Spencer Abraham: Bush’s Dangerous Energy Secretary

By

Since the Blackout of 2003, he’s gotten lots of TV face time. But should U.S. energy policy be entrusted to Spencer Abraham?

In 2000, President Bush said his Cabinet would “look like America,” nominating Abraham, the defeated Lebanese-American Senator from Michigan, to Energy Secretary–part of the Bush strategy targeting the Arab vote.

But was this political strategy in the best interest of the country? Abraham’s record suggests otherwise.

Darrell Issa: Terrorism’s Manchurian Candidate

By

I’m a proud conservative Republican from Michigan, but I’m appealing to Californians of all political stripes not to support the recall of Gov. Gray Davis.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista)–funder of the recall effort and the only announced candidate to replace Davis–might be the contemporary, real-life version of Frank Sinatra’s “Manchurian Candidate.” Instead of communists, Issa’s allies are radical Islamists and supporters of terrorism against Americans, Israelis, Christians and Jews.

The Moore the Scarier

He Calls Bush, Cheney, and Ashcroft the “real axis of evil.” He blamed 9-11 attacks on too many White people and not enough Black men on the planes.

And in his Oscar Night diatribe, film-maker Michael Moore used his win of an Academy Award to rant against a “fictitious” President Bush, “fictitious election results,” and the War on Iraq, which he claimed was for “fictitious reasons.”

Who Funded the Michigan Hate-Fest?

By

[Note: This article originally appeared in The Jerusalem Post on Monday, November 25, 2002.]

The recent Second Annual Palestinian Students Divestment Conference at the University of Michigan is over, but the real story is who paid for it.

In addition to university buildings, paid for by taxpayers, and a stipend, paid for by Michigan students’ tuition, the conference of anti-Semitic, anti-American hate speakers, including Islamic Jihad founder Sami Al-Arian, was funded by some frightening sources.

These include:

The Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP)

Funded in part by $490,000 from the personal bank account of Hamas political director Moussa Abu Marzouk, IAP is a Hamas front-group, which distributed the Hamas charter, official Hamas intifada communiques issued from Gaza, and Hamas glory records, which are tributes to Hamas’s “violent successes.” IAP also produces Hamas training and recruitment videos.

IAP’s finances are entwined with those of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), which in December 2001 the US government shut down and froze the assets of, saying that it finances Hamas.

In a March 1991 fund-raising letter, IAP urged its members to send funds to HLF (then called the Occupied Land Fund) to support efforts to liberate “Palestine” through the intifada. According to the Dallas Morning News, “Public records, materials from the two groups [IAP and HLF]… show a pattern of personal, financial and philosophical ties between Hamas and the two nonprofit groups.”

In December 2001, federal authorities deported IAP leader Ghassan Dahduli on immigration violations. Dahduli’s name was found in the address book of Wadih El-Hage, Osama bin Laden’s former finance chief and personal secretary, who was convicted in the 1998 bombings of two American embassies in East Africa.

IAP and HLF are co-defendants in a civil lawsuit filed in 2000 by the parents of David Boim, an American teenager murdered by Hamas in Israel in 1996. The suit cites the financial connections between IAP and the Holy Land Foundation, such as shared board members and joint projects.

The Muslim Community Association of Ann Arbor (MCA)

This is the mosque of Rabih Haddad, now in jail awaiting trial because the charity he founded, Global Relief Foundation (GRF), funded terrorism and was involved with al-Qaida. On October 18, through Executive Order No. 13224, President George W. Bush designated GRF, the second largest US Islamic charity, as a terrorist entity.

In 1996 and 1997, GRF officials had contact with El-Hage. Mohammed Zouaydi, a key al-Qaida financier with ties to the Hamburg cell that carried out the 9/11 attacks, gave $211,000 in cash to GRF and funneled $600,000 to al-Qaida operations around the world.

An Illinois post-office box used by GRF, registered in Haddad’s name, sent out Arabic GRF newsletters that urged “martyrdom through jihad.”

Soliciting contributions to GRF, the literature sent from Haddad’s PO box advocated the violent ouster of former Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto and “the emergence of a Pakistani Taliban Movement to remedy the situation.”

It also sought donations “for equipping the raiders, for the purchase of ammunition” for the jihad. Haddad also distributed messages from Abdallah Azzam, bin Laden’s and al-Qaida’s spiritual leader.

The Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS)

ACCESS may be the most frightening funder of the conference because its chief, Ismael Ahmed, is running for University of Michigan regent in the November elections. And because American tax dollars fund his organization American tax dollars which he then used to pay for this hateful conference.

According to its latest annual report, in 2001, ACCESS got at least 73.6% of its $10.2 million annual revenue from taxpayers. ACCESS, North America’s largest Arab welfare agency, funded commercial driving lessons and attempts to get hazardous-materials hauling certificates for Ahmed Hannan and Karim Koubriti, members of Detroit’s recently indicted al-Qaida cell. When confronted by the press, ACCESS chief and Michigan regent candidate Ahmed dismissed their al-Qaida membership as a mere “political credential.”

After 9/11, ACCESS organized and publicized in The Detroit News a campaign against universities cooperating with federal agents trying to find foreign students linked to terrorism.

