Mitt Happens: Great Omen for a Romney Presidency

By
Is Jay Garrity an indication of the kind of people that a President Mitt Romney would bring to the White House?
Garrity, the Operations Director of the Romney campaign, took a “leave of absence” Friday, after he became the subject of investigations in two states for impersonating a police officer in two different states:

The Globe reported today that Jay Garrity is the primary target in a State Police investigation into a May 13 call to a Wilmington drain and sewer cleaning business, in which a caller complained about the erratic driving of a company van.

During the phone call, a recording of which was made by the answering service and obtained by the Globe, a man calling himself “Trooper Garrity of the Massachusetts State Police” threatens to cite the driver he says he saw speeding and cutting off cars in the Ted Williams Tunnel.
Also this week, the New Hampshire attorney general’s office opened an investigation into a charge that a Romney campaign aide — identified as Garrity — pulled over a reporter following a campaign vehicle and claimed to have run his license.
“He has taken a leave of absence from the campaign in order to address these complaints,” said Kevin Madden, spokesman for the Romney campaign.

Why wasn’t he immediately fired? When one of your top guys is violating the law in a very serious way, it doesn’t say much about your ability to pick top people, especially should you reach the White House.
So, now we now that not only is Romney a liberal, a and so many other issues), an (during the Olympics), but he’s also a very poor judge of character.
Very low-grade White House timber.
Mitt Happens. . . but hopefully not to the White House.

Magnanimity Nation: Take That, Brad Pitt, Bono & Angelina Jolie!

By
If you’re like me, you’re tired of hearing the constant whine of millionaire celebs Mr. Angelina Jolie (Brad Pitt), Bono, and Angelina Jolie, herself, telling America and Americans that we’re not generous enough.
An example is Brad Pitt’s , where he bemoaned that foreign aid and aid to the poor is only less than 1% of the federal budget. Bono–who is exempt from paying taxes as an “artist” in his native Ireland and who (no lie!)–also frequently claims Americans don’t give enough to the poor.

But guess what? They have no clue what they are talking about. Figures out today show that Americans are not only the most generous people on earth and America the most generous nation, but we are also constantly topping our record magnanimity. The Giving USA foundaiton at Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy documents the following:

* Americans gave nearly $295 Billion to charity, last year (2006).
* Americans set a record for donating to charity for at least the second year in a row, with $283.05 Billion given in 2005.
* Americans gave more than twice as much as the next most charitable nation (Britain, which gave 0.73% of its GDP to charity).
* Americans gave 1.7% of our Gross Domestic Product to charity.
* While some of the money donated came from foundations and charities, individual American donors gave a combined 75.6% of the total.
* Even households considered middle-class and lower contributed a lot to charity, with 65% of American households with incomes under $100,000 giving to charity.

The next time you hear Brad Pitt, her husband Angelina Jolie, or pop star Bono excoriating us stingy Americans, lump it in with the rest of the ignorant falsehoods emanating out of La-La Land. While frothy entertainment industry humanitarian dillettantes lie, the numbers don’t:
We are not only the greatest country on earth, we are also the most generous.

Who’s Your Daddy?: Studies Reveals Details About Mormons, British Paternity/Fidelity

By
A frequent Montel, Maury, and Jerry Springer topic is now under an academic microscope.
Atlantic Monthly’s July/August issue (I guess in this case it’s Atlantic Bi-Monthly) reveals that 5% to 15% of the men listed as fathers on birth certificates aren’t the biological fathers of their children. More and more fathers and children are learning this, as genetic testing becomes more common.
Writer Steve Olson reports that in Salt Lake City–where the Mormon Chruch is dominant–a sample of father-son pairs among 100,000 volunteers revealed that only 2% of those listed as fathers are not the real fathers of their sons.

On the other hand, a British town found that around 30% of the towns husbands were not the fathers of those whom thought were their children and were born to their wives or girlfriends.
Why is this important? Well, for one thing, child support. Paternity fraud happens more than people realizes. And men who are not the fathers of children end up paying support through the nose. In many states, if you begin paying child support and later find out you are not the father, you are stuck until the child is 18–and in some cases, until the child is 21 or for total college expenses.
That’s quite a reward for infidelity on the part of a spouse.

