THIS Should Sink Julie Myers, ICE Princess in Waiting

By
We got quite an interesting tip about , President Bush’s unqualified nominee to head up ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). If true, it should sink her nomination . . . for good.
According to the latest U.S. News and World Report, Julie Myers, currently a White House employee and Assistant to the President, gave out “White House . . . trinkets” as favors for her out-of-town wedding guests. We repeat: It appears that the ICE Princess used tax-funded White House “trinkets” for her own personal use.
Are you listening, ?
USN&WR’s “Washington Whispers” writers Thomas Omestad and Julian E. Barnes say: “Friends tell us that out-of-town guests to her Georgetown wedding last month received cute gift baskets filled with White House and city trinkets.”

Martha Stewart Wanna-be or Immigration Chief:

Did Julie Myers use tax-funded trinkets for wedding favors?

We think it’s time for new hearings. And subpoena her wedding guest list, too. We’re sure she’ll come up with some phony excuse–like that she bought them on e-bay. . . or that they’re not “real” White House trinkets. We think some investigation is in order to find out the truth.
USN&WR claims Ms. Myers would make a great “social secretary” and “quite the party planner.” But heading up Immigration and Customs Enforcement takes more than a social secretary. It’s neither Jackie O’s salon nor Martha Stewart’s test kitchen. It’s the front line against foreign invasion and has nothing to do with making a good mocha torte.
Here’s the complete USN&WR Myers blurb:
Wedding Cake With a Side of Barney
If Bush personnel aide and embattled immigration and customs nominee Julie Myers doesn’t make it through the Senate confirmation process, she might have a future as the White House social secretary. We hear that Myers, 36, who appears to have cooled charges of cronyism and inexperience, is quite the party planner. Friends tell us that out-of-town guests to her Georgetown wedding last month received cute gift baskets filled with White House and city trinkets and ideas on how to entertain kids. The package included pictures of first pets Barney and Miss Beazley and the vice president’s dogs, Jackson and Dave. “Wow,” offered another recently married Bushie. “All my guests received was a piece of local fudge.”

Quick, Somebody Call the Moroccan ACLU

By
What, you mean the “A” in ACLU stands for American?! (You could have fooled me–and the rest of America.)
Damn. Because someone needs to call the ACLU about Morocco. Moroccan authorities began deporting almost 1,000 African illegal immigrants from Morocco back to Senegal and Mali. And no-one noticed, but for a tiny blurb on the back pages of USA Today (which ISN’T in its online version).
Gee, I don’t hear a single far-leftist ACLU’er (oops, redundant!) complaining about civil rights, profiling, and the need for “fairer” immigration policy in Morocco.
Nope. That’s because Morocco is a MUSLIM and ARAB country. It is judged by different standards than America, where we must be pure angels who bend over (backward or forward–take your pick) for our enemies. America . . . the land of “voluntary” PC-shoved invasion.
And the Moroccans used force on the Africans. Gee, where are the Abu Ghraib/Gitmo “human rights” police? They take the day off when Americans or non-Muslims aren’t the “aggressors,” apparently.
UN Scammer-General Kofi Annan is urging the international community to “resolve economic problems” driving the African migration to Morocco. Funny, I don’t hear Kookoo Kofi trying to resolve “economic problems” that drive Islamist immigration into America. Radical Muslims, okay; Africans, bad. But he’s not racist, right?

HOprah Watch: Oprah to Use Show, $$ to Change Laws

By
Another disturbing development involving the “Queen” of daytime talk.
On today’s episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Oprah announced that she will use her money and her show to change laws to make them stricter in locking up molesters and abusers of women and children. She vowed to go “state by state . . . to change the laws.”
This is particularly disturbing. Yes, we agree that molesters and abusers should be locked up. But this is Oprah’s step into a new level of political activism that should frighten all Americans.
Oprah is very powerful. She can make a book into a best-seller, ruin the beef market by saying she “ain’t never gonna eat another burger” (and get away with it in court), and make an item a huge market success by designating it as one of “Oprah’s favorite things.”

Scary: Islamofascist Oprah Spending Big $s to Change Laws

(Photo/artwork courtesy of Preston Taylor Holmes of Six Meat Buffet)

As we’ve detailed on this site, . She is far-left in almost every other way, too. Her brand of radical chic is scary, because there is no check on it.
Tougher laws on molesters and abusers, today. Shariah, anti-male feminism, or some other PC laws tomorrow?
Either way, Oprah should be forced to register herself as a political action committee or IRS Section 527 group. And she must make full disclosure of her spending and activities–like every other American or political entity.
We’re watching to see that the Federal Election Commission and similar state entities enforce the laws regarding political spending when Oprah is involved. And perhaps she should think of registering as a lobbyist, too.
The Federal Communications Commission should consider her show to be the daily one-hour political campaign commercial she’s now announced it will be–and restrict it accordingly.
Just one more reason why we acquired the domain name, Oprah Sucks!