ACCESS, which thinks nothing of funding the anti-Semitic hate conference in Ann Arbor, was paid $1.3m. to provide “sensitivity training” to the Dearborn Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, and Dearborn and Detroit Public Schools. Ahmed also opposed the Clinton Counter-terrorism Act of 1996 because it prohibited donations to terrorist groups, including Hizbullah and Hamas.

Everyone should be concerned not just with the hate and support for terrorism that went on at the University of Michigan Divestment Conference, but with who is funding it not only those closely associated with al-Qaida and Hamas, but unwitting American taxpayers themselves. Hopefully they will keep that in mind, as they go to the polls to hold accountable legislators who freely gave American tax money to ACCESS, and an irresponsible U-M Regent candidate, Ahmed the man who misused their money to foment hate and support terrorism.

Corporate Corruption at 7-11?

By

While Enron, Worldcom, and even AOL Time Warner are under investigation for corporate corruption, 7-11 is what most corporate America is really about.

Though 7-11 is celebrating its 75th anniversary, this year, you won’t hear much about the purveyor of Slurpees and other American conveniences, in the media. They’re not interested.

That’s because 7-11, like most American corporations, is not dishonest or corrupt. It’s the world’s largest convenience retailer, but not the big, bad corporation reporters love to hate. It’s not using Arthur Andersen to hide expenditures and stock options to fattened CEOs, while abusing Ma and Pa investor. No. Like most businesses, 7-11 is more concerned with providing the latest conveniences and contemporary products to make life easier and more inexpensive for consumers increasingly on the go.

Cuppa Joe or Cuppa Jihad: While Muslims Boycott Starbucks, You Should Boycott Caribou Coffee

By
You’d be surprised that your morning cup of coffee is tied to terrorism.
But for Americans who buy coffee–or anything else–at Caribou Coffee, their “Cuppa Joe” is tied to the Muslim brotherhood, the Muslim boycott of the West, and a bunch of Saudi Sheiks.

Caribou is closely tied to a prominent religious Muslim leader, Dr. Yusuf (a/k/a Youssef) Abdullah Al-Qaradawi, who said, “Now we see our brothers and children in Al-Aqsa and the blessed land of Palestine generously sacrificing their blood, giving their souls willingly in the way of Allah. All Muslims must help them with whatever power they have.”

WNBA: Sports’ Bearded Lady Sideshow Re-infests

By

Have you ever fantasized about manly 6-foot-5 women slogging up and down a wooden floor with a striped ball?

Unless you’re the reincarnated Dudley Moore or addicted to bizarre “Big Beautiful Women” sites, probably not.

But whether or not you want to watch, that Waste of National Broadcast Airtime, the WNBA, is baaaack for yet another season, it’s sickest-I mean, sixth.

Starbucks, YES; France, NON!

By

Want to fight terrorism and anti-Semitism, while enjoying a beverage?

Then, buy Starbucks. And boycott the French, for that matter.

Howard Schultz, founder and CEO of Starbucks, has repeatedly seen his company come under criticism and boycotts from the radical left fringe. And he’s beaten each one.
But now, a group of American Muslims–which supports terrorism and homicide bombers–has started a new Starbucks boycott.

Why? Their “Global Action Alert” alleges Mr. Schultz incited violence against Palestinians in a speech to a Seattle area synagogue. But they provided no actual quotes, because there was absolutely no “inciteful language” in Schultz’s speech.

The campaign is a lie. Plain and simple, it is just another form of anti-Semitism. The Muslims just can’t handle that one of America’s most outspoken, principled, and successful CEOs is proudly Jewish, pro-Israel, and not afraid to say so.

Will America Be the Next France?

By

11/08/05–When I wrote this May 2002 column on France and its radical Muslim population resulting from uncontrolled borders, I predicted violence worse than the wildings in Central Park. Unfortunately, over the last two weeks, French Muslims from North Africa proved me correct, 3.5 years later. The column is as newsworthy today as it was then–perhaps more so.

Will America be the next France-and become a radical Muslim country?

Or will it remain the home of the free and the brave?

That depends upon whether you agree with President Bush or Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Colorado) on immigration.

Bush wants to open the floodgates and Tancredo wants real reform.

Bush wants amnesty for all illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. – to grant them citizenship. This will be the last time, he promises. We’ve heard this before. In the ’80s, Congress passed identical illegal immigrant amnesty legislation. That was the last time they’d ever do it. They promised. But now is really the last, last time. Or so they claim, until the next time, which will be the last, last, last time. And so on.

Kentucky Derby’s Terrorist Sheiks

By
You might think an event that commences with the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home” wouldn’t be home to supporters of terrorism.

But you would be wrong.

In fact, in Saturday’s 128th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, two of the eighteen horses were owned by Arab oil sheiks with more than a little connection to terrorism–despite strict Islamic prohibitions against gambling and taking part in gambling.

There is Dubai’s Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.

Al-Maktoum, Defense Minister of the United Arab Emirates, is also Crown Prince of Dubai-an Arab Muslim country that strongly supported and recognized Afghanistan’s Taliban, one of only three countries to do so. According to “From the Desert to the Derby,” by Jason Levin, 10 of the 19 September 11th hijackers carried documents and identification from Dubai, a country which also has no laws against money-laundering. Why? Maybe, because money to fund September 11th’s terrorism was laundered to ringleader Mohammed Atta, directly from Dubai’s banks.
