Attention, Terrorists: In the Market for a TSA Uniform?

By
While TSA officials are making sure my tube of toothpaste doesn’t exceed 3 ounces, they apparently don’t care where official TSA uniforms end up.
Check out this letter to the editor from The Honolulu Advertiser:

TSA UNIFORM FOUND FOR SALE IN THRIFT STORE
I want to express my concern over an incident that occurred on July 3.
While I was browsing at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Kailua, I noted that a TSA uniform was on the rack for sale. The uniform was in good condition, complete with TSA patches and embroidery.

When I saw the uniform, my heart sank. Is there no policy about donating and reselling TSA uniforms? With all the strict security measures in place at airports, I was very disheartened to see that I could simply buy a TSA uniform for $2.50.
The same policies that pertain to the donation and resale of police uniforms should also apply to the TSA.
As I see it, the responsibility for this type of incident lies with both the TSA and the Salvation Army. The TSA needs to make sure that former employees return their uniforms. The Salvation Army needs to screen donations more carefully.
I would like to encourage both organizations to evaluate their policies in the interest of public safety.
Mary Ellen Zigli
Honolulu

Earth to TSA chief, Kip Hawley. . . . The dude is desperate–but not serious–when it comes to fighting terrorism.
Thanks to loyal Hawaiian reader and surfer KT for the tip.

Why Won’t ICE–& Tommy Lasorda’s Buddy–Tell Us . . .

By
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
. . . Where 27 hardened illegal alien criminals went, once they were released from prison?
Ask Carl Rusnok, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency spokesman, where incarcerated foreign aliens went, and you won’t get an answer. At least, Tulsa World didn’t.
Speaking for and her incompetent Detention and Removal Operations chief (and ) , Rusnok said it would be an “administrative burden” and “too time-consuming” to tell Tulsa World the whereabouts of the 27 “deportable immigrants recently released from Oklahoma prisons after serving time for crimes including first-degree rape, drug trafficking and lewd molestation.”

DHS’ Three Stooges: Immigration Consultant Tommy Lasorda,

ICE DRO Chief John Torres, Mikey “Serpenthead” Chertoff

(Thanks to Fred Taub of Boycott Watch for the excellent photoshop)

In general, when ICE likes to brag, nothing is too time-consuming. But, when it stonewalls, you can bet that the well-connected cronies and crony-atrixes running the agency are hiding something.
It’s a sure bet that ICE allowed at least some of the illegal aliens to be released from prison into the great abyss, can’t locate them, or both. And it’s a sure bet they weren’t deported. Tulsa World reports that Oklahoma prison officials say at least two of the alien criminals were NOT detained (taken into custody) by ICE officials, once released from prison. Even of those detained by ICE, althought we know the status of a few, we don’t know for sure if the rest have been incarcerated or released into the great abyss for deportation attempts at a later date.
Trust me, if ICE Detention and Removal Operations chief John Torres a/k/a “ICE’s own Costanza” has time to spend a week partying it up with the likes of Tommy Lasorda at a convention in Kansas City, then he has the time to tell Tulsa World where 27 dangerous illegal alien criminals are.
Likely, Torres doesn’t know, because he was too busy , to make sure all of those criminals were detained and deported by his DRO, once their sentences were up. They–or at least some of them–probably went free.
And to think, this man–Torres–wanted to be in charge of JPATS, which we know as “Con Air” for the entire U.S. Justice Department. They knew better than to give him the job over there, but over at DHS The ICE Princess promoted him.
We’re from the government and we’re here to help ourselves, er . . . you.
Thanks to Dan of Outraged Patriots for the tip.
**** UPDATE, 07/15/07: After reading some of the comments on this post, I want to make clear that nothing in this post was directed at the Detention and Removal Operations (DRO) agents and deportation officers on fugitive teams, who generally work very hard and risk their lives every single day going to illegal aliens’ homes to round them up. I know quite a few of them, and I’m glad that they are in their jobs, which get little glory and are not easy or glamorous. Their work is very important, and I respect them a great deal.
They must work within strict budget confines, pursuant to which they do not have enough bedspace to house all the illegal aliens they round up. The reason for that is due, in large part, to financial mismanagement and outright waste and fraud committed by John Torres and his boss, The ICE Princess. They’ve deliberately wasted millions in ICE and DRO money for things other than alien round-up and detention, like , , etc., etc., etc. I’ve detailed so much of it on this site.
This post was only meant to point out the incompetence, evasion, money-wasting, and poor job of their boss, John Torres, who actually doesn’t have any DRO experience (unless you count detaining and removing ICE positions from qualified applicants and reserving them for his extramarital girlfriends and cronies). Torres was an INS agent involved in investigations, and not very good at it, which is why he was not picked by Marcy Forman-Friedman a/k/a to become a Special Agent in Charge (as was rumored he would be in New York). Torres is at fault for the over 600,000 aliens ordered deported, whom we now cannot locate. He is a poor manager and does not do his job. As a result, America’s national security has been jeopardized, and we have him to blame for crimes these aliens commit against Americans.

