So Sad, Too Bad: Hezbollah Money-Laundering Restaurant Chain in Michigan Loses Money

By Debbie Schlussel
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
The Detroit Newsistan is shedding tears for “La Shish”, the restaurant chain still owned and open for business by indicted Hezbollah financier and federal fugitive Talal Chahine. (He’s also the father of Khalil Chahine, convicted honor-murderer of a Christian Arab who was engaged to a Muslim woman.)
Chahine allegedly gave Hezbollah and its “charities” $20 million in money he laundered and concealed–and “forgot” to pay federal income taxes on. Why is he a fugitive? Because U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy III a/k/a “Abu Porno” (a Bush federal judicial nominee) gave him all kinds of hints that he’d be indicted and then allowed him to flee the country.

Even though he funded “children of the martyrs,” The Detroit Newsistan is sad that La Shish is losing money and customers. The paper should be asking why the heck the restaurant is still open for business and its assets have NOT been frozen, including money which is still going to Chahine in Lebanon, to finance his luxe lifestyle. Ask Abu Porno, who was never serious about going after Chahine.
And the paper is upset for two men that bought La Shish franchises are losing money, too. Why be sad for them? Both are Muslims who knew–like the rest of us–the open secret that has been common knowledge for years: that Chahine was funding Hezbollah. And even if they were blind, deaf, and dumb to that and the other criminal activity (murder, drug-dealing) for which members of the Chahine family were convicted, I still can’t feel sorry for them.
One of the franchise owners is named Charlie Bazzi. But the Bazzi family are Lebanese Shi’ite Muslims who strongly support Hezbollah. Will Bazzi, who owns the Ann Arbor La Shish, publicly denounce Hezbollah by name? Doubtful.
Ditto for the other franchisee, Samir Saleh, who is changing the name of his West Bloomfield La Shish restaurant to Mezza Mediterranean Grill. He wanted to buy the entire La Shish chain from Chahine and was on the phone with the fugitive in Lebanon. Does it not bother him that he was trying to do a big business deal with a terrorist financier?

Talal Chahine: Hezbollah’s American Financier Allowed to Flee U.S.

Of course, not. The only reason the deal didn’t go through is that the Feds won’t remove liens they’ve placed on the ongoing business.
My recommendation: Be happy La Shish is losing money and customers. But be sad that it’s still open for business, and that Abu Porno allowed Chahine to flee the country. Don’t eat there. And don’t eat at the franchises owned by those who seem all too sympathetic to him.
Hard to feel sympathy for them. Just outrage at their indifference.
**** UPDATE, 01/06/07, 6:23 p.m.: Many readers have asked me about which Middle Eastern restaurants or other Arab-owned establishments I recommend. It has long been my position that, given these are all-cash establishments, you should seek out Christian-owned Mid-East restaurants.
Although I can’t speak for other areas, for my Detroit-area readers I HIGHLY RECOMMENDKabobgy” restaurant in Southfield, which is owned by Edward Moussawer. Moussawer, a very patriotic American and Lebanese Maronite Christian, is a supporter of the Christian Lebanese Forces, headed by anti-Syrian Christian Lebanese hero Samir Geagea. It is unfortunate that, since this summer’s War with Hezbollah, many Jews who are ignorant and don’t know the difference have stopped patronizing Kabobgy.
Another restaurant featuring Middle Eastern food, also owned by Christans, is Southfield’s “Flaming Kabob” (two locations), which is owned by Chaldeans (Iraqi Catholics).

Weekend Box Office: Dept. of FairyTaleLand Security in Horrid New Age, Lefty Cinderella

By Debbie Schlussel
Don’t take your kids to see “Happily N’Ever After,” this weekend. It’s just plain awful.
As only liberals would, the makers of this animated New Age, politically correct rendition of Cinderella take a charming fairy-tale and turn it into crap. Instead of the Prince being a valiant, heroic, masculine figure who rescues Cinderella from a life of drudgery and sadness, he’s a doltish airhead and vain primper. Yup, the prince is an idiot, and the smart guy is a lowly, underappreciated servant. In the end, Ella (no longer Cinderella in this version of the tale), ends up with him instead of the idiotic Prince.
The one good part is at the beginning, when we are introduced to “The Department of FairyTaleLand Security,” where a wizard and his two helpers must make sure they maintain the balance between good and evil in fairy tales. I’d be happy if they were running Homeland Security, where evil–sympathizers with Islamists, terrorism supporters, and illegal aliens and the employers who love them–rule things. And I love the name–since the idea that this Department, DHS, is making our Homeland secure is a Fairy Tale.

happilyneveraftermovieposter.jpg

The rest of the movie is ridiculous, too. Susan Weaver, you know her as “Sigourney,” the pretentious name she took for herself, the horribly annoying actress–who recently attacked American men and compared them to Islamic extremists–voices the wicked stepmother, who is now dressed like a dominatrix. Charming–your kids exposed to dominatrixes (dominatrices?) at an early age. You never can expose them to those stilettos too young.

