Do fish feel pain on a hook? Who cares. They taste good, and there’s no other way to catch, kill, and eat them fresh. (Fish nets are generally reserved by law for American Indian use.)
But that’s not how the butt-inskys of PETA (the so-called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) want you to see it. Check out this article from today’s USA Today sports section (no, you can’t even avoid PETA in the sports section).
They want newspapers to stop running fishing columns. But that’s not enough. For the Citgo Bassmaster Classic, the Super Bowl of fishing, this weekend, PETA has posted billboards, featuring a dog with a fish hook in its mouth, and this message: “If you wouldn’t do this to a dog, why do it to a fish? Fishing Hurts.com” It’s part of PETA’s questionably-named “Fish Empathy Project.”

But, at least in America, you don’t eat your pet dog. There are things we don’t do to fish, though, that the hypocritical, phony PETA DOES do to dogs: They gas them to death and dump them. No PETA Dog Empathy Project, though. Yes, PETA does things to dogs far worse than hooks in their mouths.
The only PETA worth considering is the one for the rest of us, People Eating Tasty Animals.

It’s Mick Jagger’s 62nd birthday. But don’t celebrate the aging Big Lips or his new album, “A Bigger Bang,” the release of which was announced today. Especially if you are proud to be American. One song on the album is “Sweet Neo-Con,” an attack President Bush and American foreign policy. Instead of “Starting Me Up,” that Turns Me Off.

Maybe I should write a book: “Stupid Judges and the Terrorists who Love Them.”
The latest star of my book would be the not-so-Honorable John Coughenor. This morning, Coughenor sentenced “Millenium Bomber” terrorist Ahmed Ressam to only 22 years in prison. With time off for good behavior, he’ll probably get out even earlier.
In case you forgot–Judge Coughenor apparently did–Ressam spent several months in Vancouver, Canada assembling bomb-making materials before heading to the United States to bomb Los Angeles’ LAX Airport. Suspicious Border Patrol guards in Port Angeles, Wash., stopped him as he got off a ferry from Victoria. But INS personnel welcomed Ressam and waived him in.

It was conscientious U.S. Customs inspectors, like Diana Dean, (before Customs inspectors became part of CBP; before the rest of Customs became ICE and got messed up by the likes of a/k/a Abu Moskowitz, who is even softer on terrorists than Judge Coughenor) who noted the explosives in the trunk of Ressam’s car, and arrested him. Don’t expect that to happen again, with the likes of Islamist-pandering Abu Moskowitz in charge.
Now it’s Judge Coughenor who’s going easy on this terrorist who might have murdered countless Americans, but for being caught. The Justice Department is hardly blameless here. They only asked for 35 years. Why not life? Ressam was convicted of 9 terror-related charges and refused to provide info about terror suspects in Canada and Britain.

A study I about (as published in the Wall Street Journal) was just released. It shows that male circumcision reduces female to male AIDS transmission by at least 65%. As I wrote, this should silence the NOCIRC and other bizarro anti-circumcision activists. (FYI, a “bris” is the Jewish circumcision ritual performed on males eight days after birth.)

In a highly questionable move, Ricky Williams, the NFL’s Most Valuable Toker, was allowed to return to the Miami Dolphin team he abandoned for an exciting life of spliffing. Only in the NFL.
Why is he returning? Hint: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ‘Nuff said.

In a related story, the Miami Dolphins have adopted this as the new team insignia. They said the old one reminded them too much of the transsexual Miami Dolphin in that Jim Carrey movie. Laces out!

Today, Lebanese Forces and Maronite Christian leader Samir Geagea (pronounced, “Zha Zha,” like Zha Zha Gabor) was released from Lebanese prison.
Geagea, a freedom fighter, who fought leftist, Syrian, Hezbollah, and Palestinian forces, was the ONLY man punished for incidents during the Lebanese civil war. His arrest, trial, and incarceration on murder charges were an orchestrated railroading of a brave man–at the direction of terrorist-host state Syria. Geagea was this close to becoming leader of Lebanon and establishing peace with the State of Israel by recognizing it. And we can’t have that.

