There’s the outrage when Brazilian is accidentally killed when he didn’t stop for police in the British subway.
Then there’s the outrage . . . oops, no outrage! . . . when the same, exact facts occur, but the tourists are Westerners and the “anti-terror police” are Muslims in a Muslim country.
Read this from the June 6, 2003 edition of the New York Times and ask, why no outrage here?
INDONESIA: TOURISTS SHOT IN ACEH
Indonesian troops shot and killed a German tourist and wounded his wife in Aceh Province, where the government is battling a separatist insurgency. The 54-year-old man and his wife, 49, were shot while in the village of Lhok Gayo as troops investigated “suspicious flashlights” near a house, said a military spokesman, Lt. Col. Firdaus Komarno. The soldiers called out to the couple to identify themselves, but the pair did not respond, Colonel Komarno said. The troops then fired several warning shots, he said. (AP)
Where was the outrage when this happened? It was but a tiny blurb on a back-page of the times. That’s it. No network TV news reports. No liberal Air America crowing. No Muslim communities screaming. No Prime Minister of Indonesia issuing a prominent national apology. And no families of the dead threatening lawsuits.
In the War on Terror, there will always be double standards. We, Westerners, make a mistake, and everyone’s calling for our heads. Our leaders, media, liberal-left, and trial lawyers are beside themselves (with the media, leftists, and lawyers secretly gleeful that the War on Terror temporarily failed). They–Muslims–make a mistake, or murder deliberately, and it’s no biggie.

Everyone is all up in arms over the mistaken killing of the Brazilian man in the London subway, Jean Charles de Menezes. By “everyone,” I mean all the liberals, Islamists, and haters of our war on terror–the ones who think we should just lay down and die in the name of civil liberties.
But the fact is, the man lived in Britain for three years, and, reportedly, still DIDN’T SPEAK ENGLISH! That’s why he didn’t heed police calls to stop.
How is this related to Steven Spielberg?
He’s making a movie, “Munich,” which was previously called “Vengeance,” because–despite his denials–it’s based on the apocryphal Jonas book “Vengeance.” As I’ve written , , and , the message is that because ONE–ONLY ONE–innocent man was killed, Israeli Mossad agents, who successfully tracked down and killed all but one of the Munich terrorists who murdered Israeli athletes, should have never set forth on this mission. An absurd idea, but yet that’s the premise of Spielberg’s self-hating film.
Actors and advisors involved in the Spielberg propaganda project claim that the murder of one innocent (a Moroccan waiter in Norway) negated the whole operation. Revenge doesn’t work, said one. “Blood begets blood,” said another. Puh-leeze.
So maybe Spielberg should do a new movie, “Jean Charles de Menezes: How the West’s War on Terror Failed.”
Sorry, but wars involve the deaths of innocent people. Innocent people died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and elsewhere. But innocent Americans died in Pearl Harbor, and so did 11 million innocents in the Nazi death camps. Should we have stayed silent and done nothing? No. Innocent Israeli athletes (including an American) died in Munich in 1972. Innocent people died on 9/11 and on 7/7, and might have on 7/21.
One innocent man’s death in a subway–that was attacked 6 times in two weeks–doesn’t mean fighting the war on terror is a mistake. It only reinforces its necessity.

Many mistaken prognosticators and ignorant pundits wrongly claim that Egypt was attacked because it “made peace with Israel” or is “a moderate state.”
WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
Sharm El-Sheikh was, not too long ago, part of Israel. It was land gained in war–war in which Israel was attacked by Egypt. Many Israeli soldiers died over this land. But, as usual, myopic liberals in Israel gave it back–in the name of a phony “peace”–to Egypt, which used it as a resort town–just like Israel did, after Jews reclaimed the land and made it into what it is, today (yes, in this way, Jews were, once again, slaves in Egypt, if unwittingly).
But it doesn’t end there. Israelis didn’t just give it up to Egyptians, they also frequently vacationed there–they were the bulk of Sharm El-Sheikh’s tourists and patrons (though you don’t see the reverse: Egyptian tourists travelling to and spending money in Israel at Jewish establishments. Fuhgedaboutit.)
And that’s why Sharm El-Sheikh was attacked–to kill as many Jewish Israeli tourists as possible. This was NOT against Egypt. It was against Jews.
***UPDATE: One of the commenters to this post, a self-described Israeli woman, has twice written criticisms of my writings, and has been wrong both times, including her comment on this post. (The other criticism was that because I’d written that, once, the FBI got something right–by monitoring anti-war protestors, I am somehow not enough of a critic of the FBI–when I’ve written THREE New York Post columns attacking the agency.)
The fact is, many Israelis vacationed at Sharm El Sheikh. It is a well-known Israeli vacation destination. But since she raised doubt about this elementary fact, here are a few media sources that back me up and prove her incorrect, yet again:
From the Associated Press: “Saturday’s explosions – the deadliest attack in Egypt in nearly a decade – shook windows more than five miles away. Smoke and fire rose from Naama Bay, a main strip of beach hotels in the desert city at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, which is also popular with European and Israeli tourists, witnesses said.”
From CTV (Canada): “Sharm el-Sheik has become a major player in Egypt’s thriving tourism industry after expanding in recent years. It draws Europeans, Israelis, and Arabs from oil-producing Gulf nations and has been host to multiple summits for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.”