Rocky Betrayed: Stallone Supports Illegal Aliens

By Debbie Schlussel
I am getting e-mails by the boatload from readers angry with me for promoting the “Rocky Balboa” film because Sylvester Stallone just basically came out in favor of illegal aliens and against buiding a fence to help secure our borders:

“I support Mexicans who work in my country,” he said, adding that the United States depends on the hard work of Latinos to keep running.
In comments to Mexican media later, Stallone criticized plans to build 700 miles of fence along the border as an immigration-control measure.
Such a fence was “crazy” and “ridiculous,” he said, arguing that nations should be able to interact without being divided by walls.

Sounds like “Rocky 7: The Italian Stallion Gets Reprogrammed at the Ashram.”

rockyupsidedown.jpgillegalalienssmaller2.jpg

Illegal Aliens Are Laughing at Their New Rube, Sly Stallone

I agree with those readers who are angry, knowing what we know now. Stallone has exposed himself as yet another Hollywood dolt out of touch with reality.
That said, on this site, I have reviewed many movies, many of which star those whose politics I detest. Usually, their films either reflect their politics, the movie just plain stinks, or both. But occasionally, far-left actors (there rarely are any other kind) star in good movies, despite their idiotic politics.
One is “The Departed,” which stars lefty enviro-hypocrite Leonardo DiCrapio and lefty U.S. military-hater Matt Damon, and co-stars all-around political scumbag, Alec Baldwin. DiCrapio’s great in the movie (which is apolitical). I usually try to mention their detestable politics but also give my honest assessment of the movie and their performances therein, politics aside, as I did with “The Departed.”
I draw the line at criminals and thugs. Mark Wahlberg, for example, also co-stars in that movie. But, in real life, he’s a criminal thug who robbed Vietnamese immigrants and took one of their eyes out with a meathook. Once a reader of this site, “bhmildy,” drew my attention to that, I felt I could never again fully promote anything he does or stars in, and, at the very least, I’d have to mention his crime again, along with my strong reservations.
As for Stallone, it disgusts me that he’s turned out to be yet another Hollywood dummy. Knowing his views now (I didn’t know them then–the article quoting his pro-illegal alien views wasn’t out until today), I’m sorry I helped him promote his film and make him money. But it still is a good movie. And I gave my honest assessment. And I always decry the violent, obscene, and just plain crappy movies with crappy messages out there. “Rocky Balboa” did not fit those descriptions. It’s better than that and, in general, a good movie.
I’m sorry to hear that in real life Sylvester Stallone is simply no Rocky.
He may have a lot of money. But he has no heart or mind. You can’t possibly have those and, at the same time, support the takeover of our country and our way of life by those who don’t deserve to be here and are lawbreakers.
So, I’m no longer a fan of Sylvester Stallone. I thought he was different. And he turned out not to be.
But I’m still a fan of “Rocky.” The average working class American, which Rocky represents (and with whom Stallone is out of touch), strongly supports the fence on our border and a crackdown on the millions of illegal alien lawbreakers who remain on our soil illegally.
Yo, Adrian. Your husband’s lost his mind.

No, I’m not a supporter of gay rights or a promoter of homosexuality. I was making a joke that apparently some people didn’t get. If you clicked on the link, you’d know that. I forget that the whole world did not watch “Seinfeld” as fanatically as I did (or even at all).

