Those in my generation knew John Forsythe, who died yesterday (at the age of 92), as the suave and debonaire silver-haired actor who played the voice of Charlie on TV’s “Charlie’s Angels” and as Blake Carrington on the prime time soap opera, “Dynasty.”  But those roles were actually “chopped liver” compared to his long and fruitful acting career on the stage, big screen and TV, which spanned decades.

But, to me, this classy actor’s life is best exemplified by the fact that he left a burgeoning, lucrative movie career to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II.  That’s the sacrifice of a true patriot.  Even though he was deemed unable to fly planes, he participated in the war effort in other ways:

World War II intervened in his career, but only briefly, as the U.S. Army Air Corps deemed Forsythe’s vision subpar for flying planes, as he had hoped to do. Instead, his thespian background forwarded him into a major propaganda project. The corps produced renowned playwright Moss Hart’s “Winged Victory,” an ensemble tale of American soldiers and their wartime sacrifices, and Forsythe found himself cast with fellow luminaries-in-uniform Red Buttons, Mario Lanza, Gary Merrill and Karl Malden.

Just over a week after Barack Obama officially hired Muslim extremist Nawar Shora to be a Senior Policy Advisor for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Obama administration removed strict screening requirements for travelers to the U.S. from 14 “terrorism-prone” (translation:  Muslim) countries.

If you are traveling to the U.S. from Algeria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and other assorted world paradises of the Islamic persuasion, now is your time to do Undie-Bomber, The Sequel.

The extra checkpoint scrutiny for these people has been removed, and, predictably, applauded by the usual whiner suspects from  CAIR, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (whose chief honcho’s wife, Dr. Layla Al-Marayati, heads a HAMAS-enabling charity).

The Obama administration is lifting an emergency order that has required extra airport screening of all passengers flying to the USA from 14 terror-prone countries, two senior administration officials said Thursday.

Remember all of those openly anti-Israel Obama advisors, whom the President “fired” during the 2008 campaign?  Well, they’ve all resurfaced.  As I noted before, they weren’t really “fired,” so much as they were placed in an “unofficial” capacity to engage HAMAS.    And that poisonous engagement is being ramped up at the direction of the Obama administration.

It’s all quite scary, but then it’s nothing I and others didn’t warn you about during the election campaign.  Obama was talking to HAMAS then, and he’s stepping it up in his talks with this avowed terrorist group, now.  And don’t forget that HAMAS, several times, vowed to target Americans.  The group is no different than Al-Qaeda, and in fact, frequently works together with Qaeda.

From today’s Wall Street Journal:

Several high-profile former U.S. officials, some with close ties to the Obama administration, met with leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in recent months, raising hope inside the group that its views are being heard at the White House.

You know my feelings on this.  They haven’t wavered over the years.  Israel should flatten Gaza if they truly want to defeat HAMAS, once and for all.  The repeated temporary air strikes and semi-incursions into Gaza never stop the HAMASniks and only strengthen their resolve.  It’s like shaving stubble.  It’s gonna grow back.

Something has to be done about the constant Kassam rocket attacks, the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, and the recent murder of two Israeli soldiers near the border, not to mention the recent murder of a Thai man in Israel  by one of Gaza’s Kassams.

Still, can’t say I don’t like these latest fireworks, tonight, by Israel–finally, meekly striking back.  The pictures are things of beauty.

Forget the Hair Club for Men.  It’s time for the Hair Club for Mohammed (he’s not only the prophet, he’s also a member).

Whereas the Hair Club for Men costs thousands for complete hair transplants, with each follicular insertion costing several dollars a piece, the Hair Club for Muslims won’t put you in hock.  Instead, you hock your daughter. . . or someone else’s daughter.  At least, that’s what they do in Jakarta, Indonesia (the country with the world’s largest Muslim population).

A man in Klaten, Central Java says he sold an underage girl as a prostitute in order to pay for his hair treatments.

Mardi, 21, was detained on Wednesday. Police said he had acted as a pimp for a 15-year-old girl named WE. The police were tipped off by local residents who grew suspicious after noticing that the girl often went to a hotel with different men.

On Saturday, the latest Steve Jobs Apple techno gadget goes on sale.  But I doubt I’ll buy an IPad, at least not for a while. Even with the relatively competitive $500 price and the relatively light weight/easy to carry tablet design.

For me, the biggest problem is the idea of reading books on it, which would be one of the bigger reasons for buying it.  You can’t resell the book.  You can’t turn the pages and easily flip back to another page because they all look the same and you’re instead touch-screening back to find something.  Also, I do most of my book reading on the Jewish Sabbath.  Under our religious laws, we can’t use electronics on the Sabbath, so that’s out for me.  I need the physical, tangible real thing–a bound book.