Robert Mustaq John: Many Thanks to My Readers, But “Justice” Waits for Another Day; WHAT YOU CAN DO

By
To the many friends and readers who sent me notes of support in response to my from yesterday, regarding my ordeal with–and Victim Impact Statement for the sentencing of–Robert Mustaq John, thank you. Your letters, support, and kind words humble me, cheer me up, and give me strenght in my fight. It is good to know that there are plenty of us all over America who want to take our country back before it is beyond reclamation.
So what happened yesterday? Did Robert Mustaq John get any sort of justice after almost four years of FBI and Justice Department recalcitrance? The answer is no. In fact, Mr. John and his lawyer didn’t even bother to show up. This is not the first time this has happened. In fact, it is the THIRD time in this case that this happened.

And, yet, instead of issuing a Bench Warrant for the arrest of Mr. John, Magistrate Joan Azrack showed lenience for Mr. John. First, his attorney claimed that he did not get notice of the sentencing. Not true, as U.S. Dept. of Justice attorney Jeffrey Blumberg notified him well in advance. Then, the attorney told one of the Magistrate’s clerks that he felt really bad and had a stomach ache. Gee, if he didn’t get notice, why did he have an excuse on the ready? Still, Magistrate Azrack said that it was not the Defendant, Mr. John’s fault that he didn’t show up, so she postponed the Sentencing Hearing to a later date.
This is the circus of our federal court system that does not take the enemy within seriously at all. They get all the breaks, all the benefits of the doubt.
Since I took great expense to come to Brooklyn, New York to deliver my statement, I had to deliver it to an empty coutroom, with just the Magistrate and a few observers. I’m sure that when Mr. John eventually shows up in court–if he ever does–he will tell the Magistrate how he didn’t mean anything by his death threat to me, that he’s so sorry, etc. I hope she doesn’t believe it.
Until then, “justice” for me–almost four years later–has not yet been (and may never be) served.
There is a different standard of justice in America for the so-called “Religion of Peace,” versus that rendered for the rest of us–the infidels–in America.
Four years later, I wait for even a modicum of punishment for this Muslim alien human vessel of hate. As G-d is my witness, I will not give up.
And there is something you can do to help:
Please write the Honorable Joan Azrack, urging her to sentence Robert Mustaq John to the maximum possible sentence of a year in prison. Send your snail-mail, referencing United States of America v. Robert Mustaq John, Case No. Docket No. 06-CR-854, letters to:
The Honorable Joan M. Azrack
United States Magistrate Judge
U. S. District Court
Eastern District of New York

Where I Am Today & What I’m Saying: Sentencing of Robert Mustaq John, Muslim Alien Hate Crime Perpetrator

By
Today, I am in Brooklyn at U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, delivering my Victim Impact Statement at the sentencing of Robert Mustaq John, who sent me photos of Daniel Pearl in mid-beheading and telling me–“JEWgirl”–that I would be next. Here is the text of my statement:

Deborah K. Schlussel

May 18, 2007
The Honorable Joan M. Azrack
United States Magistrate Judge
Eastern District of New York
225 Cadman Plaza East
Brooklyn, New York 11201