The Candy Desk: The Cheap, Mooching Millionaires of the U.S. Senate Seek Free Sweets

By Debbie Schlussel
The front page of today’s Wall Street Journal bears an extensive article about how U.S. Senators are trying to figure out a way to get free candy. Really. I’m not kidding.
The story is about “The Candy Desk,” the desk on the floor of the U.S. Senate that belonged to defeated Senator Republican Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania. It is close to the door of the Senate chamber, and Santorum–being from the state of Hershey–got free candy from the Hershey Company and Just Born, Inc. (maker of Hot Tamales and Peanut Chews).
His desk was filled with candy, and the cheap millionaires of the Senate would always raid the desk for the candy. This is apparently a tradition begun by the late Senator George Murphy, in 1965, according to the U.S. Senate’s official website (WSJ reporter Sarah Lueck was in error, reporting it was 1968–but her article is very insightful regarding the absurdities of Senate moochers).

candydesk.jpg

The Candy Desk:

Symbol of U.S. Senate’s Mooching, Gluttonous, Cheapskate Ways

But, now, since Santorum’s gone, Senators are controlled by ethics rules barring U.S. Senators from getting more than $100 in free gifts from others. Since Santorum was from Pennsylvania, he fell under an exception to the rule, which allows Senators to exceed the dollar limit for products produced in their home states.
New Pennsylvania Senator Casey’s desk is too close to the middle of the Senate floor to allow him to have the candy desk. The new occupant, Republican Senator Craig Thomas of Wyoming. And his candy-selling constituents can’t afford to send the 400 pounds of free candy per year that Santorum got from Hershey et al, which was consumed by fat and happy (and apparently cheap) U.S. Senators. (100 gluttonous U.S. Senators consumed the equivalent of 38,000 Hershey’s kisses a year–or 3,800 kisses each.)
Two-thirds of the U.S. Senate are millionaires. They all make about $160,000 per year and get allowances for cars, gas, travel, a free office, and office staff.
And these people need free candy?! Come on. That they are spending so much time and energy to figure out how to get free candy–so much so that it’s a Wall Street Journal front-pager–should tell you a lot about why they never get anything good done, why they are out of touch with America on big issues like immigration, and why America is in trouble.
Yes, America. You’re country is being run by cheap, mooching millionaires wasting a lot of time figuring out how to get free candy.
Candy Desk for Elected Candy Asses.

**** BREAKING SCHLUSSEL EXCLUSIVE ****: ICE Deports Islamic Terrorist FAWAZ ABU DAMRA

By Debbie Schlussel
He’s finally gone.
My sources at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tell me that, yesterday, Islamic terrorist Fawaz Abu Damra was finally deported. He is now in the Palestinian Authority, where, unfortunately, he will probably live a good, free life.
I was the only member of the media at Damra’s deportation hearing, in late 2005 (read my report), which resulted in his guilty plea to being a terrorist and agreement to be deported, thanks to the masterful work of ICE Attorney Mark Jebson.
Before that, Damra was convicted by a federal jury in Cleveland, of lying about his membership in a terrorist group, Islamic Jihad, and was stripped of his U.S. citizenship. Damra was a crony and partner with fellow Islamic terrorist Sami Al-Arian, currently in prison and also ultimately to be deported.

damra.jpg

BUH-BYE! Islamic Terrorist Fawaz Abu Damra Gone from U.S. Soil

Damra, a member of Islamic Jihad, was the head of the Cleveland Mosque. He also was the imam at Brooklyn’s Al-Farooq Mosque, just before the blind cleric–Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman–replaced him. It was the house of worship for the 1993 World Trade Center bombers, members of Al-Qaeda.
Damra and Al-Arian raised money throughout the U.S. for Islamic Jihad terrorist attacks, some of which killed Americans, including New Jersey college student, Alisa Flatow.
From my 2005 entry on Damra:

This man, Damrah, is an important story, a great parable for other “moderate”, mainstream Islamic leaders in America–and how many of them, if not themselves terrorists, are vehement terror supporters and enablers. Not friends of America, and certainly not the loyal, law-abiding citizens they claim to be.
Damrah was respected as the leader of the largest mosque in Cleveland (reportedly, the largest in Ohio), and was a nationally respected Islamic figure. To the public, he represented himself as a moderate who opposed terrorism and only wanted peace. Easily duped Jewish and Christian leaders frequently had unity dinners, lunches, and town hall forums, all for the purpose of embracing this “peaceful” Muslim man who played the role they craved, especially after 9/11.
But the real Fawaz Abu Damra was a violent, hateful man, who supported the destruction of Christians, Jews, and America. An FBI transcript of a 1991 speech shows Damra imploring Muslims in attendance to give to Islamic Jihad movement through fraudulent means, and he makes it clear that the money will go to stab and kill Jews:

Tonight, Dr. Sami Al-Arian . . . he is the president of Islamic Committee for Palestine and a short briefing about the Islamic Committee for Palestine, it is the active arm of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, and we like to call it the Islamic Committee for Palestine here for security reasons.
***
Donate to the Islamic Jihad! Nidal Zaloum from the Islamic Jihad held a dagger and stabbed four of the Jews in the courtyard of Al-Haram Al-Qudsi . . . For the Intifadah, for the Islamic Jihad, I say it frankly for the Islamic Jihad. The Jihad is still erupting in Palestine from village to village, I tell you it is not for the organizations with respect to everyone but for the Jihad. The Jihad! One of them would leave his house with a knife to stab the Jews–twelve Jews after the events of the Gulf War. Brothers, the Intifadah calls you. Five hundred dollars! Who would add to five hundred dollars? Who would add to five hundred dollars? If you write a check, write it for the Islamic Committee for Palestine, I.C.P. Who would add to the five hundred dollars of Hajj Ahmad?
***
[Muslims should be] Directing all the rifles at the first and last enemy of the Islamic nation and that is the sons of monkeys and pigs, the Jews.

The money Damra helped Sami Al-Arian raise for Islamic Jihad went to fund Islamic Jihad terrorist attacks on innocent people, such as the bus bombing that murdered New Jersey college student Alisa Flatow, the daughter of my friend Stephen Flatow.

**** UPDATE: ICE Press Release announces Damra Deportation.
If only Damra could have remained in prison, forever. But our “Justice” Department failed here in not getting him convicted of serious terrorist crimes that would put him in jail for a long time (he only did a few months).
Unfortunately, he will not suffer like Alisa Flatow and the others whose murder he help finance through his fundraising efforts. He has three daughters, who remain in the U.S., where unfortunately they were born and are, therefore, citizens. Terrorist anchor babies.

Real-Life Superman on Letterman, Tonight; Is Navy AND Vietnam Vet

By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE, 01/05/07: Final Word–Wesley Autrey is a proud Vietnam Vet, after all.
Real-life Superman, Wesley Autrey, about whom I wrote, yesterday morning, will be on David Letterman on CBS, late night, tonight.
Yesterday, we noted a discrepancy in AP reporting on Autrey’s military service. AP initially reported Autrey is a Vietnam Vet, but then deleted it from its later stories. But it turns out he is, indeed, a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam.
Navy men can be proud of this true American hero.

The Jose Padilla Case: Bad Omens That It Will Mirror Al-Arian Fiasco

By Debbie Schlussel
Today’s New York Times article on the trial, later this month, of Abdullah Al-Muhajir a/k/a Jose Padilla illustrates, yet again, why we need to treat terrorists as national security risks, not criminal defendants in a warped “justice” system full of liberal judges and just plain dumb ones.
Reading the article, I had visions of the Sami Al-Arian trial–also in South Florida–where federal prosecutors were unable to get a conviction of the Islamic Jihad terrorist leader.
In the Al-Arian case, at least prosecutors could introduce anything and everything (which they did, boring jurors to death).

josepadilla.jpg

Abdullah Al-Muhajir a/k/a Jose Padilla

In the Padilla/Al-Muhajir case, since the Department of Justice did not want to let the Supreme Court decide whether he could be treated as an “enemy combatant” with less rights, the government is hamstrung, and can offer very little evidence from the mountain of it on him, it appears.
Prosecutors decided to indict Padilla/Al-Muhajir, a U.S. citizen and convert to Islam, in U.S. federal court. Unfortunately, that means that most of the evidence they got out of him–most of his answers to questioning from the feds–will likely be excluded from trial. The government, in fact, has not even indicted Padilla for anything related to his involvement with a plot to obtain a dirty bomb.
Instead, the government will have to rely on scant evidence, perfunctory discussions in seven taped telephone conversations and very vague coded phrases that are hard to pin down. Additionally, it will rely on Padilla/Al-Muhajir’s application to join Al-Qaeda.
Like I did with Al-Arian, I may have to start a “Padilla/Al-Muhajir Walk Watch.”
More details:

Deciphering such chatter in order to construct a convincing narrative of conspiracy is a challenge. . . . Mr. Padilla’s voice is heard on only seven calls. And on those seven, which The Times obtained from a participant in the case, Mr. Padilla does not discuss violent plots. . . .
His criminal trial, scheduled to begin late this month, will feature none of the initial claims about violent plotting with Al Qaeda that the government cited as justification for detaining Mr. Padilla without formal charges for three and a half years. Those claims came from the government’s overseas interrogations of terrorism suspects, like Abu Zubaydah, which, the government said, Mr. Padilla corroborated, in part, during his own questioning in a military brig in South Carolina.
But, constrained by strict federal rules of evidence that would prohibit or limit the use of information obtained during such interrogations, the government will make a far more circumscribed case against Mr. Padilla in court, effectively demoting him from Al Qaeda’s dirty bomber to foot soldier in a somewhat nebulous conspiracy. . . .
Senior government officials have said publicly that Mr. Padilla provided self-incriminating information during interrogations, admitting, they said, to undergoing basic terrorist training, to accepting an assignment to blow up apartment buildings in the United States, and to attending a farewell dinner with Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected master planner of the Sept. 11 attacks, before he flew to Chicago in 2002.
But any confessions by Mr. Padilla while he was detained without charges and denied access to counsel – whether or not he was mistreated, as his lawyers claim – would not be admissible in court.
And it is unlikely that information obtained during the harsh questioning of Al Qaeda detainees would be admissible, either . . . .
Probably as a consequence, the current criminal case zeroes in on what the government sees as an earlier stage of Mr. Padilla’s involvement with terrorism. It focuses primarily on the other defendants’ support during the 1990s for Muslim struggles overseas, especially in Bosnia, Kosovo and Chechnya. Mr. Padilla, who was appended to their pre-existing case, in which he had been an unnamed co-conspirator, is depicted as their recruit.
Although prosecutors have declined to discuss the government’s strategy, their filings and statements in court provide a picture of the case they are expected to present at trial.
The most tangible allegation against Mr. Padilla is that in 2000 he filled out, under an alias, an Arab-language application to attend a terrorist training camp. That application is expected to be offered into evidence alongside the wiretapped conversations, but Mr. Padilla’s lawyers say they will contest its admissibility, challenging the government’s assertion that the “mujahideen data form” belonged to their client.
Robert Chesney, a specialist in national security law at Wake Forest University, called the prosecution a pragmatic one, analogous to “going after Al Capone on tax evasion.”

I think the guys who successfully prosecuted Al Capone are turning over in their graves. If only they were here to conduct this prosecution, and were playing by the rules of that era. Based on the information from the telephone conversations, below, I think they’ll have a hard time convincing a jury, without the information they got while interrogating Padilla/Al-Muhajir, based on my experience as a someone who has done some criminal defense trial work:

Mr. Padilla’s lawyers and relatives say that he left South Florida for Egypt in September 1998 on a spiritual journey. A former juvenile offender, he converted to Islam as part of an effort to straighten out his life, they say. His mosque in Fort Lauderdale sponsored his travel, he told friends, relatives and F.B.I. agents who interviewed him in 2002. Mr. Hassoun belonged to that mosque, and the telephone transcripts seem to indicate that Mr. Hassoun helped, at the least, with Mr. Padilla’s travel plans.
The seven taped phone calls that bear Mr. Padilla’s voice involve conversations with Mr. Hassoun from 1997 to 2000.
On those calls, Mr. Padilla, unlike some of the other defendants, does not employ what the government says is coded language. According to the government, other defendants refer to their jihad-related plans as “getting some fresh air,” “participating in tourism,” “opening up a market,” “playing football,” and so on. This leads to silly-sounding exchanges where “the brothers” discuss going on “picnics” in order “to smell fresh air and to eat cheese” or using $3,500 to buy “zucchini.’
In contrast, Mr. Padilla’s seven conversations with Mr. Hassoun range from straightforward – Mr. Hassoun tells Mr. Padilla that his grandmother has died; Mr. Padilla tells Mr. Hassoun that he has found himself an 18-year-old Egyptian bride who is willing to wear a veil – to vaguely suggestive or just odd.
In one phone call, the two men talked about a dream. It appeared to be the dream that Mr. Padilla, according to his relatives, cites as having played a crucial role in inspiring him to convert to Islam: the vision of a man in a turban, surrounded by the swirling dust of a desert.
Mr. Hassoun brought it up and told Mr. Padilla that he himself had experienced the same vision. “What do you mean you saw the same dream?” Mr. Padilla asked.
“I saw the dream of the uh … person with the turban,” Mr. Hassoun said.
Mr. Hassoun explained how, in his dream, the turban was wrongly wrapped and so he thought the man might be a spy, in which case, he was prepared “to split his body apart.” But then, he said, he understood that “the brother … was a good one.”
“Yeah?” Mr. Padilla said.
In three of the seven conversations, Mr. Padilla made statements that the government has identified as “overt acts” in furtherance of the accused conspiracy.
In the first, Mr. Hassoun asked, “You’re ready, right?” and Mr. Padilla said, “God willing, brother, it’s going to happen soon.” That was the summer of 1997, a year before Mr. Padilla left South Florida for Egypt.
In the second, Mr. Padilla told Mr. Hassoun, during a 1999 conversation from Egypt, that he had asked his ex-wife in the United States to arrange for him to receive an army jacket, a book bag and a sleeping bag, supplies that he had requested because “there was a rumor here that the door was open somewhere.” In the third, Mr. Padilla told Mr. Hassoun in April 2000, that he would need a recommendation to “connect me with the good brothers, with the right faith” if he were to travel to Yemen.
Prosecutors say Mr. Padilla is mentioned, although by his Muslim name Ibrahim [DS: He also went by Abdullah Al-Muhajir.]or by another alias, on 21 additional tapes. One of them refers to Ibrahim as being “in the area of Usama,” which the government takes to mean that he was near Osama bin Laden. But Mr. Padilla’s lawyers contest that interpretation.

