Sen. Collins Puts Hold on Julie Myers Nomination – FOR NOW . . .

By
Today’s New York Daily News reports that Senator Susan Collins of Maine has put a hold on the nomination of to become Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security over ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
But don’t get your hopes up about this nomination being tabled. The liberal Collins, whose committee oversees the Myers appointment, told the NY Daily News, “I’m certainly inclined to support her.” Not a good sign.

Girls Club: Sen. Collins Still Supporting Unqualified Julie Myers

And the Daily News’ claim that Julie Myers is still on her honeymoon does not appear to be correct. Congressional Quarterly reported that , apparently to discuss ways to get this nomination through. My bet: The honeymoon excuse is a way to get her away from the controversy swirling around her lack of qualifications, in the hopes that mounting protests and opposition die down.
It’s feared this nomination will still be shoved through. Hopefully that’s not the case. Here’s what a commenter on this blog, who claims to have worked with Myers, :
Debbie:
You should really investigate Julie Myers’ prosecutorial record. She was only an AUSA for less than 2 yrs and never worked on anything more sophisticated than drug mule cases (where some poor fool swallows condoms filled w/Heroin to get past customs). – I know. I worked down the hall from her. Julie is nice enough, but she wasn’t that hard a worker and certainly shouldn’t be citing her stint as a Federal Prosecutor as giving her any relevant experience to run ICE.
Hopefully, we will hear more from this person with interesting insight into the real–and really unqualified–Julie Myers.
***UPDATE: Michelle Malkin points us to a Washington Times article by the intrepid Jerry Seper on more ICE agent dismay over Myers, specifically expressed by the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA).

5 Years Later: ICE’s Moskowitz Has Tie to Elian Debacle

By
Did you see last night’s shameless “60 Minutes” interview of Elian Gonzalez, five years later? Clearly, the boy has been brainwashed to the nth degree. You’d have to be brainwashed to call Fidel Castro your “friend” and “father.”
I blame CBS, “60 Minutes,” and left-wing reporter Bob Simon for helping perpetrate this farce of an interview/”report.” Simon let Elian go on and on about how he missed his father when he was in Miami. Reality Check: Elian’s parents were divorced, his mother was his sole caretaker, and he barely ever saw or even knew his father. Where was Bob Simon on this point?
Not surprisingly, my favorite federal agent, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Special Agent in Charge a/k/a “Abu Moskowitz,” has a connection to Elian Gonzalez and the outrageous kidnapping and transfer of this poor kid back to Communist Cuba.

Miami Vice: Abu Moskowitz Defended This

As we’ve noted, Abu Moskowitz has a above all others (even though he oversees the heart of Islamic America in a post-9/11 world). And apparently this started with the Elian seizure by federal agents in 2000. At the time, Abu Moskowitz–a Clintonista and liberal–was Legislative Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association. He was quoted in the Washington Post advocating the jack-booted kidnapping of Elian by Janet Reno-commandeered INS agents.
I’m sure Abu Moskowitz might feel differently if it were his child kidnapped into a life of hopeless Communism. But, perhaps not since he has reportedly welcomed one of the pro-tyrannists of our time–an –into his Bloomfield Hills home.

ICE Targets Latinos for Deportation, Muslims/Arabs for Recruitment–Abu Moskowitz Update