RE: Victim Impact Statement
United States v. Robert Mustaq John
Docket No. 06-CR-854
Dear Magistrate Azrack:
I am writing this in the hope that you will take this into account when you sentence Robert Mustaq John for sending me death threats to my e-mail address. I would like you to know how I have been negatively impacted and affected by Mr. John’s actions. I am his victim and the object of his hate, Debbie Schlussel.
When I first opened the e-mail from Mr. John, I was shocked, outraged, and very afraid for my personal safety and that of my family members. That has not changed, to date. Mr. John’s e-mail featured the subject line, “JEWgirl, you might be next.” It featured photos of the late Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl in various states–with a gun to his head and in mid-beheading with blood gushing over his chest from his neck being sliced. Above it, in big, blood-red capital letters, Robert Mustaq John‚Äôs e-mail screamed: “KILL ALL KIKES.”
As I am sure Robert John is aware, Daniel Pearl was assassinated by Al-Qaeda because he was a Jew and an American. Not only was he beheaded, but when they found his body, it was cut up into ten pieces like a slaughtered chicken. This is what Robert John wanted me to fear. And he has succeeded in spades.
For almost four years, I have had horrible nightmares of having my residence broken into by the likes of Mr. John. I have woken up just as my mind was dreaming of masked men pulling out swords and getting ready to behead me–just like on the Al-Qaeda video of Daniel Pearl’s murder–and just like in the pictures in the e-mail Mr. John sent me. That is a dream that haunts me now, constantly, since I’ve received Robert John’s e-mail.
I have never met with nor have I ever had any contact with Mr. John, other than being the victim and recipient of his anti-Semitic, bigoted death threats and hate. I never asked him to contact me, and I most certainly wish he had not. It would have saved me almost four years–so far–of nightmares and distress. Four years of headaches and anguish.
I am in a constant state of fear. My residence, which has several windows, has the shades drawn, day and night. I never get to see the sun shine in because I am afraid of snipers shooting at me. I constantly leave through back and side doors and time-consuming alternate routes and am constantly looking all around me on the rare occasions that I travel in and out of my residence. It is, as I said, a constant state of fear and hyper-awareness. And I have to limit my trips outside because I never know when someone like Mr. John or one of his associates will be looking for me. Any noise, any slight abnormal sound in the middle of the night keeps me up indefinitely because I never know if it is Mr. John or one of his friends, relatives, or allies. This will never change. Mr. John changed my life forever, for the worst.
I have had to tell my parents, including my father who is not well, about these threats, for their personal safety as they are frequently in my presence. My father is now very seriously ill. He was not in such a condition before I told him of Mr. John’s threats to my life and limb. Although there are many factors that contribute to our health, stress like that which Mr. John has caused my family has certainly contributed negatively to the health conditions of both of my parents.
My grandparents, survived the Holocaust and Nazi-occupied Europe. My mother is an immigrant from that life, who was born in Bergen Belsen Camp in Germany. My family thought they left that life of hatred and violence against Jews behind. But now, with Mr. John uninvitedly entering our lives, we see that Nazism didn’t die. It just took a new form and a new geographic location.
My experience with this whole disturbing episode that never ends has been extremely negative on the so-called “Justice” side, as well.
It is bad enough that I was a victim of Mr. John, but I was also victimized by the Justice Department. After I received Mr. John’s death threat, I immediately called the Detroit office of the FBI. Instead of a swift investigation, I was stonewalled and mocked by two FBI agents–Robert Ouellet, the Special Agent originally assigned to the case, and his supervisor, Bill Edwards. Both of them belittled the threat and threatened me. Agent Ouellet–on his initial phone call to me–told me that his daughter didn’t like the women at a Jewish sorority and that the Jewish sorority girls at the University of Michigan, where his daughter was a student, are spoiled, haughty, and obnoxious. I was not sure why his anti-Semitism–on top of Mr. John’s threat–was expressed when he was supposed to be investigating an anti-Semitic death threat against me. In the months thereafter, he was too busy writing a book on our tax dime to investigate Mr. John. He told me that he, as an FBI agent, gets death threat every day and hung up on me. His supervisor, Agent Edwards threatened me not to write about my mistreatment on my website. He told me that Mr. John didn’t really mean it, and that I should just forget about it and not pursue it. Gee, why didn’t that excuse work for John Dillinger? Mr. John only “didn’t really mean it” when he got caught and interviewed by federal agents. Agent Edwards told me it would be too difficult to indict Mr. John because then he’d have to pay to fly from New York to Detroit to be arraigned and Federal Marshals would have to accompany him. Not only was that a lie, but I–the victim–have been victimized again, as I am not a wealthy person, but paid to come here to pay tribute to this criminal with my presence to speak to you, Your Honor, at his sentencing.