UPDATE: H-1B Avoidance Law Firm Engages in CYA; Under Investigation?; Even Socialist Senator Decries H-1B Fraud

By
Last week, I showed you , a lawyer and Vice President/Director of Pittsburgh’s Cohen & Grigsby law firm, for various jobs.
The video–released by the Programmers’ Guild–was in stark contrast to the constant whining by employers (and their friends at the Wall Street Journal editorial page) that there aren’t enough skilled Americans to fill various jobs, from the high tech industry to construction. Their drumbeat to increase the number of H-1b visas is getting louder. But the video was yet more proof that clearly there are skilled Americans who want these jobs, but employers want to get around hiring and paying them standard market wages.

Well, now the video has reached lawmakers. USA Today reports that both U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) have called for the Labor Department to investigate the law firm. Given that Labor is under the hegemony of open borders/cheap labor advocate Elaine Chao and her Bush Admin bosses, we’ll see if the investigation and any meaningful punishment actually happens.
But in the meantime, any one of you–dear readers–can file a grievance with the State Bar and attorney grievance commission of Pennsylvania against Leibowitz and his firm. Leibowitz’s law firm released a statement regretting Leibowitz’s “choice of words.” No, the only thing he and his firm regret is getting caught trying to get around America’s labor laws in exchange for the big bucks of their employer clients. And now, they are trying to cover their asses.
Even socialist Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont agrees with conservative Republicans like Senator Grassley and me that there really isn’t the lack of qualified, skilled American workers that employers, wishing to pay less in wages and benefits, claim:

Skeptics say increasing immigration is a way for employers to avoid increasing wages. “They want to defy the economic law of supply and demand,” [Senator Bernie] Sanders [IND-Vermont] said at a Capitol Hill news conference last week. “Instead of paying better wages and benefits, they want to import cheaper workers.”
In construction, where the Pew Hispanic Center estimates that about 14% of the jobs are occupied by illegal immigrants, wages have stagnated, said Ed Sullivan, president of the Building and Construction Trades workers’ union. He said the immigration bill’s guest-worker provisions would continue that trend.
Similar suspicions are shared by computer programmers and engineers. Ron Hira, a professor of public policy at the Rochester Institute of Technology, questions the need for more foreign workers when technology companies such as Dell, Motorola and IBM have recently announced layoffs.
“I don’t think there’s any indication of a broad shortage in IT (information technology) workers,” he said. “You’d see that show up in wage increases, and we haven’t seen wage increases.”

When the market sounds a loud message that we don’t need more H-1B immigrants, the Wall Street Journal and big business–which alway tout market solutions–are turning a deaf ear.
Why is this important? Well, the hundreds of thousands of temporary workers under the Immigration Amnesty Bill will be taking these jobs “that Americans just won’t do” away from Americans. And they will be doing so with open U.S. government sanction.
Since there’s much fraud now–with the help of lawyer Lebowitz and the Cohen & Grigsby law firm–imagine how much more there will be if this bill passes. And how many more Americans will lose their jobs to these aliens.

EXCLUSIVE: Dearbornistan’s Muslim Community Police Officer Fired; Under Investigation by Feds, Local Prosecutors

By
**** EXCLUSIVE: Must cite Debbie Schlussel and (How long ’til this is cribbed by Detroit Free Press’ resident Islamist Niraj Warikoo & Detroit Newsistan resident Dhimmi Gregg Krupa? Taking Bets.) ****
I learned, yesterday, that Dearbornistan’s most corrupt, pro-Hezbollah police officer, , was fired and is under investigation by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office.