The Great Raid–a must see for all Americans. Screened it, today. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT! Cannot say enough good things about it. It’s about the rescue of U.S. POWs in Cabanatuan, Philippines, tortured by the Japanese, during World War II.
Most of the film’s actors were very talented unknowns, excluding leads Benjamin Bratt and Joseph Fiennes (both of whom were also first-rate). Even former male stripper, Mr. Kelly Ripa, was good. Glad that Filipinos–many of whom risked their lives for our soldiers and were murdered for it–get the credit they deserve for their heroic bravery in helping American POWs. Most Americans remain unaware of this, and “The Great Raid” will help correct that. Mina, the courageous Filipino woman in the movie, reminds me of my friend, Michelle Malkin.
American soldiers in the movie–all of whom existed in real life–were of all backgrounds. They had Irish (Riley, Foley, O’Grady), Hispanic (Guttierez), Italian (Mucci), and Jewish (Cohen, Friedberg, Katz) names. For you feminists, there is even a female hero, Margaret Utinsky, a nurse who led a Filipino underground network to smuggle medicine to the POWs, helping keep them alive. (She received the Medal of Freedom.)
Dialoguists, like , really need to see this–so they’ll learn what real patriots do to serve their country. They fight the enemy to death, not worship the ground they slither on. (Assuming Abu Moskowitz is a patriot, a big–and likely fallacious–assumption.)
Added Bonus, Respect for (non-Muslim) Religion: While rare enough to have such a patriotic movie coming out of Hollywood (especially at this time), there is another rarity: a positive portrayal of religion. In this movie, religious Catholicism, its adherents and clerics, are shown in a positive light. Especially important, since all religions (except Islam, the only religion liberals and showbiz types love to love) are regularly trashed on the big screen.

If you’re an illegal immigrant, alien smuggler, terrorist, or money launderer anywhere near Michigan or Ohio, today is the day to commit your crime and get away with it. If you’re a taxpayer anywhere in America, today is yet another day that Homeland Security is wasting your money on beer-guzzling parties, instead of keeping you safe.
Today, Michigan and Ohio Homeland Security agents will be busy protecting the rest of us–at a mandatory barbecue and volleyball training session at Michigan’s Selfridge military base, while criminals and illegal aliens are free to do illegally as they wish, unfettered. That’s the latest “Homeland Security” project of a/k/a Abu Moskowitz, Special Agent in Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for Michigan and Ohio.
Those billions in taxes you paid in the name of fighting terrorists are really going to fund beers and hot dogs, while Homeland Security chieftain Moskowitz and his agents “guard” the perimeter Selfridge golf course, volleyball courts, and inland beach from terrorists and other malefactors. Of course, none of Moskowitz’s agents want to be there. They want to do REAL law enforcement work (most of which Moskowitz has shut down, if it’s Muslim-related)–or enjoy their hard-earned vacations (all of which Moskowitz suddenly cancelled for the purpose of attending this questionable confab). Morale could not be lower, and the best agents want to quit.
They question why ICE, which Moskowitz “runs,” has no money for pens and files for opening new cases on money laundering, terrorist funding, drug dealing, and illegal immigration (or even adequate oil changes for agents’ “G” cars). Yet, there is plenty of taxpayer dollars to improperly spend for Moskowitz to party at this summer barbecue, while illegal immigrants, money launderers, etc. can do as they wished, unimpeded.
In the past, I’ve written about Abu Moskowitz, and how he’s too busy and during the business day, to worry about illegal immigrants (), illegal drugs, money laundering, and counterfeit goods connected to Islamic terrorists. I’ve also written about how he’s allowed an Islamic terrorist to for new agents, and how an alleged sex offender/child molester and a drunk-driving prostitute patron –both of whom will be at today’s Homeland Security picnic.
The only “substantial” thing Abu Moskowitz has done, of late, was at the All-Star Game (to get his name on ESPN.com–more on that, next week). Don’t you feel safe now that t-shirts featuring an Old English letter “D” are off the streets, to keep them from terrorizing your children?
Rest assured, the hot dogs are good, and so is the mustard. The investigation of illegal aliens, drug dealers, and Islamic terrorists, not so much. Unless they just happen to be among those enjoying a Heineken at Selfridge, today. Fat chance.
Hey Abu Moskowitz, this Bud’s for you. Kumbaya!
***UPDATE: I was contacted by one of Moskowitz’s Ohio ICE agents, Saturday. While they were invited to the day-long, tax-funded Moskowitz party at Selfridge military base in Michigan, he tells me that–unlike all of the Michigan-based ICE agent, for whom attending and partying with Abu Moskowitz was mandatory (all vacation and work was cancelled)–they did not attend. “NO ONE from Ohio attended the mandatory festivities, we were all busy protecting the homeland!” Glad to hear it. But that assumes that, unlike his behavior in Michigan, Abu Moskowitz has not shut down most Ohio investigations into Islamic terrorism funding, illegal Islamic immigration, etc.