Then, the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of Michigan, decided not to pursue the case because politically correct U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey Collins ad, later, Stephen Murphy–a current Bush nominee to the Federal Court of Appeals‚Äîdid not want to upset the Islamic community. Is this what our “Justice” Department has become–an instrument of political correctness at the hands of the religion of the hijackers, the religion of the murderous beheaders of Daniel Pearl? My case would have died in the great American abyss, but for the fact that I spoke out about it on my website and in media forums. If I did not have a voice, Mr. John would remain without a criminal indictment, without a criminal record. During the almost four years that I have waited for justice against Mr. John, I’ve watched an extremist imam, Hassan Qazwini, who is an open supporter of terrorism and proud friend of Hezbollah spiritual leader Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, get swift justice against two non-Muslim e-mailers who sent far more benign e-mails to him than that which Mr. John sent me. I read articles about how Mr. Qazwini’s e-mailers had their homes raided by the FBI–one of them was a quadriplegic veteran–while Mr. John has been treated with kid gloves.
I watched and waited in 2004 as the men were swiftly indicted and pled guilty, while I had to whine and cajole and complain to deaf ears, finally getting justice years later because I had the fortune of getting a new FBI agent and dedicated Justice Department attorney finally working on the case and pursuing it. But even then, I first had to endure 9 months of rude questioning from an incompetent Justice Department attorney, Lisa Krigsten, who did nothing on the case and harassed me along with Detroit’s U.S. Attorney’s Office, asking me about my writings and questions at public events, critical of the U.S. Attorney’s softness for extremist Muslims. Ms. Krigsten had an FBI agent call and repeatedly question and harass me about these things, which are completely unrelated to Mr. John’s death threats against me. When a new Justice Department civil rights attorney–a competent one–finally picked up the slack, he told me that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit was using up all of the Grand Jury time to prevent this case from moving forward. It is bad enough that lawyers had to fly in from Washington to pursue this case that a politically-motivated U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit would not.
Mr. John, I am told, is a Muslim foreign alien who is trying to obtain citizenship in the United States. He is Exhibit A that the so-called “Religion of Peace” is not so peaceful. We were told after the 9/11 attacks that those who committed them were “hijacking their religion,” that this is not Islam. But, in my experience, based on Mr. John’s actions, it seems that the religion is certainly populated by a disproportionate share of so-called “hijackers of a religion”–and far too many of them have one thing in common: their hatred for Jews and their desire to see them killed by Al-Qaeda, as Mr. John quite expressly wants to see happen to me. He sent me that e-mail specifically because he is a Muslim and specifically because I am a Jew, as evidenced by his words in the e-mail and on its subject line and the photos of a well-known Jew being executed by beheading by the most well-known terrorist group.
Mr. John got my e-mail address either from my well-read website or from a New York Post column I wrote at the time. It was my public address. He wrote me to silence me, to get me to stop writing about Islamic terrorists and thugs like himself, who want to take away our First Amendment rights. It will not work. But since he has certainly instilled fear in me for the safety of myself and my friends and family, he has achieved part of his goal. He may have never contributed to funds for terrorism or planned a bombing, but his e-mail to me was a different kind of terrorism. And we cannot tolerate it here in the United States of America.
Your Honor, Mr. John is not the type of citizen we want or need in the United States. He needs to be sent a message, as do all Muslims in our country and around the world: Third World bigotry and anti-Semitism is not acceptable on American soil. Islamic barbarism, like the beheading and dissection of Daniel Pearl–a human being, is not something to be cheered on and celebrated in our country. It is something to be condemned and punished to the fullest extent of the law. It is bad enough that he was allowed to plead to only a Misdemeanor, while the benign e-mailers to the Muslim extremist leader in Detroit are now convicted felons. I guess when you are a Jew and the perpetrator is a Muslim, equal punishment does not exist for the same crime. Now that he has pleaded to a Misdemeanor, please don’t let Mr. John get off completely without a harsh punishment to fit his crime and the harm it has caused me and my family.
Today, I hope you send a message to Robert Mustaq John, to his co-religionists, to the murderers of Daniel Pearl, to all who will learn of this case that you strongly condemn his actions by sending him to prison and doing whatever is necessary so that our authorities at Citizenship and Immigration Services, at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and at the Executive Office of Immigration Review will all know that Mr. John is not the type of potential citizen who should be welcomed and remain free on American soil. Mr. John’s continued freedom makes the rest of America–especially “JEWgirls” and “KIKES” like me–extremely unsafe. With me, it was an e-mail he sent, with someone else, he may carry out his threats.
Thank you for your time in reading this statement and considering my plight. I hope you will sentence Robert Mustaq John to at least a year in prison, if not a much harsher punishment.
Sincerely,
/s/
Deborah K. Schlussel