As I’ve previously written, after 9/11, Saab was held out by the national and international mainstream media to be a model of police outreach and interaction with the Muslim Community. And it appears he truly is a model of Muslim policing: Saab–a Shi-ite Muslim of Lebanese descent and an open Hezbollah supporter–was found guilty of criminally stalking a State Senator, George Hart. Saab’s testimony about his whereabouts on certain dates in his case and other reports in the past indicate that Saab was also likely involved in the fire-bombing of Dearborn City Councilman Doug Thomas’ car. Thomas has been an outspoken critic of Islamist extortion in the City, including in a post-9/11 appearance on CBS’ “60 Minutes.” This past summer, sources say Saab had a giant Hezbollah poster up at his community policing office in the Dearborn Public Library.
But, incredibly, none of these things–because they were all against non-Muslims– were enough to get Saab fired from the Dearborn police force, even though he has a reputation as a thug and as one of the most corrupt members of the Dearborn police force, which has many fine, upstanding officers. And Saab was protected by late Dearborn Mayor Michael Guido, who allegedly received pay-offs from Deaborn’s pro-Hezbollah Shi’ite Muslim community (and some Sunnis, as well).
But now Saab is under investigation for a series of newer alleged crimes and malfeasance. All of the new allegations–that resulted in Saab’s firing–involve alleged crimes and wrongdoing by him against other Muslim Arabs. Saab’s previous crimes and nefarious activities did not count because they were against Infidels. Various Dearborn residents said that the FBI refused to get involved after repeated complaints about Saab and the Mayor Guido Administration over the past several years.
But now, new Dearborn Mayor John O’Reilly–who apparently knew of this activity all along and did nothing–was put in a spot. Sources say he was aware of Mayor Guido’s and Officer Daniel Saab’s nefarious activities. The recent court filings of a concerned Dearborn citizen put O’Reilly, a licensed Michigan attorney and Officer of the Court, in a position where he could be implicated, and he chose to, therefore, fire Daniel Saab. But the new Mayor is far from innocent, Dearborn residents say, and his CYA act may not work. It is a case of too little, too late.
There is so much more to this story. But just the basics for now. Stay tuned. Much More on Monday.

Religion of Marriage Fraud: U.S. Attorney, ICE Agent in Charge Look the Other Way on Immigration Fraud

By
Thousands and thousands of Muslims have been engaging in marriage fraud by entering sham marriages with equally abhorrent, sleazy American women in order to get green cards.
Some are caught. Even fewer are prosecuted. But mostly Immigration and Customs Enforcement honchos have directed agents to look the other way and concentrate on other issues, instead. Don’t look for that to change under the Z-Visa Bonanza of instant citizenship under the immigration amnesty bill. In fact, those who hold Z-Visa will now have their own opportunities to whore themselves out to sham marriages for more instant citizenships.

ICE SAIC Brian Moskowitz, U.S. Atty Stephen Murphy

Pal Around w/Marriage Fraud Scammer Imad Hamad

The few exceptions are cases like that of Lebanese Muslim Ali Fouad Ayache, 25. He pleaded guilty in federal court in Detroit, yesterday, to marriage fraud, entering into a bogus marriage with U.S. citizen Kristy Ann Dugray (did anything happen to her for selling out America?). But the marriage was on November 22, 2002. That was almost five years ago, and he is only now facing justice.
Ayache’s case is one of the few piddling marriage fraud cases that Michigan/Ohio ICE Special Agent in Charge and have pursued. And I supposed they want a Mazel Tov (“Congratulations”) from me for actually doing their job once in a while, like a broken clock. Instead, they’ve both turned down and/or neglected serious marriage fraud cases in Michigan and looked the other way.
In addition, it’s hard to take either of them seriously, especially Abu Porno/Murphy, when he says, as he did in today’s Detroit Newsistan:

The notion that someone who commits fraud to get citizenship papers or a green card can then rest easy once the documents are issued is a false assumption.

Given the way both Murphy and Moskowitz continue to pander to and pal around with Sham Marriage Perpetrator and “former” Islamic terrorist, , I’d say it’s not a false assumption at all.
Mr. Hamad is quite comfortable as a citizen, now. And both Moskowitz and Murphy have had a few years now to charge him with marriage fraud and try to rescind his citizenship. They’re the only ones with authority to do so.
Instead, they’ve chosen to kiss his ass.
Make fun of the dresses he allegedly wore all you want, but you never saw J. Edgar Hoover playing pander bear to Al Capone.
And then there’s Ayache. He should have faced five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. But because Abu Porno/Stephen Murphy makes nice-nice with Islamists, terrorists, and assorted other Midwest malefactors from the Mid-East, he gave Ayache a plea deal where he only faces up to six months. Again, I’d say Murphy’s claim that resting easy after marriage fraud is a false assumption is in and of itself a false assumption . . . the the top Justice Department official is Stephen Murphy III/Abu Porno. And don’t forget Abu Porno is a Bush Federal Court of Appeals nominee. Some “War on Terror.” More like an insect urinating on a sidewalk.
Even worse, Ayache is to be sentenced on July 10th by Federal Judge George Caram Steeh, a judge who is quite militant about his Lebanese background. He has a history of being soft on Arab and Muslim defendants, including Ali and Mike Boumelhem, who were caught by then-U.S. Customs Service agents trying to smuggle arms to Canada and then Hezbollah.
Don’t look for the good fortune of the Mohammedans to change, this time around.