Remember “King Ralph,” the 1991 movie, in which a working-class American suddenly becomes a British royal, due to a distant line of succession? Well, life imitates art, yet again.
Bill Capell, a real life “Ralph Jones,” is next in line to become Earl of Essex. Capell, a retired Yuba City, California grocery clerk, is considering it and whether he and his wife wasnt to move to England and renounce their U.S. citizenship.
I thought “King Ralph’s” premise was far-fetched. But, 14 years later, Bill Capell proved me wrong. Though, I’m sure Capell is not a slob, like John Goodman’s “Ralph.”

Hmmm . . . What a coincidence! Terrorist group Islamic Jihad’s latest effort is a mass wedding, very cozy and intimate–with 200 brides and bridegrooms (all the better to get it done quickly so future terrorist breeding can begin). It reminds us of another group that frequently engages in these small, quiet affairs–the Moonies, followers of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his Unification Church. Islamic Jihad and the Moonies have something else in common. Both mindless cults–even if one is much more peaceful than the other.
No word on whether there was a mass “civilized” display of the blood-stained sheets (common to Islamic weddings)–to prove that future jihadist conception had begun (didn’t make the AP Photo cut, apparently).
Then, there’s Alisa Flatow, one of Islamic Jihad’s victims and one of the many American victims of Palestinian terrorism. She’ll never get to have a wedding–mass or otherwise. Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad founder and chief, Sami Al-Arian, who planned the bus attack on Flatow and others, remains on trial.

Saudi Ambassador to the U.S., Prince Bandar–a bad guy, is now being replaced by a worse guy, Prince Turki (full name: Prince Turki Ibn Al-Faisal Al-Saud), who was head of Saudi Intelligence (that means he likely personally killed some people).
According to the Financial Times, Turki headed Bin Laden’s Saudi Arabian Al-Qaeda recruitment efforts. He was named in a lawsuit filed by 9/11 victims’ survivors, as a financier of Al-Qaeda, but a State Dept.-style judge ruled Turki had diplomatic immunity. Turki negotiated agreements with Bin Laden giving him and Qaeda financial support, in return for Bin Laden’s promise that terrorism would be limited to other countries, and that he would not directly target the ruling Al Saud family (of which Turki is a prominent member). His sister, Princess Haifa Al-Faisal, paid rent for two of the 9/11 hijackers, Khalid Al-Midhar and Nawaf Al-Hazmi. And, of course, being the loyal bro that he is, Prince Turki defended her.

Last night, I attended a screening of “The Island,” in theaters, Friday. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor, the movie has a strong pro-life message. Humans are cloned for body parts–and to get the body parts, the clones are killed. Thankfully, the film’s message is that this is wrong, and that those who support this cloning are just garden-variety, calculating murderers. For once, Hollywood makes a major-budget silver-screener with a pro-life theme (if unwittingly).

But the more interesting point of the movie is that Steve Yzerman and the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings have moved to Los Angeles. Yes, that’s the message you’d get, if you pay attention to the chase scenes set in Downtown L.A. They were shot in Detroit, and producers didn’t do a very good job of obscuring the mural of Steve Yzerman in full Red Wing regalia. So much for Hollywood “make-believe.”
On the other hand, with the new NHL agreement in place complete with a tight salary cap, Yzerman’s return to Detroit is uncertain. Perhaps an unwitting showbiz omen? Only if Yzerman is around and skating in the year 2050, the movie’s setting.
