Uh-Oh: ICE Problem Poster Boy to be NY’s US Attorney; At Homeland Security, Garcia Nominated Alleged Bribe-Acceptor for Award

By Debbie Schlussel
As has long been rumored, Michael Garcia, who is currently running the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)–into the ground, has been nominated by President Bush to become one of the most prominent law enforcement officials in the country–U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (over Manhattan). But calling him a “terror pro,” as the NY Daily News did, is debatable. He did well prosecuting terrorists–as an assistant U.S. Attorney, but failed miserably in catching them and enforcing the law–as head of ICE. He became a certified ineffective bureaucrat mired in ruining two law enforcement agencies, Customs and INS, as he oversaw their still-disorganized merger. But he was very effective at one thing: emasculating both former agencies’ best elements while rewarding and elevating the worst elements and personnel, like Detroit ICE Special Agent in Charge (a/k/a Abu Moskowitz).
In fact, ICE officials are confused by Garcia’s ability to enforce the law. Some point to the kid-gloves treatment for ICE official Terry Nelson versus the treatment of Randy “Duke” Cunningham, a U.S. Congressman. This weekend, FBI agents raided Cunningham’s mansion and yacht. Cunningham is accused of accepting a sweetheart real estate sale of his home to a defense contractor with business before him (at considerable profit to Cunningham and loss to the buyer). He also lives rent-free on the defense contractor’s yacht, while in Washington.
Yet, contrast this with Garcia’s treatment of a similar offender–Terry Nelson, a high-ranking Buffalo area ICE official from the INS, who was nominated for an ICE award by other ICE officials under Garcia’s “leadership.” Nelson, who once oversaw prison contracts for holding illegal alien and immigration detainees awaiting deportation, allegedly accepted luxurious vacations for himself and his family from a prison contractor. Yet, under Garcia’s “leadership,” instead of being prosecuted, Nelson remains a high-ranking ICE official, and again, one or more of Garcia’s minions NOMINATED him for an ICE leadership award! Instead of facing justice, Nelson still works in a cushy ICE job in Buffalo and runs girls’ softball programs in his free time.
Is this a hint of Garcia’s future “law enforcement” endeavors as New York’s U.S. Attorney? No wonder his nomination is heartily endorsed by leftist New York Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer.

Another Reason to Get a Bris: Circumcision Reduces AIDS Risk 70%!

By Debbie Schlussel
I think I’ve found the perfect place to spend the tax money President Bush is lavishing on Africa and money raised by “Live Eight”: Mass Brises.
For those of you unfamiliar with a “bris,” it is the Jewish ritual ceremony of circumcision, traditionally done eight days after birth of Jewish male babies.
Now comes another reason to get a bris, from the front page of today’s Wall Street Journal: It reduces the AIDS risk by a whopping 70%! I can’t link to the article because it requires a WSJ subscription. But the front-pager, by Mark Schoofs, Sarah Lueck, and Michael M. Phillips, says the findings of a study by French and South African researchers have “found that male circumcision reduces by about 70% the risk that men will contract HIV through intercourse with infected women. Vaccine makers said they’d be happy with just 30% efficacy against AIDS, the article says, but this is 70%–incredible. Note that the study does NOT apply to gay intercourse and those who got the disease from sharing drug needles. Yet another development that makes it their disease, not OUR disease.
So, it’s time for Bono, Bob Geldof, and other rock-star-come-policy-wonks to put their money where their mouths are: Send the mohels (men skilled in performing the bris circumcision ritual) to Africa.
One wonders what those bizarro anti-circumcision groups, like NOCIRC and the International Coalition of Genital Integrity–both of which target the poor–will say in response to this dramatic study. Probably too busy trying to get in touch with their inner foreskin to notice.