Housekeeping: Technical Issues

By
Over the last two weeks, we’ve been having a lot of technical problems with this site. That’s one of the reasons I’ve been slowed in putting up entries, the past couple of weeks.
A lot of you have complained about blank comments pages, the inability to access archives and other buttons atop this site, as well as entries and archives being cut off in the middle at the bottom of the page. The links have not always been working, and a full week’s entries have not been properly loading. It’s all tied to the same set of problems.
We’re very sorry about the problems, and we are working hard to resolve these issues, which bother me probably even more than you, over the weekend, as we switch to a new blog formatter/publishing system and try to upgrade and change the site. We are also re-designing it and putting in new features as we fix it. In the meantime, you can search on google for my name and the entries you are looking for.

Please note that we’ve moved the “Printer Friendly” function to the bottom of each entry. As you will also note, we’ve dropped the Trackbacks. We turned them off over a year ago as they were not working correctly and were constantly being spammed. That doesn’t mean that a lot of sites don’t trackback and link to this site. They do. At the time I write this, this site is the 1,391st most linked to site on the Internet over the last six months, according to Technorati which measures the over 90 million blogs on the Net. If you write about this site and want the readers to see your post, please make a comment, including the link.
The site should be back to complete function and speed, some time next week. Thanks to the many readers who’ve pointed out problems. And thanks for your patience and continued readership.

Weekend Box Office: Many Offerings, Nothing Good; Lotta Propaganda

By
There are several new offerings at the movie theaters, this weekend, but I didn’t particularly like any of them. Though I did like the Biblical echoes in the cheesy “Evan Almighty,” I disliked the heavy propaganda for socialized medicine and Islam in “Sicko” and “A Mighty Heart,” respectively:

* “Evan Almighty“: You don’t have to see the original, “Bruce Almighty,” which has little to do with this one to get this mostly sappy, cheesy movie. Steve Carell plays Evan Baxter, the weatherman from “Bruce Almighty,” who gets elected to Congress. He moves his family to the Washington area, where he is beseeched by G-d* (Morgan Freeman) to follow part of Genesis and build an ark in preparation for a massive flood. He soon grows long hair and a beard and become a modern day Noah, reclaiming his family from his former workaholic life. Evan also angers a high-powered, corrupt Congressman–in the hands of evil developers (always a lefty angle in these movies).
I really liked the Biblical Noah story replayed in this film, which follows the Genesis story very closely. But that doesn’t overcome the sappiness and cheesiness of this comedy that was largely unfunny. And, sorry, but I didn’t need to see the disrespectful scenes of G-d dancing. Thanks, but no thanks. Plus the movie co-stars the always annoying, never funny “comedienne” Wanda Sykes, the silver screen jump-the-shark icon. If the tired Ms. Sykes is in a movie, it’s a bad omen.
Finally, whoever wrote this didn’t do the tiniest bit of research about life as a Congressman and got all of the basics wrong. There is no such thing as “junior co-sponsoring” a bill. You’re either a co-sponsor or you’re not. No “juniors.” And Congressman’s parking spaces are in convenient spots in garages under their office buildings, not half a mile away on the other side of the Capitol. They even got the custom Congressional license plates wrong. Very lazy scriptwriters in a very corny movie. Still, you can take your kids to this one (if you don’t mind the blaspheming of G-d).
* “Sicko“: I watched this Michael Moore propaganda piece for socialized medicine, last weekend, over the internet. I know Moore’s people don’t mind, since they’ve told me so, and keep wanting to send me a screener of it, anyway. **** UPDATE, 06/28/07: ****