By
Here’s the latest about one of several continuing ICE crises that we doubt ICE sachem heir-apparent is up to repairing.
As we’ve , maybe ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)–the immigration arm of Homeland Security–should be called LICE, for Latino Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
At least, that’s the case for Michigan and Ohio, the dominions of a/k/a “Abu Moskowitz,” the ICE Special Agent in Charge, who insists on looking away at any mischief in the heart of Islamic America, and targets mostly Latinos. Special is the keyword in his case. We’ve recounted throughout, and yet, the man is still in charge here.
We’re told his boss, Marcy Forman-Friedman, ICE Director of Investigations, was in a snit over our mentioning her name on this site, so she’s taking revenge on America by keeping this man in a job–for now. We’re also told that even if she’d try to finally do something, catfighting ICE wannabe-chieftain and would stop her.
Last week, Abu Moskowitz continued this S.O.P.–consistent with above all others, especially Muslims–holding a weeklong special round-up of illegal aliens. And guess what? Dearborn (the heart of Islamic America) was off limits. Guess what else? The aliens rounded up were all Latinos–mostly female Latinas. If you are illegal and Middle Eastern, go back to what you were doing. Because, as we’ve noted, Abu Moskowitz is deliberately looking the other way.
Then, there is the ICE recruiting. Last week, Abu Moskowitz held a meeting and urged more “minority” recruiting. The impression agents got was not that Abu Moskowitz was talking about recruiting more female, Black, or Hispanic agents, but Arab Muslim agents.
This has been a goal of Abu Moskowitz for some time. When we his entree into the world of recruiting Arabic speaking agents, we mentioned how Abu Moskowitz asked his good buddy, “former” PFLP terrorist and eternal FBI award revokee to . Abu Moskowitz gave his two agent recruiters–one of whom, by the way, is Pakistani–the stack of Hamad-chosen candidates and “encouraged” them to push some of these candidates through the selection process. One of those candidates just so happened to be Hamad’s nephew.
When I wrote about this, Abu Moskowitz got so upset he had an ICE agent friend of mine call to try to propagandize me; one of his former agents, now DHS ethics investigator, Tyler Shoudy e-mailed me some nonsense; and then, Abu Moskowitz held a at Selfridge Air Base with hot dogs and burgers in an attempt to unify his agents (who mostly hate him) against me. I enjoyed hearing how my name was the focal point of his speech in the daylong festivities.
Nothing has changed, though.
Looks like Abu Moskowitz continues to repeat the same old patterns: arresting ONLY Latino illegal aliens in the heart of Islamic America; and pushing to recruit radical Muslim ICE agents. Moskowitz’s agents are frustrated. We wonder what Latino groups will say when this is brought to their attention. Perhaps they, too, should insist on a place at Abu Moskowitz’s crony table–and perhaps even an invitation to Abu Moskowitz’s home in swanky Bloomfield Hills, as “former” terrorist and FBI award revokee Hamad was reportedly extended.
9/11 happened. But some people never learn.

Domino: Worst Movie I’ve Ever Seen, Avoid at All Cost

By
Avoid the upcoming movie, “Domino,” at all cost.
This movie was extremely and gratuitously violent, sickening, disgusting, and disturbing. I’ve already had nightmares over it and its vile dismemberment scene. Another bait and switch ploy by Hollywood–marketing it as an adventure flick about a former supposed Ford model (funny, no one at Ford remembers her) who becomes a bounty hunter. This movie is anything but.
Vile, repulsive, depraved. You’ll thank me for the two-plus hours of your life you saved. Those who go to this horrid, nausea-inducing celluloid crap will wish they’d listened to me.
If there was a death penalty for defining deviancy, indecency, and violence down, the makers of and actors in this silver screen spittle would be immediately and deservedly executed. That includes: the producing Hadida and Scott brothers (yes, Ridley Scott and bro), actress Keira Knightley and has-beens Mickey Rourke, , Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green (“90210”)–desperate whores who would apparently take any part in any movie, no matter how vile.
What I’ve previously written about this movie’s porcine “actress” applies to this movie: We need a lot less, not Mo’.
When there is total anarchy in America, blame movies like this–if you’re still alive. Again, avoid this movie like the plague.

Absurd/Annoying Fat Chick News of the Week

By
As we’ve on this site, we object to the use of the politically correct euphemism “plus-size,” when it really means fat.
Thursday, USA Today “treated” us to the latest installment of fat chick activism: fat (they call her “plus-size”) novelatrix Jennifer Weiner and her obsession with fat women–having at least one in each of her books. “It’s important to me, because in so many books, . . . the big girl was the punch line or she would get Prince Charming and everything that came with it only after she lost a lot of weight.”