Venus/Serena Dad: Bored by My Daughters = Racism

By Debbie Schlussel
If you think Venus and Serena Williams (VenuSerena) are “boring” (and they are), then you are a racist. So says, Dad of VenuSerena, Richard Williams, whose history of crying “racism” rivals a certain fable character’s history of crying “wolf”. In an interview with AP, he said, “When it was Steffi Graf or Chris Evert that won, or Monica Seles — but when those two black girls came and beat up everyone, tennis was ‘not exciting.'” Fans think VenuSerena made tennis “not exciting anymore. It’s boring.”
Message to Big Daddy Williams: If your daughters looked like Tyra Banks and Beyonce, maybe fans would find your daughters exciting. It has nothing to do with race. Fans weren’t excited by Seles or Graf, either. But they just loved Anna Kournikova. Her tennis skills (she never won a tournament) had nothing to do with it. Crying “racism” all the time doesn’t help. Nor does the Wayans brothers’ hilarious Comedy Central parody of VenuSerena in a “Got Milk?” ad. Sports is showbiz, and winning Wimbledon–as Venus did Saturday–just ain’t enough, these days.

Religion of Peace Update: Latest Kindness to Women

By Debbie Schlussel
We celebrated the Fourth of July, but the Religion of Peace (RoP) never takes a holiday. Here is the latest respect for women exhibited in the Detroit area by the RoP (none of which were condemned by ANY RoP leaders):
* Hashem Mohammad Abdullatif, of Dearborn, murdered his wife with a crowbar and tried to murder his two teen-age daughters, severely beating them. His other two children (believed to be boys) were untouched.
* Amir Aziz Shahideh beat and stabbed his girlfriend to death with a baseball bat and knife, then stuffed her body in a garbage bin.

Happy Birthday, America!

By Debbie Schlussel
Happy Birthday, America! How sad that things are changing in terms of patriotism for our great country. A Thursday USA Today article bore this sub-headline: “As Dual Citizenships Soar, Older Concepts of Loyalty and Patriotism are Flagging.” (The sub-headline is in the print edition only, not online.) So now, loyalty and patriotism to America are “old concepts”?! Maybe that’s the problem.
Why do we allow duel citizenships? In several countries, you must renounce citizenship in all other states and sovereign nations. Perhaps that’s the best route for us, too. Is it a good thing, for example, when many “citizens” of Dearborn, Michigan (a/k/a Little Ramallah), like Nejla Tavakoli, are voting in Iranian and Iraqi elections? No. Is it a good thing when in many parts of Dearborn, English is not spoken and people can’t understand it? No wonder loyalty and patriotism are flagging.
Remember Yasser Esam Hamdi? He was an American citizen merely by the luck of the draw, but an Al-Qaeda fighter against U.S. soldiers by choice. He was a duel citizen of Saudi Arabia and the U.S.–born here because his Saudi parents were in the U.S. temporarily on a visa. Time to change our citizenship laws in more ways than one. But so much for merely reporting the bad news. USA Today actually encourages readers to try to get dual citizenship in another country.
Happy Birthday, America . . . while there still is an America.