Though sentenced to prison for life, Geagea said, “I would prefer to remain in prison for another 20 years than bargain my beliefs for freedom.” He was granted amnesty for his phony show-trial conviction.
Geagea is the single most important catalyst in getting entirely rid of Syria from Lebanon for good. That hasn’t happened yet, despite Bush Administration gushing about free elections (which produced the first-ever open/official Hezbollah member elected to Lebanese government). Troubling is Geagea’s reported alliance with Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, who for years whored himself out to Syria (even though his father Kamal Jumblatt was murdered by Rifaat Al-Assad, uncle of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad).
Geagea’s wife, Streada, was just elected to the Lebanese parliament.

If you’re into Stealth bombers, cool special effects, and flying, I still don’t recommend the movie, “Stealth,” out Friday. Starring Jessica Biel, Jamie Foxx, and Josh Lucas, I thought I would like this film. But I was wrong.
Action-packed? Yes. Patriotic? No. The soundtrack comes from anti-war, leftist proletariat band, Incubus. That should tell you all you need to know. But here’s more:
Like most Hollywood anti-American, anti-military trash, “Stealth” has its evil commanding officer willing to kill his own men to protect himself (complete with an evil Southern accent–Southerners are always evil or stupid in the world according to Hollywood), corrupt Pentagon official, plus a Stealth plane run by a robot gone haywire.
Then there’s Foxx’s character, a walking, talking version of every Black stereotype imaginable. (Strangely, it didn’t seem to bother the largely Black crowd with whom I saw the flick.)
I remember when defense-minded conservatives pushed against Congressional leftists to get funding to develop Stealth bombers. And I’m glad we have them, now. I like Stealth bombers, but not this movie. If you want to see a military movie that makes you proud to be an American, blow off “Stealth,” and see “,” instead (“Raid” comes out on August 12th).

Previously, I’ve written about the , an anti-Semitic, anti-American hate-fest held each year in Jordan–featuring Muslims and Arab kiddies from around the world. Ostensibly, the conference is about promoting tolerance and understanding, but it’s really about training them young on hatred for Jews, Americans, and Westerners. The conference is funded in large part by Dubai. Several of the 9/11 hijackers carried Dubaian documents and used Dubai bank accounts to fund their “activities.”
Last year, as a guest of honor, hung out with the haters, and made out with Queen Noor (see photos ). This year, the offender is the ambiguously gay Ricky Martin, as a UN Childrens Fund Goodwill Ambassador. As you can see, below, Ricky Martin is wearing the “Map of Hate” scarf, with “Jerusalem is ours,” in Arabic, and giving a “thumbs up”. (The “Map of Hate” is the map showing ALL of Israel as Palestine–as in wiping the Jews off the face of Israel, and ultimately, the world.)

Looks like Martin has now cut his already-dwindled-to-almost-nothing audience to an even smaller slice: gay Palestinian terrorists. While there are more of those than you’d want to know about, it’s not a large enough audience to sustain a pop career. And the only well-known one, Yasser Arafat, is now dead. Martin is planning to visit the “Palestinian territories.” Talk about “Living the Vida Loca.” Or just plain being “Loco” (in his case, perhaps “Loca”).
When they complained they were “stereotyped” as terrorists, Martin compared himself to the Arab and Muslim kiddies, thusly: “I have been a victim of stereotypes. I come from Latin America and to some countries, we are considered ‘losers,’ drug traffickers, and that is not fair because that is generalizing.”
But there’s an important distinction between the two peoples: The peoples of Latin America, in poll after poll, detest druglord killers like Pablo Escobar, drug cartels like Medellin, and the terror tactics, torture and murder they employ. Not so for the Arab and Muslim countries for whom Osama Bin Laden remains the most popular figure and whose people cheered in the streets for 9/11 and Hamas homicide bombings galore. Teachers and Catholic priests in Latin America do not exhort Latino children as young as age three to become Escobar martyrs. Etc., Etc., Etc. Ad Nauseam.
Ricky Martin says his Ricky Martin Foundation “is working to combat child pornography and prostitution worldwide.” No word on whether it also works to combat celebrity political prostitution.