Double Standard: My “Justice” vs. Justice for Muslims in America

By
On September 18, 2003, The New York Post ran my column about a planned FBI award to Imad Hamad.
Hamad was identified by the U.S. government as a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and called TV programs which teach children to become homicide bombers “patriotic.” FBI officials disclosed that he was the source of over a dozen terrorist- and immigration-related investigations. The FBI planned to honor Hamad along with a flight attendant who died on 9/11. (As a result of the column, the FBI revoked the award.)
Three days after the column appeared, I received an e-mail from Robert Mustaq John, a Brooklyn resident and Muslim from the Caribbean. The e-mail contained photos of journalist Daniel Pearl in mid-beheading, along with “KILL ALL KIKES” in giant, blood-red capital letters. The subject line, addressed to me, was: “JEWgirl, u might be next. LOL.”

I immediately contacted the FBI, and yet, almost four years later, Mr. John–a foreign alien who is trying to obtain U.S. citizenship–is only being sentenced today. Why? The U.S. Department of Justice maintains a double standard regarding Muslim and non-Muslim victims of hate crimes. And, almost six years, since 9/11, we still do not take Muslim extremists seriously as a national security threat.
During the years since Mr. John first threatened my life, I repeatedly pleaded with the FBI, the Justice Department, and the Detroit-area U.S. Attorney’s office to do something about Mr. John. I was met with excuses and silence. I was told by an FBI supervisor, Bill Edwards, that Mr. John didn’t really mean and that I should just forget about it. He told me that it would be too much trouble for Mr. John if the government pursued a case against him. This Muslim extremist who threatened my life would have to pay to fly from New York to Detroit to face charges, and the FBI didn’t want to trouble him. (Looking back on it, the FBI’s reluctance is curious, since Muslims from the same part of the world residing in the New York area planned to blow up JFK airport. )
Meanwhile, I watched as FBI agents and federal prosecutors immediately indicted two New York men who sent e-mails to pro-Hezbollah Muslim imam in Dearborn, just after videos of Nicholas Berg’s beheading were released. The e-mails, sent a full year after I received mine, were immediately investigated, and both senders–non-Muslims–were indicted for multiple felonies within a few months of sending them. One of the men, Michael Bratisax, a quadriplegic U.S. Veteran in a wheelchair, wrote only, “I pray to get the opportunity to kill a Muslim.” FBI agents raided his New York home at 6:00 a.m. and arrested him. He has since pleaded guilty and prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit demanded a year of prison for him. He was ordered to produce a website preaching tolerance and understanding. While both of those men were prosecuted for felonies, Mr. John was only indicted and allowed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor. That means that he will not be disqualified from further pursuing U.S. citizenship. (And unlike the non-Muslims who were prosecuted for e-mailing Muslims, I had to fly to New York to speak at his sentencing. The Justice Department didn’t want to trouble him.)
I asked why my case was not being thusly pursued, while FBI agents from two offices and Justice Department lawyers from Detroit and Washington were involved in the case against the Muslim imam. I learned that, after 9/11, the Justice Department established a special section of its civil rights office concentrating a lot of manpower only on hate crimes against Muslims, Arabs, and Asians. They get a separate, more swift version of justice than the rest of us. There is even a Justice Department “Special Counsel on the Post-9/11 Discriminatory Backlash”–Joseph Zogby. If his name sounds familiar, that’s because his father is James Zogby, head the Arab American Institute, which openly supports HAMAS and Hezbollah.
Then, there is the issue of U.S. Attorneys who don’t want to politically valuable Muslim communities by prosecuting any of their members.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Detroit recused itself from handling any cases concerning me because I have criticized the office in columns in the New York Post. Headed by U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy III, the office has declined to prosecute a single Muslim hate crime perpetrator since 9/11. In the heart of Islamic America, a Syracuse University study found that Murphy has the worst record in America for prosecuting terrorists. Among all U.S. Attorneys, he declines the highest percentage of terrorist cases referred to him for prosecution by the FBI. That jibes with his 2005 comment at an extremist mosque, joking that he doesn’t understand why Hezbollah is on the State Department terrorist list when all the group does is provide hospitals and take care of orphanages.
President Bush nominated Murphy to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the politically ambitious Murphy doesn’t want to upset the Muslim political base he’s courted. He’s very tight with FBI-award revokee Hamad. And despite multiple threats from two Detroit area Muslims, promising to rape, torture, and kill me and my family, Murphy refuses to prosecute them, as does the Justice Department. One of the two, Lola Elzein, was an officer in the Muslim-dominated Arab American PAC and prominent member of another Muslim group with which Murphy frequently breaks bread.
I am glad that Robert Mustaq John was finally prosecuted. But the fact that justice takes so long for hate crimes committed by Muslims is illuminating. Almost 6 years after 9/11, America is not serious about fighting terrorism and Islamist hate on our shores.
The only thing we are serious about is fighting FOR the enemies on our shores.