Sick of Supreme Sandy O’Connor Hype… & Other Not So Great Female Firsts

By Debbie Schlussel
Is it just me? Or are you, too, just a tad tired of the hype over Sandra Day O’Connor? What was so great about her? So she was the first woman on the U.S. Supreme Court? Big deal. She may have been the first with different plumbing, but that was the only thing unique about her–and even that is not unique on the Court, anymore. Her decisions weren’t remarkable. And neither was she. She insisted on being known by three names, and so her even less remarkable second chick in waiting, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, had to do the same. Great contribution to the Court. If she weren’t a she, she’d never have been on the Court. Ditto for Ginsburg (though she dazzled Slick Willie with her shameless liberal activism). O’Connor was an affirmative action appointment to the court (who voted, uncourageously to continue to mandate government affirmative action and preferences). And now, because Reagan did that, every Republican President that gets the chance will try to outdo themselves in the minority selection category. Watch for Bush to do the same (Gonzalez, anyone?).
But in honor of O’Connor’s retirement, here are some other equally not-so-great female firsts, that were nothing to celebrate–but which were conspicuously celebrated nonetheless:
* Madeleine Albright (or Dim-Wit, if you prefer, as I do), First Female (we think) Sec. of State: Her famous brooches, pins, and other garage-sale chic, garish jewelry matched her looks, views, and obnoxiousness in fugliness. Didn’t know she was Jewish (yeah, right), but everyone else did. Spent her whole life bending over backward to pretend she wasn’t. Loved spending time on her rustic Virginia farm with male-mirror-image soul mate, Yasser Arafat.
* Mary Sue Coleman, First Female President of the University of Michigan (my alma mater, or as my Dad calls it “Moscow on the Huron”–our apologies to Moscow): Insisted on indicted Islamic Jihad Terrorist leader Sami Al-Arian (who murdered and American college student) being allowed to speak on campus. Taxpayers picked up the tab for his extra security. Led fight for anti-Semitic, pro-terrorism Palestinian Divestment conference to be held on campus in the name of free speech (taxpayers picked up the tab for the tons of police, here, too), but won’t let far more respectable strip clubs exercise their free speech by advertising at U-M football games; ditto on restricting free speech of military and federal law enforcement recruiters. Led the fight to preserve racial, ethnic, and gender preferences in admissions at U-M, but she can’t help it–Coleman got her job under an affirmative action program for incompetents–must’ve been that quota for real blondes. Or for hicks with two first names. Or both.
* Geraldine Ferraro, First Female Vice Presidential Nominee (for a major party): Was very pro family (Gambino Family, Genovese Family, etc.). Mr. Geraldine Ferraro was rumored to literally be a member of the “family.” Partnered with Walter Mon-dull to win a record one state (People’s Republic of Minnesota) plus the Banana Republic District of Columbia–in landslide loss to a truly great American, Ronald Reagan.
* Jennifer Granholm a/k/a Governatrix Gran-HO, Canadian-born (Thank G-d she can’t be Prez) first governatrix of Michigan: Has dubious distinction for being the only governor in the country who: a) was a contestant on “The Dating Game”; b) has effeminate, girlie-man husband and kids who took her last name; and c) spouse openly bragged of their unexciting sex-life (Too Much Information!) at a “First Man’s Forum” featuring other stay-at-home dads, during her Inauguration weekend. While most of U.S. is in economic upturn, she presides over the highest unemployment rate in the country. Good job, Jenny from the Block. Bad, shrieking oratorical style reminds you of Hillary Clinton with Tinkerbell visage. Sent high-ranking lesbian members of staff to accept award as Michigan’s gay-friendliest governor from transvestite named “Penney.” Hates wearing skirts. Hmmm . . . .
* Lynette Woodard, first female member of Harlem Globetrotters: Unwittingly provided inspiration for butch-girlie sideshow WNBA (which is Globetrotters minus the basketball, tricks, fans, and women)–right down to the clownish, multi-colored basketball.
* Jeannette Rankin, First Congresswoman: Only Member of Congress to vote against both World Wars I & II. Way to be on the losing side. Cynthia McKinney, a/k/a Jihad Cindy, must be jealous. Rankin (a Republican from Montana–we are non-partisan when it comes to idiots, here) also said, “We women are half the people. We should be half the Congress.” Judging from her example, thankfully her prayer remains unanswered.

Spielberg “Vengeance” Update: Steven’s Stockholm Syndrome Worse Than I’d Earlier Diagnosed