ICE Removes Article After Schlussel Critique

By
After we posted of an item about a top immigration official’s deceitful speech to the first ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agent graduating class, ICE scrambled to remove the item from its website.
No matter, though. We made a copy of the item about ICE Director of Investigations Marcy Forman-Friedman’s speech to new ICE agent grads.
Here it is:
First Class To Graduate With ICE Special Agent Badges And Credentials
On Thursday, October 6, 2005, the first ICE Special Agent (ICE SAT) class to receive the new ICE badges and credentials graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. Marcy Forman, Director of the Office of Investigations gave the keynote address at this historic commencement. Director Forman shared with the graduates highlights from her 25 year career in law enforcement and discussed the important role of ICE Special Agents in the Global War on Terror. She reminded them that no other law enforcement agency possesses such broad legal and investigative authority and she told them that while they would face many challenges along the way, their careers would be rewarding.

Immigration Boss Lies to First ICE Agent Grads

By
Before the creation of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), I was one of the biggest cheerleaders of the Customs Service and its Operation Greenquest–led by Marcy Forman-Friedman. Here’s a transcript of one of the many such kudos I heaped on Customs and Greenquest (this one from a June 2002 appearance on ABC’s “Politically Incorrect“).
But I’m no longer such a fan of Forman a/k/a Peppermint Patty, now Director of Investigations of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), an agency that was and is a huge bureaucratic mistake.
Today’s homepage of the ICE website has an interesting item about Forman’s speech to the first graduating class of ICE agents, entitled, “First Class To Graduate With ICE Special Agent Badges And Credentials.”
Ironically, we in August that a brilliant, trusted ICE agent friend relayed to us his rightful consternation regarding language on the new ICE badges and credentials–or rather language that is missing. The old Customs agent credentials bore this language, now absent from the ICE credentials:
THIS OFFICER POSSESSES INTEGRITY AND IS WORTHY OF TRUST AND CONFIDENCE.”

Minus INTEGRITY, TRUST =

Why?: Integrity, Trust, Confidence Missing From New ICE Badge

We’ve since asked ICE press chief, Dean Boyd, why the language was deleted. He was nonplussed, and to date, he has failed to provide an answer.
The ICE website item regarding the new ICE graduates states that Forman “gave the keynote address at this historic commencement.”
Historic? Perhaps only in the sadness of the mess that is ICE–an agency with conflicting and aimless undefined missions–created to give then-ICE head Michael Garcia, and soon the , a job.
“Director Forman shared with the graduates highlights from her 25 year career in law enforcement and discussed the important role of ICE Special Agents in the Global War on Terror.” (Was one of the highlights?)
Really? ICE plays a role in the Global War on Terror? Did Peppermint Patty miss the memo that her then-boss Tom Ridge signed a Memorandum of Understanding with then-Attorney General Ashcroft taking all terrorism-related cases away from Homeland Security and Customs/ICE (as I wrote in this which appeared in the New York Post)? Hmmm . . . . Was she too busy with Charlie Brown and the gang to notice that Operation Greenquest (the successful Customs operation SHE headed against terrorism financing and money-laundering) was shut down?
These days, the only connection with the Global War on Terror that ICE seems to have is Michigan and Ohio Special Agent In Charge ‘s” close “relationship” with “former” PFLP terrorist and FBI Award Revokee . Oh, and there’s Abu Mosque-owitz’s little .
Minus INTEGRITY, TRUST =

Forman: Why did ICE Investigations chief lie to new agents about relinquished terror mission?

Forman “reminded them [the new ICE agents] that no other law enforcement agency possesses such broad legal and investigative authority.” See above re-Memo of Understanding. Most of Customs’ former authority has been ceded to a lesser known agency called the FBI. ICE now has a very narrow, nebulous mission, and no-one seems to know what it is. None of the many agents, who’ve contacted me, do.
“She told them that . . . their careers would be rewarding.” So rewarding that many veteran, skilled ICE agents–whether legacy INS or Customs–are quitting.
So rewarding that Peppermint Patty, herself, is trying to high-tail it out of ICE Headquarters before the gets there to make things even worse.

On Immigration, The Arizona Republic Calls Me A . . .