Separated at Birth?:

Fat Chick Authoratrix Jennifer Weiner & “Facts of Life’s” Mindy Cohn

REALITY CHECK:
This week, fat authoratrix Weiner’s best-selling chick-lit novel, “In Her Shoes,” comes out in movie form, starring decidedly non-fatties Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette.
And skinny Diaz is on the newest cover of “In Her Shoes” paperback because they wouldn’t sell with, say, Camryn Manheim on the cover. “You need the sizzle to sell the steak,” claims fat novelatrix Weiner. No, people don’t want to eat a steak that’s fat. They want lean meat.
But she’s not as proud to be fat as she claims. Weiner refuses to reveal the size of the gown she wore for the premiere of the movie. Sometimes silence truly is golden.

Lipstick on a Pig: Julie Myers Tries Girl Power to Back Door ICE Job

By
Why were these two women hanging out together at the U.S. Senate, today?

Lipstick on a Pig:

Susan Collins and Julie Myers Use Girl Power to Sneak in ICE Nomination

Hint: and Susan Collins weren’t together to discuss “Going for Goldfish,” the video produced by their British namesakes. And they weren’t hanging out in the girls’ room comparing notes on the latest men of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) calendar.
No, and VERY liberal Republican U.S. Senator Susan Collins of Maine were discussing the men of the U.S. Senate and how to garner their votes for Myers. The meeting was mentioned in yesterday’s Congressional Quarterly.
Collins heads the committee that oversees Myers’ nomination. They got together to plot ways to get the nomination of the unqualified Myers through committee and then to the Senate Floor for approval of her now-under-fire nomination for Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security over ICE.
So what were they discussing? ICE agents are very worried. They speculate that Collins may try and “back door” Myers’ nomination out of committee without a vote and put her before the full Senate. That would almost assure her confirmation without the committee having to sign off on her.
“If that is true, that is pretty scary,” said one worried ICE agent, echoing the sentiments of .
Don’t let the Republican label fool you. Collins is very liberal and a feminist. She probably relishes the idea of an unqualified 36-year-old woman bossing around thousands of mostly male federal agents. There can be no other reason why she would not see to it that this unworthy nomination is DOA–where it belongs.

Pink Under Fire: Absurd Feminists Denounce “Sexist” College Gridiron Locker Room Color

By
Even though I’m a Michigan (Moscow on the Huron) and Wisconsin (Moscow on the Mendota) alumna and a Michigan Wolverines fan, I admire the intellect of Hayden Fry, former Iowa Football Coach. Yes, intellect. Fry was smart enough to use his brains for the benefit of Iowa football brawn and had the visiting team’s locker room at Kinnick Stadium painted pink–said to psychologically vanquish aggression.
But now pink is the new hated color, not by men (unfortunately), but by women who look like men–feminist activists.
You gotta love those feminists who now hate pink. First there was feminist Martha Burk. She , saying it represents retro and the ’50s in the worst way, in a New York Times interview.
Now there is feminist law professor Jill Gaulding, who hates pink for men–not on clothes but on the wall of the men’s locker room at Iowa. She said that “pink represents a reinforcement of a sexist stereotype” that is demeaning. Whatever.
The last time Martha Burk and her feminist lawyer compatriots attacked something in haggish unison–Augusta National Golf Club–it got me a free trip, courtesy of Hootie Johnson, to the Masters to debate Burk (and I got a funny quote about her in Golf Digest’s “Lipouts” and Golf World).
So I’m looking forward to a free, new pink wardrobe (but not locker room), soon. While I’ll be rooting for the Maize and Blue, this weekend, I’ll also be rooting for the pink locker room, since I love most reasonable things the feminists absurdly ridicule.