And there are problems with issues such as–when you buy a better, later model of the IPad later on–whether or not you can transfer the book to your new IPad.  I just can’t imagine the term “curling up with an IPad,” the way you would with an actual bound, published book.  My eyes would get tired of staring into the lighted keyboard.  If there’s ever a black-out, like there was back in 2003, you won’t be able to recharge or power your IPad, once it runs out, so then, book reading will be totally out, if you don’t have the real thing.

The next time you hear about the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, know that the name is phony.  The organization–which is behind phonies like Mohammed Zuhdi Jasser and his false ideas that “true Islam” and “most Muslims” are peaceful–quickly folded to the empty threats of an admitted, convicted Hezbollah spy’s lawyer.  The organization would be better called “Cracking Foundation for the Defense of Democracies Until a Lawyer Sends Us a Letter and We Immediately Cave.”

As I told you the other day, Hezbollah spy and convicted felon, Nada Nadim Prouty, is doing the media rounds, boo-hooing, and otherwise whining about how she’s a woman done wrong.  And, as I also noted, her new lawyer, Mark Zaid is threatening lawsuits and sending letters.  The one person to whom he’s not sent one of his empty threats is me.  While I was out for Passover, Zaid admitted on his FaceBook Page that he won’t sue me.  That’s because he knows full well he doesn’t have a case. It’s a case he’ll not only lose, but I and my lawyers would have fun with it, along with a certain counter-suit.  Zaid’s client, Nada Nadim Prouty, admitted her crimes in a signed plea agreement, and now she’s trying to take advantage of her absurd freedom by cashing in.  She won’t get a dime from me, nor a retraction of the truth.

But look who gave in.  “Fighters” against Islamic terrorism–the same people who criticize liberals and the Obama administration (but not so much the equally wimpy Bush administration before that) for wimping out on terrorism, immediately wimped out because a lawyer’s secretary typed a baseless letter and put a stamp on it.

A lawyer is warning TV commentators, bloggers and Web sites that they could face defamation lawsuits if they continue calling his client, Nada Prouty, a terrorist spy. . . .

Western Women Chose the More Effeminate of These Girlie-Men

In World War II, when droves of women went to work in factories as Rosie the Riveter while their men were abroad fighting Nazis, they knew it was only temporary.  When the REAL men came back, the women would return to being women.  It’s hardly news that now America’s men are the new women.  And vice versa.  Like I said, we’ve been noting that here for over a decade.

Saturday’s Wall Street Journal had a much publicized two-page feature, “Why Women Don’t Want Macho Men,” about studies consistently showing that women in relatively wealthy Western societies prefer men with feminine faces and features, while women in struggling societies prefer masculine men.  But the article should have been title, “Why Spoiled Western Women Don’t Want Men & Why They’d Rather Be Them.”

Count me out of that mix.  I looked at the photos of the feminine men and thought, “Blechhhh.”  As a red-blooded, American female, I prefer the ruggedly handsome, masculine-looking guy–who can fix things and protect me–any day of the week to the effeminate, gay-looking girlie-men these “sophisticated Western women” picked.  Sadly, according to these studies, many Western women prefer the feminized version.  But, to me, even the “masculine” version looks like a chick (see above).  Yuck.

If you’re the parent of tween or teen fans of Miley Cyrus (or, as we call her here, Miley Virus), think twice about her new movie, “The Last Song,” which debuts in theaters, today.  It’s not that there’s anything explicit or graphic that’s objectionable–there are no four-letter words or even a single sex scene. (And, perhaps, we should be happy at that.  But that should be the baseline, not the standard for a great movie for a young audience.)

It’s that the movie is so cloying, maudlin, and manipulative, it made me angry. Throughout the entire second half of the movie, the loud, crying wails of the audience (at the screening I attended last week) were audible and scary.  People at this chick flick were literally bawling.  It’s not just that the movie was pointless and made everyone cry (including me), it’s that it wasn’t a happy movie-going experience.  Instead, it’s an exercise in providing the entire Third World’s new water source through your eyeballs, as you watch an obviously contrived set-up to a father dying of cancer.  For myself, all it did was remind me of my own father’s painful death from the disease.  Did I need that?  Do you?  Not really. . . unless we had a financial interest in perpetuating Hannah Montana’s hackneyed showbiz career.  And the plot was stupid.

Hey kids, enjoy the cancer movie.  I’ll pick ya up in two hours. . . .