“Young Muslims Speak Out”

By
The front page of today’s Detroit Newsistan is populated largely by an propaganda article called, “Young Muslims Speak Out.” I’m not sure why that’s front-page or even headline news. Muslims of all ages are constantly whining, er . . . speaking out. As we all know, they–not 3,000 murdered Americans–are the true victims of 9/11.
What’s interesting about the article is that it quotes , a Muslim nurse (actually the Muslim Nurse Ratched) and professional propagandist, talking about how Muslims more firmly identify with America, even though surveys and polls, like Pew, show they do not:

I really think it is an issue of comfort in America, of American identity.

What I find most interesting about the quote is that her true feelings are otherwise. As , Ms. Bazzy told a :

Najah Bazzy

I’m embarrassed to be an American.

We’re embarrassed you are, too.
In fact, Ms. Bazzy was the head Muslim cultural nurse at a hospital that helped give fraudulently obtained Medicaid to cover the deliveries of pregnant Muslim aliens (who then got U.S. citizenship for their kids). Bazzy is suspected of being a big part of the illegal plot. And Bazzy’s family is a well-known group of Hezbollah supporters–and in Lebanon, Hezbollah operatives.
So, I’m always interested when I hear or read her pretending to be a proud American. I believed what she told CAIR. And I doubt that’s changed.

Man Tries to Smuggle Gun on Plane: Guess the Religion #2

By
Time for the second installment, today, of “Guess the Religion.”
Ahmad Abdallah Abu Ghanam tried to smuggle a gun wrapped in aluminum foil and a towel in his checked luggage on a plane from Florida to Chicago. He was to fly from there to Jordan (which means he’s most likely Palestinian, as most Jordanians are). The serial number was scratched off the gun, and he did not declare the gun, pursuant to the law.

International Drug Ring: Guess the Religion

By
Time for another edition of “Guess the Religion.”
At least 37 people involved in an international drug ring (in which drugs–and who knows what else–were smuggled between Michigan and Canada) were arrested. The ring leader–who owns two Detroit nightclubs–is Ahmad Abboud.
Guess the religion (it’s the Detroit Newsistan, so they won’t tell you):

Drug and border officials from the United States and Canada said Tuesday they have shut down a drug route that used row boats to move large volumes of cocaine and marijuana into Michigan from St. Joseph Island, Ontario, south of Sault Ste. Marie.