Israel National News Cites Schlussel in Saudi Prince/FOX News Story

By
After first , Israel National News a/k/a Arutz Sheva, an excellent news source– which I read regularly to see what’s REALLY going on in Israel and the rest of the Middle East–finally cited as the source of their story on Saudi Prince AlWaleed Bin Talal’s acquisition of 5.46% voting stock in NewsCorp, the company that owns and operates FOX News Channel. Unfortunately, the site waited four days to do so–after the rest of the Internet improperly cited them for MY work.
Here’s their report:
Saudi Prince Buys Large Share of Fox News
02:21 Sep 30, ’05 / 26 Elul 5765
(IsraelNN.com) Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal has purchased 5.46 percent of the Fox corporation, according to Gulf Daily News, raising concern that the conservative Fox News may soften its anti-terror stance due to the views of the new shareholder.
Journalist Debbie Schlussel, who originally , notes that Al-Waleed, the nephew of the late Saudi King Fahd, was last in the news when he visited the World Trade Center’s remains just after the September 11th attacks and offered then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani a $10 million check for relief efforts. Al-Waleed then released a statement blaming US foreign policy and support for Israel for the attacks.
Giuliani returned the prince’s check with a statement that, “There is no moral equivalent for this attack. The people who did it lost any right to ask for justification when they slaughtered . . . innocent people … Not only are those statements wrong, they’re part of the problem.”

Fair & Stolen: Frank Gaffney, Israel National News/Arutz Sheva, Others Rip Off Schlussel on Saudi Prince/FOX News Story

By
It’s rare that I will attack people on my own side. But that’s because it’s rare that they rip me off so blatantly. In this case, the offenders are Frank Gaffney, head of the Center for Security Policy–whom I normally like, and IsraelNationalNews.com (the English version of Arutz Sheva)–of which I and my parents are strong supporters.
But there seems to be a problem giving credit where credit is due. In this case, that credit is due me.
Almost two weeks ago, I wrote about , which owns and operates FOX News Channel. While several blogs and sites that picked up my story gave me credit, some did not.
The main offender, Israel National News a/k/a Arutz Sheva, has, at least, several days after my pointing it out, apologized and finally given me credit (though it’s kind of too late, since it’s already been ripped off far and wide, including by Gaffney).
But Frank Gaffney did not.
In Gaffney’s latest syndicated column, out today, not only does he rip off a Rudy Giuliani quote–down to MY edits and insertion of ellipses from the original quote which I featured in a 2001 column, when Giuliani returned the check to Prince AlWaleed–but other details are the same as well.
Here’s a sample of Gaffney’s “work,” as regurgitated from me, down to the editing of the quote and the placement of the ellipses:
SCHLUSSEL:
“Giuliani promptly returned the check with a statement: ‘There is no moral equivalent for this attack. The people who did it lost any right to ask for justification when they slaughtered . . . innocent people . . . . Not only are those statements wrong, they’re part of the problem.'”
GAFFNEY:
” ‘America’s Mayor’ immediately returned the prince’s check with a statement: ‘There is no moral equivalent for this attack. The people who did it lost any right to ask for justification when they slaughtered . . . innocent people . . . . Not only are those statements wrong, they’re part of the problem.'”
Sound familiar?
I ended my blogpost, “You decide.” What a coincidence!–Two weeks later, so does Gaffney. I wrote about AlWaleed giving a $10 million check to Giuliani and Giuliani returning it. Two weeks later, so does Gaffney. And, again, two weeks later, Gaffney uses my edits in the Giuliani quote. I wrote about AlWaleed’s appearance on “60 Minutes.” Two weeks later, so does Gaffney. Sure, he gave more details, but that’s because he used my work as his outline, and he merely filled in the details. So glad to see I’m now his unpaid, uncredited researcher/ghostwriter.
If he got it from INN/AS–who took it from me–then he ripped it off from them (who originally did not credit me). Either way, it shows that neither of these parties checked the veracity of the quote. They just took it, complete with my edits–as well as the rest of the story–and reported it as true, without verifying.
Below is Israel National News/Arutz Sheva’s apology, which is still incorrect. In fact, there was no “investigation” of the original source needed, because they did not “quote,” as they claimed, the Gulf News story. The Gulf News, in fact, does not feature the Giuliani quote or even anything about the incident with Giuliani and the $10 million check. Not a word. INN/AS just copied that off my site, period.
I’m still waiting for Gaffney’s apology–but not holding my breath.
Sometimes I think my site’s trademark slogan should be, “I report. They plagiarize. You decide.” The next time you read either of those parties’ “work,” you should wonder if you read it here first.
Sometimes, imitation is NOT the sincerest form of flattery. It’s just flat-out thievery.