By
Member of the “who’s who of the national anti-illegal immigration army.”
Yes, that’s what Arizona Republic columnist Richard Ruelas–who sounds like he may be just a tad pro-illegal immigration–called me in its yesterday edition.
Regardless of the motives of the writer, it’s, indeed, an honor to be named in the company of Congressman Tom Tancredo, Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies, and Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

USA Today’s Bizarre Editorial Priorities (Ballroom Dancing)

By
So glad that USA Today has its priorities straight about problems facing the nation. Today, for example, its op-ed page is occupied by this important piece: “High Hopes for Ballroom Dancing.”
Yes, with gas prices sky-rocketing, unqualified nominees to head up and , war in Iraq, hurricane damage raising prices everywhere and costing taxpayers gazillions, USA Today has decided that a piece discussing “Dancing With the Stars”–by the “author of an adult football novel”–was THE issue worthy of almost the entire op-ed page, today.
What–no Kelly Monaco Playboy lay-out?

Kelly Monaco: What USA Today Editorials and Playboy Have in Common

The author writes, “Pop culture is embracing the craze [of ballroom dancing]. Next up, the Olympics. (Hey, can’t a guy dream?)”
Actually, the only “guys” that dream of ballroom dancing in the Olympics are the ones whose favorite song is by “The Weathergirls.”

Leon Klinghoffer: Important Anniversary Hardly Remembered

By
Recently, Lisa Klinghoffer e-mailed me about an important anniversary: the murder of her father, Leon Klinghoffer, by Islamic terrorists.
20 years ago, this past Saturday (October 8), Leon Klinghoffer–a helpless 69-year-old in a wheelchair on a cruise ship–was cruelly murdered for the dual crimes of being a Jew and an American. He and his wife were taking the cruise to celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary. After hijacking the ship, cowardly Palestinian terrorists assassinated Klinghoffer by gunshot and threw his body overboard, a plot masterminded by Abu Abbas.

Leon Klinghoffer: American Hero in Life & Death

Here’s what one of many, who’ve written posthumous notes to Klinghoffer over the years through a cemetery website, wrote:
“You are a model of courage and strength for all of us to be proud of. You did not bow to the animal terrorists that took your life, but you, instead, showed them your true bravery, strength, and proudness.”
Unlike Klinghoffer, Abbas led a great life and was never punished. He was allowed to live in freedom–under the protection of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. He died in captivity shortly after U.S. troops captured him during the start of the War in Iraq. Abbas never faced justice.
Writes Lisa Klinghoffer: “We tried hard all these years to have him brought to justice. When he was caught, we tried to have him brought here to be tried for the Murder of my father, but, alas, he eluded us again and died in prison. If you ask me, he didn’t suffer enough!!!!!!!!!”
AMEN, Lisa!
An Egyptian jet tried to fly the Islamic hijacker-murderers to freedom, but U.S. Navy F-14 fighters intercepted it and forced it to land in Sicily. Now, however, there is word–through an FBI informant (whom I represented)–that the U.S. government may have shamefully allowed one of Klinghoffer’s murderers to live in freedom in the Washington, DC area, under an assumed name–“in exchange for information on Al Qaeda.” No information is enough to justify freedom (or even life) for any of Klinghoffer’s murderers.
When I wrote about the 20th anniversary of the torture murder of Navy diver by Hezbollah terrorists, Lisa reminded me: “October 8th is the 20 year anniversary of the murder of our father, Leon Klinghoffer, aboard the Achille Lauro. For us, it is so hard to believe that it has been 20 years, and just look what has gone on in the world since!!!!!!!!”
Indeed.
In a few cases where Klinghoffer’s murder was “remembered,” it was nauseating. Despicable Brit John Adams created an “opera” about the murder of Klinghoffer, denigrating him and glorifying his Palestinian Islamic murderers. Here’s what a smart Aussie reviewer said about the film adaptation of this outrage:
“Nails scratched across a blackboard. The sound of a dentist’s drill. Plucking nose hairs with a pair of tweezers. All painful experiences but not a patch on watching this torturous two-hour[s].”
Lisa is right. It’s not just that we haven’t remembered Klinghoffer and his murder with proper attention and resolve. It’s that in the 20 years since his murder, we have empowered radical Muslims and the terrorists they support–the same ones who murdered her innocent, disabled father and threw him overboard. And now we are being asked–in our schools, our popular culture, our government policy–to “understand” them.
Klinghoffer’s murderers weren’t Christians. And they weren’t from Samoa or Fiji, either. They were Arab Muslims. The same group we keep denying is after us, today.
WAKE UP, AMERICA!
***UPDATE:
I received the following touching e-mail from Lisa Klinghoffer in response to the blogpost I wrote above:
Dear Debbie,
Thank you so much! It has been a tough time for me this past week. We went to the cemetery and cried. I have tried to be so brave and stoic over the years and do the work that we do in Leon’s honor and memory. But sometimes, I just have “a moment,” and all families have to go through the same, as we do.
Thanks for remembering. I mean that’s what it’s all about: to remember and to educate so that perhaps one day ……….
Thanks,
Lisa Klinghoffer

