When I first saw the video, yesterday, on local Detroit news, of Detroit City Councilwoman JoAnn Watson demanding an Obama bailout because of Black votes for Obama, I knew it would go viral. But it’s hardly a surprise to anyone who has followed the whackjob Watson as I have over her long “career” as a Black supremacist and Detroit politician. She never met a race card she didn’t play. But that’s par for the course when it comes to the People’s Republic of the Detroit City Council. It’s no shocker that Obama is now planning to come to Detroit to pimp his plan to raise taxes on the wealthy. That plays well with the folks who elected Watson and her ilk.
As I’ve previously noted on this site, Watson canceled a contract for a Black boxer to get paid ten bucks an hour to train young Black boys in a boxing class. Her reason: the Black former pro boxer wasn’t Black enough because he lived in a Detroit suburb where White people live, instead of Detroit (from which Blacks are leaving in droves). As I noted then, this boxer would have been the only father figure most of these kids would ever have in their lives, but JoAnn Watson made sure that would never happen. Watson loves herself and her racism so much that she spells her first name two different ways (“JoAnn” and “Jo Ann”).
Watson made a career of racial politics and regularly attending Nation of Islam events in Detroit as an honored guest of Louis Farrakhan. She also serves on the board of the Detroit NAACP, which honored Rev. Jeremiah Wright, even after all of his anti-Semitic, racist, pro-HAMAS, bigoted sermons came to light. And Watson voted for and strongly supported “Black-only” contracts and empowerment zones (which she called “African Town”) in Detroit. Yup, that’s the way to get Detroit out of the never-ending dung hole it’s in, right?
Watson was formerly an employee of Congressman John Conyers (D-Marxism), and his Congressional staff was illegally forced to do work on the federal dime to help get her re-elected to the Detroit City Council. She paid him back by supporting the “brilliant” idea of renaming the U.S. half of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, the “John Conyers, Jr. Tunnel” (which might be appropriate since it is, in fact, under water).
Other stellar Watson “ideas” to save Detroit have included calling Billy Dee Williams a “racist” for doing Colt 45 malt liquor billboard ads and trying to have the ads banned from Detroit. Uh-huh, that’ll save the city. Um, JoAnn, Lando Calrissian isn’t the reason Detroit is dead. YOU ARE. When the “Red Dawn” movie remake was being filmed in Detroit, this Ms. Thang parked her Detroit-owned car in the middle of the shoot and refused to move because she’s special and demonstrated her usual sense of entitlement, costing the production thousands of dollars.
Watson’s official City of Detroit bio says she “was named by The Nation Magazine as the ‘Most Valuable Local Municipal Official’ in 2010.” Yup, The Nation sure knows how to pick ‘em. The Far Left always does, doesn’t it?
Among other “accomplishments” Watson lists in her bio:
Watson has been a frequent presenter during the Congressional Black Caucus Reparations Braintrust Sessions since 1990, . . . a speaker during the United Nations World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa in 2001, a delegate to the Women for a Meaningful Summit Conference in the former U.S.S.R. in 1989; and a keynoter to the State of the Black World Conference in 2003 and 2008 and the American Red Cross National Convention in 1990.. In addition, she has served on the Racial Justice Working Group of the National Council of Churches, President of the National Anti-Klan Network, and on the National Boards of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, National Association for the Study of the Harassment of African American Officials, the Sugar Law Center of the National Lawyers Guild, and the Center for Constitutional Rights, among other organizations
Jo Ann Nichols Watson is a licensed Social Worker with the State of Michigan, and she has authored numerous publications including: Should America Pay published in 2003 and Urban Metaphysics published in 2011. She . . . has sponsored Detroit students who are attending The Latin American medical school in Cuba. . . .
Jo Ann Watson was invited by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to an historic reception at the White House on February 22, 2012 to commemorate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Black History wing of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D. C. On February 25th, 2012,
Watson proudly counts Coleman A. Young, . . . John Conyers, Mother Rosa Parks . . . among her mentors.
If you can’t tell from this, here’s a tip: she’s a Marxist nutjob.
Now that you know the background of JoAnn Watson, her demand that the Obama administration bail out Detroit is just same ‘ole, same ‘ole. Just more of her regular brand of crazy.
The people of Detroit keep re-electing her, and they get everything they deserve.