* “A Mighty Heart“: . This whitewash of Islam in the beheading/live dissection murder of Daniel Pearl is disgusting, boring, and stupid. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and fake-umentary director Michael Winterbottom deceptively blame Pearl’s murder on Guantanamo Bay (which was hardly an issue at the time of Pearl’s murder) and on the Wall Stree Journal sharing important terrorist computer files with the U.S. government. Gee, whatta surprise. Also, not surprising: CAIR, MPAC, Cafe Intifada, Amnesty International, and Doctors Without Borders . It’s their kind of movie, not ours. Again, .
* “1408“: Since the studios held the only screening of this at the same time as another only screening, I went–for you, dear readers–I went at 12:55 a.m., this morning to screen this at the only drive-in left in the Detroit Area, the Ford-Wyoming on the edge of Dearbornistan and a very scary, dangerous part of Detroit (that describes most of Detroit, actually).
The movie, based on a Stephen King short story, begins as an interesting, classic King flick about a horror fiction novelist like King who is skeptical of the occult and insists on staying in the mysterious room 1408 of New York’s fictional “Dolphin Hotel.” Every guest who’s stayed in the room–over 50 of them–has died within an hour of entering the room.
But although it starts out as engrossing, classic Stephen King, it gets carried away, overwrought, and silly. The great thing about other movies made from King’s writing is that they are mostly believable and you suspend your disbeliefs. Not the case with this one, once you get about a halfway through it. It gets to be too much and a jumbled mess with a million times you think it’s the ending or should be . . . but still isn’t. Mildly entertaining, but not King’s best. And not that scary. But I never realized that the late Karen Carpenter’s sweet voice singing, “We’ve Only Just Begun” could ever be that creepy in the context of this movie.

* “You Kill Me“: Ben Kingsley plays a Polish mob hitman from Buffalo whose alcoholism is harming his ability to snuff out people from the rival Irish mob. He’s sent by his mob boss to San Francisco to join Alcholics Anonymous and get sober. At a part-time job embalming bodies at a funeral home, he meets a PBS marketer (Tea Leoni), with whom he falls in love.
Sound stupid and hard to believe? Yup, it is. This movie was long, boring, depressing, and you don’t care a whit about the manic, annoying Leoni or this cold-blooded killer loser. It’s also a bit hard to believe Kingsley as a Pole from Buffalo, when his bizarre attempt the accent plus his British brogue makes him sound like a Scotsman. I understand the craze to do mob-themed films and hitch a ride on the success of “The Departed” and “The Sopranos.” But this doesn’t cut it. Tremendously skip-worthy.
* “September Dawn“: Although I dislike and extremely distrust flip-flop-flipper Mitt Romney, it has nothing to do with his membership in the Mormon Church. I think most Mormons are good people and loyal Americans of the best kind, though I’ve written extensively about how .
But you have to question the timing of this movie about the Mountain Meadow Massacre–the massacre perpetrated by Mormons on non-Mormon Christians in America on September 11, 1857. It was documented as a brutal murder of many Christians, except their kids who were too young to remember or become witnesses. Angelina Jolie’s pop, Jon Voight plays the Mormon leader who fomented the massacre, and the movie seems very one-sided, anti-Mormon, and unfairly designed to turn us against Mormons, today. The marketing of it, pushing the auspicious date, September 11th, is disgusting. Mormons are not terrorists. They’re generally good people who love America. Why aren’t there movies like this about Muslims? Hollywood would never dare.
And the long movie plays out like a Lifetime Movie of the Week, starring Mormons. Lots of melodrama, crying, and screaming throughout a Romeo and Juliet-style romance. Skip it.
* “The Golden Door” (“Nuovomondo”): This arthouse Italian-language comedy about immigrants traveling to America from Italy, presented by Martin Scorsese, was annoyingly unfunny and juvenile. Depressing, silly, and pointless, I walked out halfway through this two-hour ordeal, because I simply couldn’t take it anymore. Life is short, and I couldn’t afford to waste any more of mine on this. I looked forward to seeing this film, but was sorely disappointed. Added nothing to the body of work on the (legal) immigrant experience in America.
* Jews do not write the name of G-d in vain. Thus, the dash in the word.