Traffickers were using the boats at night to move drugs across the St. Mary’s River into the Upper Peninsula south of Sault Ste. Marie, officials said. . . .
U.S. officials have arrested 13 people and seized about 1,000 pounds of marijuana, 41 kilograms of cocaine and $350,000 in cash. . . .
In Canada, officials have arrested 24 people and seized 1,000 pounds of marijuana, one kilogram of cocaine and more than $500,000 in cash, said Staff Supt. Richard Gauthier of the Toronto Police Service.
Charged in U.S. District Court in Detroit with conspiracy to import marijuana and named as an alleged ringleader is Ahmad Abboud, 29, of Sterling Heights. . . .
Officials said key figures in the alleged conspiracy amassed significant wealth, and Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman Rich Isaacson said Ahmad Abboud has an ownership interest in the Plan B and Confidential nightclubs in downtown Detroit. . . . .
The marijuana, grown in hydroponic labs in British Columbia, Canada, had a potency about 10 times that of regular street-grade marijuana.

Saudis, Palestinians Shut Down Counterterrorism Film in Hollywood

By
If you’re an un-PC filmmaker in Hollywood (all one of you), make sure the studio behind your film doesn’t get an infusion of Saudi money or corrupt Palestinian cash.
Otherwise, your film might be “martyred” for the “struggle.”
Take the movie, “Dove Hunting.” The New York Post’s Cindy Adams reports that the movie was killed by Saudi and Palestinian investors who infused the studio with cash and didn’t like the counter-terrorism premise of the movie (glad to hear the Saudis and Palestinians are openly admitting they condone terrorism). And GE–that’s right, General Electric–is in bed with them:

A new movie company called the Film Department has just been born. Its CEO is Mark Gill, for mer Miramax and Warner Independent exec who masterminded “March of the Penguins.” Two of its board members are Sheik Waleed Al Ibrahim and Zeid Masri.
The Saudi Arabian sheik runs stations that are mouthpieces for the Saudis. Like for instance, Al Arabiya news network, which is not known to be pro-U.S.
Zeid Masri runs the McLean, Va., operation SilverHaze, which has in the past secretly invested Palestine Liberation Organization money through front companies. His SilverHaze caused the Bowlmor scandal [DS: Masri/SilverHaze invested Yasser Arafat’s pilfered millions in the New York bowling alley.] . . .
Now, while the Palestinian people are starving, SilverHaze is dabbling in stateside entertainment.
This all came to light when a development deal with Mark Gill was suddenly axed. “Dove Hunting,” an action film/love story about two agents trying to stop a terrorist attack, had a go in December 2006. In March 2007, it was full speed ahead pending financing of this new studio. Came financing of this new studio and, with it, six weeks ago, an e-mail trail that canceled the project. Seems some of the fledgling studio’s backers were not pleased with the subject. . . .
One of the underwriters of this infant movie production operation is GE, the solid gold, 18-karat American company that brought us the 9/11 saga “United 93.” Are they aware of the past associations and involvements of some who sit on The Film Department’s board?

Amen, Cindy Adams. If you are a GE stockholder or customer, please contact the company and ask why it is in bed with Saudi and Palestinian tools for terror.

Mid-Week Box Office: Latest Harry Potter Flick

By
I’ve never read a Harry Potter book and have never seen any of the movies based on them. So when I walked into the screening of the latest silver screen installment, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” I was almost completely ignorant about this passion of so many kids and even many adults. Given that, please forgive me if I get some of the Harry Potter jargon wrong.
Since, as I’ve said, I’ve not seen the other Harry Potter films, I can’t compare them with this one, in theaters today. That said, I found the movie to be both charming and banal. I liked the magnificent sets, wardrobe, and special effects (though a few computer-generated images were obvious). It’s great for kids, but at almost 2.5 hours, I wonder how they sit through it. A long book (900 pages) equals a long movie.

Here’s the plot: Harry must defend himself against using his powers against evil in front of “Muggles” (mere mortal humans without powers). Upon returning to wizard school, an evil woman, Umbridge, manages to take it over from Lord Dumbeldor. She is against teaching the kids how to fight the evil Lord Voldemort, teaching them theory instead of practice. Harry and the kids must fight to depose her and face off with Voldemort.
As I said, very charming and great for kids, but at the same time, also very banal and long. One caveat: I thought it was a little scary for younger kids. But I guess if they’ve already read the book, they’re prepared.
Overall, recommended.