It sounds like the U.S. will have a very hard time proving much of anything, given all of this.
Hate to say it, but watch for the Padilla jury to be hung or let the guy walk. I correctly predicted the result of the Al-Arian trial. I hope I’m wrong here.
Civil liberties for a guy like this will ultimately end up in the loss of our ultimate civil right: life.
Thanks to Bill Warner, terrorism investigator and private eye extraordinaire, for sending the tip. If Bill were running the FBI or ICE in South Florida, things would get done.

Tragic: You Can’t Take it With You

By Debbie Schlussel
The death of Garry Betty, Tuesday, is proof that you can be extremely successful, make millions, and die tomorrow, without fully enjoying it or life.
Betty, the CEO of Earthlink, grew the company to what it is today–taking it from 500,000 subscribers in 1996 to 5.3 million, today, and billions in revenue. He won many awards, sat on corporate boards, and made mutli-millions. He was once the youngest CEO a New York Stock Exchange-listed company. Betty was the American success story.
Sadly, Betty died of complications from cancer at the relatively young age of 49.
Of specific note, Betty donated money to and was working on forming a foundation focusing on the use of adult stem cells to cure cancer, the New York Times reported.

garrybetty.jpg

Garry Betty, Earthlink CEO, RIP

He was an avid collector of books. He owned 3,500 first editions and first printings, many of them science fiction and fantasy, and about 10,000 pulp magazines. But he probably never got a chance to relax and enjoy them.
Betty took medical leave from the company in November when he learned of his illness. And learned that life is short.
And that you can’t take it–the millions or the book collection–with you. Remember, it can all be over tomorrow. The politics of envy aside, the angel of death does not distinguish between young millionaires and people of average means.
Garry Betty, Rest in Peace.

Weird Nuisance Brought on America: Another WNBA Team Bites the Dust

By Debbie Schlussel
For over a decade, I’ve written about a national sports farce: the WNBA a/k/a Lesbian Basketball, Inc.
Why does a “sports” “league” that never made a profit in a decade of operation, and that has yet to reach the ratings that the XFL got in its single season, continue to exist?
Political Correctness–with a capital PC–subsidized by liberal NBA gazillionaire owners, who make NBA fan/customers subsidize it, too.
It still exists, but the WNBA (Will Net Bupkus Always) has just seen another team go kaput, the Charlotte Sting.

wnbabasketball.jpgwnba.jpg

Clownball: Headed for Season Eleven Minus Another Team

In December, the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats got rid of the money-losing WNBA Charlotte Sting. A female marketing executive wanted to buy it, but couldn’t raise the $3.5 million (they should have paid her $3.5 million to take the loser “investment”).
Yesterday, the team folded because neither the NBA nor the WNBA could find a buyer. Surprise, surprise. Also not a surprise, the WNBA had no comment, yesterday.
Time to pull the plug on this failed social experiment in pro sports feminiam. They’ve had over a decade to prove themselves. It’s a solid, consistent failure.
And a Waste of National Broadcast Airtime.