By Debbie Schlussel
A New York Times article, today, confirms everything I’ve written ( and ) and worse regarding Steven Spielberg’s upcoming “Vengeance” movie. It is now a certainty that Mr. “Schindler’s List” will expend the capital he earned on that film to now HUMANIZE(!) Palestinian terrorists who murdered the Israeli Olympic athletes in Munich in 1972.
It’s bad enough that Spielberg ran the script by Arafat-fan Bill Clinton–Arafat ordered the Olympic athlete massacre–and other assorted Clintonistas who drooled over Arafat, like Mike McCurry and Dennis Ross.
Worse is the revelation that playwright Tony Kushner (a self-avowed socialist and gay activist) is praised for “humanizing the film’s hunted Palestinians and giving a fuller sense of their motivation.” Can you imagine if someone did a film humanizing Mohammed Atta and giving a fuller sense of his motivation?! Or perhaps he can do “Schindler’s Other List,” humanizing the Nazis and giving a fuller sense of their motivation. Unbelievable. We don’t need more psychobabble about understanding the terrorists and why they hate us. Who cares why they hate us? A better question is: Why don’t we hate them enough to quit doing crappy, Stockholm-Syndrome movies like this?
If the Times doesn’t make Spielberg’s intentions—-clear once, it makes them clear twice. Kushner was hired by Spielberg “to humanize what he felt was too procedural a thriller,” as written by another screenwriter.
Spielberg released a statement calling the Munich Olympic massacre “a defining moment in the modern history of the Middle East,” as if he’s proud of that. It wasn’t a “defining” moment. It was an EXTREMELY TRAGIC moment!
One hint Spielberg is playing for the wrong team: “Vengeance” is being shot in Pan-Arabist Malta, which criminally prosecuted columnist Simone Endrich for criticizing Palestinian terrorists, homicide bombings, and the Maltese Prime Minister for participating in a pro-Palestinian demonstration. So glad Spielberg picked such an even-handed locale for “Vengeance.”
Other signs Steven Spielberg is glorifying the Munich Olympic terrorists: He

Abu Moskowitz Update: The Continuing Saga of an ICE Special Agent in Charge

By Debbie Schlussel
I have received some inquiries regarding this portion of a :
But his agents are scratching their heads about Moskowitz’s “integrity,” considering his behavior as unexpectedly observed by one of his agents, at an April ICE leadership event outside of Washington. (News of this spread like wildfire among his agents, who are wondering whether taxpayer dollars were expended for his companion.)
Because accuracy is important to me, the first sentence has now been changed to:
But his agents are scratching their heads about Moskowitz’s “integrity,” considering his behavior as unexpectedly observed in the Washington area, by one of his agents, around the time Moskowitz attended an April ICE retreat nearby.
To clarify, pursuant to inquiries I’ve received, an agent who is a Moskowitz subordinate, was not expected by Moskowitz to be in the Washington area at that time, because the agent is not at that level–for the ICE event (and was not invited). That’s why Moskowitz was allegedly surprised when the agent allegedly walked in on Moskowitz, to Moskowitz’s surprise. It was around the time of an ICE confab in April outside Washington, though this occurred not exactly on the premises of the ICE get-together, but at a location near or in Washington before, during, or after the ICE conference. I used “at an ICE retreat” for the purpose of time, approximate location, and brevity. The ICE meeting appears to be the reason was in the area at the time. I am amending the blog post to reflect this information. I wish I could provide more details, but as I’ve previously noted, Abu Moskowitz refuses to grant an interview because, his press person noted, “It won’t enhance Brian Moskowitz’s career.” Indeed.
I certainly hope that Abu Moskowitz will not abuse his power–in the guise of “protecting ICE and confidential investigations inside his office”–to discipline this brave person who works for him, for blowing the whistle on Abu Moskowitz’s “integrity.”