Un”Mighty”: Muslims Heroes in Qaeda-less Jolie-Pitt Daniel Pearl “Lifetime”-esque Movie

By
[This review was , but Paramount Vantage–the studio–asked me to take it down until today, which they did not do for positive reviews like that from FOXNews.com’s very liberal Roger Friedman, who gushed over it. I repost it today, with the movie’s debut. Your comments from when it was originally posted can be . And please feel free to comment on this entry, too.]
I went to the screening of “A Mighty Heart“–activists Brad Pitt’s and Angelina Jolie’s movie on the Al-Qaeda murder of Daniel Pearl–expecting a movie with an agenda.

And that is exactly what I got. That, plus a Lifetime Channel weepy-damsel-in-distress movie of the week. Muslims are the heroes–NOT the perpetrators–in this “Can’t we all just get along?” kumbaya film ostensibly about terrorism.
As one would expect from the Jolie-Pitts, “A Mighty Heart” is mostly NOT about the Al-Qaeda murder of Daniel Pearl, killed in cold blood specifically because he was a Jew. In fact, the movie minimizes that, instead repeatedly blaming America for its treatment of Guantanamo Bay prisoners as the reason Pearl was cut into the ten pieces like a slaughtered chicken, the state in which his body was found. (That’s no surprise, given that the Jolie-Pitts hired as “A Mighty Heart’s” director, Michael Winterbottom, who also directed the propaganda fake-umentary, “The Road to Guantanamo.”) In “A Mighty Heart,” we see no depiction at all of Pearl’s captivity or even kidnapping by Qaeda thugs, but for a few re-enactments of tiny parts of the famous Pearl video.

Buh-Bye, Roseanne; Don’t Come Back

By
I, for one, am cheering the news that the anti-Semitic, bigoted Roseanne Barr a/k/a Roseanne is leaving the radio airwaves after three months.
I appeared on her radio show once in May to debate a Palestinian woman about Israel. It was not the Palestinian woman I had a problem with–even though everything she said was a complete lie (I expect that from their side).

It was Roseanne who was a huge problem. This woman is off the deep end. She’s clearly a racist and a eugenicist. She asked me how a blonde (I’m not a real blonde, though my mom and sister are), blue-eyed person like me could belong in Israel. Uh, I’m an American. She didn’t seem to care that over 70% of Israeli Jews look like Arabs because they and their families are either refugees of Arab and Muslim countries or descendants of Jews who’ve lived in Israel for thousands of years. She was obsessed with hair and eye color and skin tone, which is interesting since Queen Noor of Jordan a/k/a Lisa Halaby is a real blonde with blue eyes. Ditto for plenty of Syrians, Lebanese, Libyans, etc. But strangely, those don’t seem to set off her Roseanne Eugenics Meter.
Every comment by Roseanne and her completely obnoxious, hateful boyfriend, Johnny Argent, was blatantly anti-Semitic. They said how pathetic Jews are and how we have a depressing religion and life and asked what kind of religion calls their most holy site, “the Wailing Wall.” Reality check: It’s called the WESTERN Wall (as translated from it’s proper Hebrew name, “HaKotel HaMa’aravi.” The “Wailing Wall” is a name invented by ignorant anti-Semites like Roseanne and her boyfriend to mock Jews and their prayers at the Western Wall.
There were constant rants about “Zionists” from Roseanne and her boyfriend. You know what that means. Then, they proceeded to fight with each other and say that all Jews and rabbis do is fight with each other, so there will never be peace. Uh, hello, checked out Iraq or the Palestinian territories, lately? Her questions were moronic: “Tell me something new that I haven’t heard about Israel.” How the heck would I know what she hasn’t heard about Israel? It was like being on a show with self-styled Aryan 3-year-olds fighting each other in a sandbox.
Oh, and one other thing: Roseanne was raised as both a Mormon (she’s bigoted against Mormons, too, whom she calls “the Nazi Amish”) and a Jew by her Jewish parents in Salt Lake City. And who can forget her famous National Anthem rendition before a Major League Baseball game–a complete disgrace. No wonder Tom Arnold left her. Must we Jews claim her?
Good riddance from the airwaves, Roseanne. Don’t come back. Please.
