterday, I wrote about the Bush administration’s prosecution of Border Patrol agent Nicholas Corbett for firing on illegal aliens who threw rocks at him, as they were trying to sneak into America through the Arizona desert.
As Israeli soldiers have known for decades, rock-throwing is often fatal. That’s why Palestinian terrorists throw them.
Now, figures released by the Border Patrol show that violence against Border Patrol agents has more than doubled from 2004 to 2007. It includes an attempt by aliens to use a barely visible wire to slit agents’ throats. As long as agents are prosecuted for trying to protect themselves from this, it will continue to escalate:

Since 2004, the number of assaults has more than doubled, from 384 that year to 987 in fiscal 2007. And this fiscal year, which began Oct. 1, is set to significantly outpace the last one: 409 to 275.

illegalaliens.jpg

Most of the assaults involve so-called “rockings,” in which drug and human smugglers throw rocks, bricks and other objects at agents.
But Homeland Security Secretary Michael [“Serpenthead“] Chertoff said more serious incidents have been reported.
“We’ve had occasions of people shooting at agents, trying to run agents down with vehicles, throwing large rocks or pieces of brick or concrete at agents, which actually can be fatal, and I’ve seen some pretty serious injuries that have resulted from it,” he said. “The levels have consistently increased.”
He says the escalation is the result of stepped-up enforcement that aims to put smugglers out of business. Since the 9/11 attacks raised fears of terrorists slipping into the USA across its land borders, Homeland Security has nearly doubled the size of the Border Patrol; 18,000 agents will be on the job by year’s end.
One of the most chilling examples of the trend was discovered this month when five agents working near San Diego found a metal wire strung taut between a section of double fence that runs along the border. The trap was designed to cut an agent’s throat.
The agents, who patrol between the fences on all-terrain vehicles at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour, were speeding along on the night of Feb. 9 when the lead agent spotted the neck-level wire.
“We get assaulted on a daily basis,” says J.J. Carrell, a supervisory Border Patrol agent who was in the group that night. “Between the rockings every day and them trying to decapitate us ‚Ķ I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Agent Shawn Moran, vice president of the local Border Patrol union in Imperial Beach, Calif., says the rockings are “like a biblical stoning. This is like what they used to do to kill people.”
The discovery of the wire followed last month’s death of an agent in Yuma, Ariz. Luis Aguilar of El Paso was run down and killed by a Hummer while laying spikes down in an effort to blow out the tires of smugglers entering the country illegally. Mexican authorities have arrested suspected drug smuggler Jesus Navarro Montes of Sonora.
Chertoff heads to Mexico today to talk with officials about border issues, including the violence. “We take these threats very seriously,” he said.

Really? Then, why has the Bush Administration now prosecuted at least three agents who tried to protect themselves?
Don’t hold your breath for the Mexicans to do anything to reduce violence against Border Patrol agents, or for Chertoff to make any meaningful demands. This trip is a formality designed to show Border agents that the Serpenthead, Chertoff, is doing something about this problem. But he isn’t.
It’s a nice free trip to Mexico, part of the swan song of Chertoff’s last year, where he gets to be feted by international leaders. A photo op. Nothing more.

The Bush “Persecute Border Patrol Agents” Doctrine Continues: Trial of Border Agent Began Today

By Debbie Schlussel
Remember Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, the Border Patrol agents who were prosecuted, then sent to federal prison for at least a decade, for defending themselves against a drug-dealing illegal alien criminal?
Welcome to the sequel.
Today, the trial of Border Patrol agent Nicholas Corbett began with jury selection. Corbett is charged in the fatal shooting, last year, of illegal alien Francisco Dominguez-Rivera. He says it was in self-defense, that Dominguez-Rivera and his illegal alien companions threw rocks at him. But if you are a Border Patrol or ICE Agent, there is a presumption of guilt against you today, many such agents tell me.
This is one of those cases:

illegalaliens.jpg

A U.S. Border Patrol agent went on trial on Tuesday in the killing of a Mexican man attempting to cross illegally into Arizona, a case closely watched by pro- and anti-illegal immigrant groups.
Jury selection began in U.S. District Court in Tucson, Ariz., to decide the fate of agent Nicholas Corbett, who faces second-degree murder charges for killing Francisco Dominguez Rivera in the southern Arizona desert.
Corbett, who has claimed through attorneys that he shot in self defense, is also charged with manslaughter and negligent homicide in connection with the January 12, 2007, incident.
Dominguez Rivera, 22, was fatally shot after crossing an isolated stretch of the border between Naco and Douglas with his two brothers and the girl friend of one of the brothers. Corbett said he shot after being threatened with a rock.
The incident drew an immediate rebuke by the Mexican government, with that country’s Foreign Ministry complaining of “disproportionate violence.” Diplomats at the Mexican Embassy in Washington called for a thorough investigation.
Jennifer Allen, executive director of Tucson-based Border Action Network, said the human-rights group plans a weeklong vigil in front of the courthouse.
“We’ll be there to send a message affirming that no one is above the law and calling for justice in this case,” said Allen, who added that the case underscores the need for better training for agents and oversight.
A Border Patrol spokesman in Tucson had no immediate comment.
A top border patrol union official said the case has been overblown by prosecutors and never should have reached trial. “We’re hopeful that justice will prevail and he is found innocent of all charges,” said T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council.

Aren’t you glad that the Bush Administration ruins members of our law enforcement’s lives on behalf of another government whose citizens are dumped on us?
So much for national sovereignty.
If every single action of Border Patrol (and ICE) agents is second-guessed in courts–with their lives on the line–who will want to take these thankless jobs?
Well, soon, Border Patrol and ICE agent will fall under the lines of work that President Bush characterized as “the work Americans just won’t do.”
Nicholas Corbett should be getting hazard pay, not his life on trial.