Famous But Incompetent: FBI To Allow Stoner Agents

By
Last week, we wrote about how ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)–the agency that is SUPPOSED to be enforcing immigration laws– to serve food to ICE agents in New Orleans.
Now comes word that the FBI–which still is quite involved in fighting the war on drugs–is considering relaxing its rules for illegal drug users who wish to work for the FeeBs.
Don’t be surprised if, one day, there’s a knock at your door from Special Agent Jeff Spicoli. All he needs are some tasty waves, a cool buzz . . . and a badge and gun.

Federal Bureau of Inhalers?

The current rules need no relaxing. They prohibit hiring anyone who’s used marijuana in the previous 3 years, or coke or heroin in the last 10.
Is there such a dearth of good FBI applicants that diluting the pool with druggies would make it so much more improved? I don’t think so.
The proposed new rules would judge applicants on their “whole person.” Now, why does this sound like the absurdly imbalanced affirmative action hiring and admissions policies we see elsewhere?
So, if you are a cokehead, but an excellent Arabic linguist and devout Muslim, I hear there’s someone at the J. Edgar Hoover Building eagerly awaiting your application.
While they’re at it, why don’t they relax the rules for other crimes like rape and murder? Oops! I almost forgot. According to a study the FBI did on itself–and Senator Grassley had to drag out of them–the agency has already dropped those as impediments to hiring.
Read about some of the other outrageous crimes FBI agents have committed (with some being allowed to stay ON THE JOB) here. This agency gets way more respect than it merits.

Absurd: Federal Agents’ Prez “Praises” ICE Princess, Disses Fellow Agents

By
Question: Why did Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association President Art Gordon diss the thousands of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents he purports to represent?
And why did he diss a courageous fellow officer of his organization and praise –the woman picked to head up ICE, who EVERYONE knows is ?
We wish we knew the answer.
Friday, Gordon wrote a letter to the editor in The Washington Times that dissed “the statements made by one FLEOA member regarding the nomination of Julie L. Myers [which] do not accurately represent the official position FLEOA has taken on this important nomination.”

Gordon: Out of Touch + Inept (Chertoff) = Completely Unqualified (ICE Princess)

That “one FLEOA member” is not just any federal agent. He’s Gordon’s fellow FLEOA officer, Matthew Issman–FLEOA’s National Legislative VP (a marked improvement over ICE Special Agent in Charge a/k/a “Abu Moskowitz” who held that office in 2000). And ICE agents cheered on his comments in The Washington Times, with Issman questioning Myers’ qualifications. Issman is a career ICE agent, who knows what he’s talking about. Gordon is not (he works for ATF).
I’ve received many, many e-mail messages and communications from ICE agents, and NOT A SINGLE ONE has been in favor of Myers or in praise of her “credentials.” Clearly, Issman is in touch with the view of former Customs and INS agents who disagree on many things but are united in opposition to this career cronyatrix, the ICE princess in waiting. Gordon is not.
Gordon BS’ed as follows: “I believe there is great promise in her nomination. I now know that Mrs. Myers is acutely aware of the issues currently facing ICE, and I believe she possesses the necessary ability to deal with them.”
Puh-leeze. Gordon doesn’t believe any of this, and his ICE agent members definitely don’t. Even Myers (who, by the way, is “Mrs. Wood,” not “Mrs. Myers”) admitted in Senate hearings that she is NOT “acutely [or even mildly] aware of the issues currently facing ICE” and that she’d need constant hand-holding by the current incompetent leadership therein. On that, I believe her.
Questions for Gordon: What are Myers’ five strongest management credentials that have prepared her for such a high level management position? How many beats has she walked? How many investigations has she done? How many surveillances has she conducted? Does she even know how to use a firearm?
So what’s up with Gordon? Clearly, failed Homeland Security chief and guest-worker cheerleader Michael Chertoff (Myers’ former boss and now boss to her current husband) got to him. But Chertoff is not one of Gordon’s constituents. The thousands of ICE agents are.
He’s committing malpractice against them. As did the seven partisan Republicans who voted for the ICE Princess’ nomination in a committee hearing on Friday.
Gordon’s willingness to start a federal agent catfight over the ICE Princess is just a tad unseemly.
If the leader of the nation’s more than 23,000 federal agents doesn’t have any backbone, who does?
***UPDATE: I’m told by agents in the know that Gordon is no longer with the ATF, but is now with the TSA. I guess he needs to update his bio at the FLEOA website, which–at this time–still says he is with ATF.