Update on Morgan Spurlock’s Supersized Islamist BS

On Friday, I wrote a piece in the Wall Street Journal (and a different, longer version ) on Morgan Spurlock’s phony “documentary” about his moronic friend, David Stacy’s stay with a carefully picked Detroit-area Muslim family. After watching the absurd episode of the show, “30 Days,” last night, there is more to add.
Spurlock gets some important facts wrong, which casts deserved doubt on the rest of what he says and portrays. For example, Spurlock claims that Jews are still waiting for G-d’s son to arrive as their messiah. Jews believe G-d has a son? As a Jew, this is news to me, since we believe there is only one G-d, and that he has NO SON. That is one of the basic precepts of Judaism, which differentiates it from Christianity–the G-d is one, and not divided into a trilogy that includes a son. That Spurlock got this wrong reflects on his equally inaccurate knowledge of Islam, as reflected by this silly show.
(Among other inaccuracies, Spurlock claims the subject of the show, David Stacy, spent 30 days with a Muslim family in Dearborn. But the family lives in Canton, Michigan, not Dearborn, despite Spurlock’s constant incorrect use of Dearborn as the locale.)
Then, there is the fact I previously didn’t mention. David Stacy, the subject of the show, got paid $30,000 to spend the 30 days with the Muslim family. Spurlock asks him on the show why he’s doing this, but that’s not the answer Dave gives. The $30,000 checkbook “journalism” should have been disclosed. It is unethical that it was not.
But it’s not surprising Spurlock paid the subjects of these shows $30,000 to do the absurd. This is from “inkling” who posted at Little Green Footballs, one of my favorite blogs:
Morgan Spurlock got his start in TV with the show “I Bet You Will. Here’s a synopsis from TVtome.com:
“‘I Bet You Will’, the show that proves people will do anything for money! From bobbing for bacon in baked beans or putting live sea creatures in your pants, to drinking shots of vinegar, this show will stop at nothing to humiliate ordinary people off the street — all for the sake of a few hundred bucks.
“Filmed at various Spring Break locations, college campuses and downtown venues, the show features about a dozen short stunts geared to test the intestinal fortitude – literally – of the unsuspecting participants. Regular stunts include The Spice Rack, I Bet You Wheel and The Duck Pond. If its messy, squishy, gross and anything that makes you puke, you WILL find it on ‘I Bet You Will’.”

Abu Moskowitz or Abed Moskowitz? Taking a Vote

By Debbie Schlussel
Many of you have written to me regarding my ongoing coverage of the disturbing Islamist leanings and conflicts of interest displayed by a/k/a Abu Moskowitz, Special Agent in Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for Michigan and Ohio.
But while all like the name “Abu Moskowitz,” many have asked whether “Abed” Moskowitz might be a more appropriate name. While “Abu” is Arabic for father, it implies being a leader or master. “Abed” is Arabic for slave. The word has, unfortunately, become a derogatory word used by many in the Detroit Islamic community–headed by Moskowitz’ crony Imad Hamad–to describe Black people.
Moskowitz, hardly a leader over his own agents (among whom morale is at an all-time low), is also clearly not the one taking the lead in his relationship with “former” PFLP terrorist and FBI award revokee . It seems Moskowitz is Hamad’s abed–with in Moskowitz’s office, and (child porn tapes and sex tourism, not the greater threats of Islamic terror-related Hawalas, money-laundering, and illegal immigration). A recent Wall Street Journal article detailed the push in ICE to crack down on Islamic Hawalas, nationwide, and described many of the successful investigations and prosecutions. Moskowitz’s domain, in the heart of Islamic America, was strangely missing from the story, because he is not pursuing ICE’s Hawala directive aggressively–or even at all.
Then, there is Moskowitz’s own office, where morale is at an all-time low. He spent $30,000 on new carpeting and furniture for his office, but there is no money for pens or files for his agents, so that they open cases and investigations of criminals. At his ICE office’s Christmas party, last year, Moskowitz announced he did not want to be in Detroit and preferred Arizona, so “if you don’t like it, quit. There are many others in line to take your job.” Finally, there is Moskowitz’s claim of commitment to integrity (like the Clintons’ empty claim when they came to the White House). But his agents are scratching their heads about Moskowitz’s “integrity,” considering his behavior as unexpectedly observed in the Washington area, by one of his agents, around the time Moskowitz attended an April ICE retreat nearby. (News of this spread like wildfire among his agents, who are wondering whether taxpayer dollars were expended for his companion.)
So, I’m taking votes. Should we keep going with the catchy Abu Moskowitz or go with Abed Moskowitz? You can post your votes and reasoning here (you don’t have to use your real name to register) or e-mail me. I will eventually announce the results.
Either way, you know you are safe with Abu Moskowitz “in charge.” He is busy catching those dangerous Major League Baseball counterfeiters who are terrorizing our lives.
